Daylight stabbing shock Police have arrested three teenagers following the stabbing of another teen at Melton last week. Police and emergency services were called to the Primary Medical and Dental Centre, on Station Road, Melton, about 3.40pm on Thursday. They found a 17-year-old male with a life-threatening stab wound to his leg. Senior Sergeant Barry Jenks, of the Melton crime investigation unit, said the injured teen had allegedly been involved in an altercation at the Woodgrove shopping centre carpark, before being driven to the medical centre by friends. Senior Sergeant Jenks said three people, including the stabbing victim, had allegedly threatened a 19-year-old with a baseball bat at the carpark. “And then the knife was produced and used,” Senior Sergeant Jenks said. “One of the males received a wound to the back of his leg that ruptured an artery.” He said the teen with the knife fled and the injured teen was driven to a nearby medical centre and then to hospital. Police arrested a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old at the medical centre. The 17-year-old has been charged with

affray and will appear at the Children’s Court at a later date. The 18-year-old man has been charged and bailed for assault-related offences, and will appear at the Sunshine Magistrates Court on September 21.

A 19-year-old man, who allegedly stabbed the victim, was arrested in the early hours of Friday and has been remanded and charged with seriously causing injury, recklessly causing serious injury and affray. Senior Sergeant Jenks urged anyone who witnessed the incident to call CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000. Helen Fraser wrote on Star Weekly’s Facebook page there had been a “crowded bus-stop full of kids trying to get home from school when these morons did what they did. “The stress levels of these families is insurmountable. What the hell is going on in this world?” Nathan Miles, who was at the Primary Medical and Dental Centre at the time, said there was “blood everywhere”.
