OUR CLASS Taking a re trospective view of our class, it takes us back to that memorable morn of Sep te mber, 1919, when with keen anticipation an d anxious trepidation we made our "debut" to the halls of State College High.

We remember the class as it was, th e troub le we had

with ou r schedu les, and getting at the right place at the right t ime. The organization of the class, the momentous q uestion of electing a c!ass president, selec ting class colors and fixing annual dues.

Many

faces were new to us, we welcomed them to our class, they have proven s taunch and true members 路of the class.

Others have d-ropped

by t he ways ide for so me reason or o ther , we wish them "God Speed" in their chose n occupation. We ca nnot look back on our hi g h school career unconscious of our good times, ou r trials and tribulations in attaining ou r goai, '.'G~APUATION".

We appreciate th e kind indulgen t attitude of our

teachers, the faithful loyalty ' to the school and class, th e humo r and pathos of our varied careers. Can we not repay all the good by s trivin g to live up to high ideals and standaTds, thus r'eflecting honor on our school and teachers?

As

we occupied a ni che in our High School either for wea l or for woe, can we not make the g ood in us be outstanding enough, so t hat our class may be remembered in the years to come as "The Class"? As we are now about to take up the activities of citizenship, Je t us not forget our HIGH SCHOOL. aid us.

Aid it, as we wished peop le to

Believe in it, as we believe in it now.

been taught to live it.

Live it, as we have

Let us beco me woTthy and proud citizens of

our g reat Dem ocracy and ever s tand by the schools as the great symbol of that great Democracy.

This year witnessed the inauguration of Girl's Basket Ball in our school. Despite the fact than no big games were won, we give due credit to the persevering spirit of its members.

We honor them as the first Girl's Basket Ball

Team of our High School. The game was new to practically all members, but the experience and training will serve ::s a foundation for a winning team next yea r. Inter-sq uad games were played, and two games with Bellefonte the res ults of which were unfavorable to us.

With a more experienced team next year

we hope to avenge the defeats. Due credit is given to Miss Bard, who coached the team, and to the students for their indulgent loyalty to the team.

Early in the spring of 1923 a call for baseball candidates was issued by Coach "·Buck" Taylo-r. Twenty-five candidates answered the call. Daniel Lonberger was elected captain and Robert Graham, manager. At the time of printing this issue no games have been played but the t :: am, under the capable direction of' the coach is rounding into shape and will give some real competition to their opponents this year. A county league of High School Baseball Teams has been organized. This will prove of great interest, more so especiall y s in ce Mrs. Graham has offered a handsome S il ver Trophy to be awarded to the winning team. It is t~e d·:!sire 0f th e "Maroon and Gray" that this become the prope rty of S. C. H. S. Success to the team!

BASIIBTBALL Basketball is a new sport at S. C. H. S . However, by serious practice th e rudiments of the game were learned and a team placed on the floor. For a green team they did exceptionally well, winning two out of six games played. We hope, that in the future, more interest will be shown in this s port as it fills up the gap between the fall season and spring.
