Tennis event holds serve Brimbank residents are being urged to head courtside to try out tennis as 10 days of special events aimed at boosting interest in the sport get under way across the region. Eleven clubs across Brimbank are taking part in In2Tennis events, which will include club open days, cardio tennis, fast4, regular games and casual hits. Brimbank mayor John Hedditch said with the Australian Open now putting Melbourne centre-stage again, it was the perfect time to get out and give tennis a go. “There’s no charge to take part, so if you’ve ever thought about trying tennis, if you play regularly or want to get back into it, this is the perfect opportunity to get involved,” Cr Hedditch said. “There’s something for everyone and opportunities to continue playing beyond the event.” In2Tennis starts on Friday, January 20, at the Hampshire Square pop-up park in Hampshire Road, Sunshine, at 2pm. The opening will include activities and mini games, giveaways, food and refreshments, and a big screen showing the Australian Open. Tennis clubs will open their doors and lots of tennis programs have been organised.
