pattycake This space offers an intimate dialogue between the fluidity of human form and geometry. The design captures the imagination of user and client through a visual transfomation of material, texture and proportion of elements. Traveling from bakery to restaurant a gradual aesthetic shift occurs that depicts the dichotomy between baked goods and healthy eating. Ultimately, the parallel between the desire and discipline of the vegan conscious. The main interior element represents impressions of the human form in space. The amorphic bakery case transitions into the angular countertop in the bar area, which then communicates with the free-standing faceted plant column. This central column connects to the interior partition walls that respond to the architecture of the building itself.

lextant Lextant, a local design research company in the Smith Bros. Building held a contest for the Senior Interior Design students to transform the large “ballroom” space in the center of their office suites. The space had to be versatile for public and private use, able to hold 20 or more people at one time and consist of three zones: the exhibit area, the lounge area and the studio area. flux flow

Our design team pulled existing elements from the market and created construction documents for custom woodwork while keeping the “open” integrity of the space.

yoga studio A yoga and Nia dance studio was to be retro-fitted into an existing print factory. The floorplan is a basic 9-grid feng shui map overlayed on the existing floorplan and rotated to face True North. After a short series of sketch models and material boards, Rhino was used to render images of the entire building as well as exterior landscape. A series of rendered “special moments inside the studio serve as examples of the potential opportunity in the space.

surface Based on the dimensions and proportions of the human body, we were asked to create a surface. The objective of the exercise is to use the human form as the point of departure to study relationships between ergonomics and built form. These are some examples of abstracted movement in humans translated into solid object.

energy station The Retail Design Institute held a competition for the innovation of convenience stores inside gas stations. Our design team focused the research on the potetiality of energy apart from standard gasoline and oil consumption. The design concept is a “living hill with all forms of energy for tranportation vehicles as well as people, animals and plants. The final concept was a video that received an honorable mention from the Retail Design Institute.
