Ac2E Elementary 5th Grade Boys and 3rd Grade Girls Won 1st Place at the Superintendent’s Free Throw Contest
Senator Judith Zaffirini: We honor our fallen heroes on this Memorial Day Lt. Socrates Pappas, my Tío Catis, was a bombardier killed in action over Alaska during World War II. The 22-year-old was survived by his pregnant widow; his parents; and three brothers, including my father. Although we never knew my uncle, we always loved him. His legacy of exemplary patriotism, courage, and honor lives in our hearts and minds. It will continue to inspire future generations of our family, including my beloved grandsons, Asher and George Zaffirini. Memorial Day is a time to express our gratitude while sharing our respective stories about our families’ fallen heroes. By doing so we ensure we will never forget their ultimate sacrifices. Congratulations Ac2E Elementary Hawks 5th grade boys and 3rd grade girls for winning 1st place at the Superintendent’s Free Throw contest! Keep up the great work!

SURFACE WATER TREATMENT TECHNIQUE The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) sets minimum water quality standards for public drinking water. These standards include enforceable treatment technique requirements for drinking water. Inadequately treated water may contain disease-causing organisms. These organisms include bacteria, viruses, and parasites that can cause symptoms such as nausea, cramps, diarrhea, and associated headaches. You do not need to use an alternative water supply. The City of La Grulla, PWS ID TX214006, failed to meet the minimum treatment technique requirements for the month of February 2022. Specifically, our water system had more than 5% of the combined filter effluent turbidity readings were above 0.3 NTU for the month. Please share this information with all people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (i.e., people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail. Drivers urged to move over or slow down for tow trucks and other emergency vehicles Motorists are urged to slow down or move over for stopped emergency vehicles including tow trucks, police cars and fire trucks. Texas law requires drivers to slow down at least 20 miles per hour under the posted speed limit or, if able, to change lanes when they’re passing a first responder stopped on the road with their emergency lights activated. Drivers should pay attention to what’s happening around them and prepare to react quickly. “Tow trucks are emergency vehicles, and drivers should slow down or change lanes when tow
trucks are stopped on the side of the road – just like drivers should slow down or change lanes when they see police cars or ambulances
or fire trucks on the side of the road,” said Mike Arismendez, Jr., executive director for the (TDLR).
