I’m inviting all of our County to come and exercise your right to vote this week and on Election Day.

I am asking for an opportunity to serve this community and help address (with the help of our state leaders ) the issue of high appraised values, inflation, and a path to economic recovery. The families of Starr County have an opportunity to change the current situation. We have an abundance of untapped natural resources to promote our County. The biggest threat in any election is low voter turn out.

I know you are scared for your jobs and retaliation. I need your help to change that. Our vote is the biggest weapon we have to trigger change. Stand with me. Give yourselves an opportunity. Aspire for a better tomorrow. This election we need to let our leaders know that we are in control.

El Pueblo está cansado, y con mucha necesidad.

Les pido humildemente su confianza y su VOTO.

God Our Lord saw you tired, and it was impossible for him to heal you

He snuggled you in his arms and whispered…Come to me A heart of gold has stopped beating Some hardworking hands have gone to rest, God has broken our hearts, To show you that He only takes the best

The Family of Noel Escobar would like to thank the many relatives, friends, and neighbors, for their prayers, floral offerings, calls, and other expressions of support that we have received as we celebrate our brother’s life. We wish to extend our special thanks to those friends who initially attended to our beloved brother, to the Neuro Trauma Team at Doctor’s Hospital at Renaissance for the medical care and support given him, to Father Francisco Solis who so generously gave of his time to celebrate his life, to Mr. Ruperto Escobar for the words of kindness honoring Noel during his service to the City of Escobares--- the place where he was born, raised and returned and where he will remain eternally. We would also like to thank Mr. Eli Gonzalez, Escobares’ Chief of Police and his assistants, the multiple federal, state, and local municipalities and agencies who respectfully assisted in the funeral escort and Sanchez Funeral Home and its employees for their professional and caring arrangements. While his life here on Earth is done, many memories can be brought up in recall and felt by us in all your endless empathy.

His legacy will continue. Thank You.

The Broken Chain

We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone for part of us went with you, the day that God called you home. You left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide, and though we cannot see you, you are always by our side. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same; but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

Oración a San Expedito

Muchas Gracias. Padre Nuestro, Ave María y Credo. S. He Only Takes The Best

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put his arms around you and whispered, ‘Come with Me.’ With tearful eyes we watched you slowly fade away, although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us... He only takes the best.

We wish to express our deepest appreciation to all of our relatives, colleagues, and friends for their presence, food, lowers, cards, prayers, and condolences during our time of grief for the loss of our beloved Mia. May God bless you and we will always remember your presence and comforting words.

Safely heat your home as colder weather sets in across the Texas Gulf Coast Region

It’s time to turn the heat back on in cooler parts of the country and the American Red Cross Texas Gulf Coast Region urges families to safely heat their home to avoid home fires.

Heating equipment is the second leading causes of home fires, which typically rise during the colder months. The Red Cross Home Fire Campaign with community partners has saved at least 1,414 lives by educating families about fire safety, helping them create escape plans and installing free smoke alarms in high-risk areas across the country.

Across the Texas Gulf Coast Region, Red Cross volunteers and partners have installed 762 alarms and helped make 254 households safer during 2022 fiscal year.

“Colder temperatures often bring the increased risk of home heating fires, and we want everyone to stay safe by properly warming their home,” said Vanessa Valdez, Regional

HOW TO HEAT YOUR HOME SAFELY

A 2020 Red Cross survey showed that more than half of us have used a space heater — which is involved in most fatal home heating fires. Provide at least three feet of space around all heating equipment, and never leave space heaters unattended. Follow these additional tips:

•If you must use a space heater, place it on a level, hard and nonflammable surface, such as a ceramic tile floor. Don’t place it on rugs and carpets, or near bedding and drapes; keep away children and pets.

•Plug space heater power cords directly into outlets — never an extension cord. Turn it off every time you leave the room or go to sleep.

•Never use a cooking range or oven to heat your home.

Did you know that 1 in 4 young adults has misused a prescription drug and that 1 in 37 youth, ages 12 through 17, has misused cough medicine to get high? National Medicine Abuse Month (NMAAM) is an annual campaign, observed throughout the month of October, to raise the public’s awareness of the dangers of prescription and over-thecounter medicine misuse.

As parents / guardians, you can help prevent medicine misuse/ abuse:

(1) TALK to your teen about prescription and OTC cough medicine misuse. Teens listen,

even if they act like they don’t. In fact, teens who learn about the risks of drugs from their parents are 50% less likely to use drugs.

(2) SAFEGUARD your medicine cabinets. Know what medicine you have and how much, so you will know if anything is missing. Safely discard any medicines you no longer need.

(3) SHARE what you have learned about prescription and OTC cough medicine misuse / abuse.

(4) SPEAK UP at school meetings, community events, and other gatherings of parents – to make sure others active in teen’s day-to-day activities know about the dangers of medicine misuse / abuse. Share information via social media.
