the Past

We’re bringing back the mighty Romans, the Ancient Greeks, feared emperors and great rulers. No, we’ve not built a time machine, we’re just really good at what we do.


ROME

Rome wasn’t built in a day, so naturally, neither was our itinerary. The city is the envy of the world in terms of art, culture and food. Plus, you’re always within walking distance of gelato! Can we just book our flights already?

Itinerary Day 1 First your group will enjoy a guided tour, checking out the Vatican and St Peter’s highlights. This includes the Ancient Secret Passage Tour, Sistine Chapel and the Vatican’s gardens. The evening has an authentic Italian meal in store.

Day 2 On their second day in the city, students will learn more about

the Colosseum, including the origin of this world-famous place and its development through the years. They’re sure to find out some interesting facts that aren’t written in their history books, and get some time to take pictures along the way. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Italian meal together.

Day 3 Today, discover more of southern Italy by visiting the ruins of

Pompeii, followed by The Pantheon and both The Roman and Imperial Forums. In the afternoon, the group will take part in a pizza-making lesson to perfect the local craft! Later, students will travel back to the city.

BUDAPEST

Once three parts, this city has come together to give us an all-round battering of the senses when it comes to historical knowledge. From buildings that date yonks back, to medieval baths and ancient ruins, somehow the city still retains a youthful glow.

Itinerary Day 1 After landing in Budapest and settling into your accommodation, take your students to Budapest’s most iconic symbol, the Chain Bridge. It connected Buda and Pest in 1894 to create Hungary’s awe-inspiring capital. After taking some snaps of the scenic view, visit the thirdlargest parliament in the world. This grand building is a great display of architectural innovation and a significant Hungarian landmark.

Day 2 In the morning, you and your students will get a chance to explore

the Buda Castle. Located within walking distance from the Chain Bridge, this site is a former royal castle and now hosts art and history exhibitions including WW2 artefacts. In the afternoon, visit one of the many thermal spas that the city is famous for! The Rudas Baths are one of the oldest, and arguably the prettiest, dating back to the 16th century. Digest the day’s activities over a wholesome Hungarian meal to round off your day.

Day 3 Students will need to set their alarms early for their final day.

Take a trip to the Palace of the Arts, home to permanent and temporary exhibitions. Students can discover orchestras and enjoy music libraries and chorus theatres. In the afternoon, you can all enjoy some free time before catching your evening flight back home.

BRUSSELS

Nope, we are not talking sprouts. This little city has a big voice when it comes to politics. Notable as the Washington, D.C. of Europe, this city sets the bar when it comes to political trips, so cut the airfare and stay in Europe.

Day 1 After a short journey, your group will arrive in Brussels and

transfer to your accommodation. After ditching their bags, students will enjoy an afternoon of exploring the city, where they can take in the stunning architecture and tourist hotspots such as The Grand Palace. On their first evening, they’ll be able to discover all the culinary delights Brussels has to offer over a group meal.

Day 2 On Day 2 of the trip, students will get into the depths of European

politics with a trip to the European Parliament. Afterwards, they’ll listen to a European Union talk. Teachers will have the option to choose topics to suit modular and curriculum learning. This will touch on the political and economic operations of the EU.

Day 3 On their final day, students will explore the European Commission,

and groups will get the opportunity to debate and attend presentations on the current union members. The Parlamentarium Visitors’ Centre is a hub of knowledge, and it’s here your students will follow the journey of the European Union, from birth to modern day. It’s the perfect way to end your time in Brussels.

ATHENS

We can thank the Ancient Greeks for philosophy, mythology and democracy. They also contributed to the creation of the first alarm clock, but who is thanking them for that? Any trip to Athens will be plagued by a surplus of ancient ruins, architecture and a healthy dose of education.

Itinerary Day 1 Land in the beautiful Greek capital and start your first day with

a trip to The Acropolis. These ruins are the crowning glory of the city, and from here your students will be able to look down over the whole of Athens. In the evening, enjoy your first meal as a group.

Day 2 Take your students to the Centre of the World (affectionately known as Omphalos of Delphi). In the Delphi Archaeological Museum, your students can learn the true meaning behind the name. In the afternoon head to the Olympic Village, which hosted the first Modern Olympic Games in 1896.

Day 3 Today your students can head away from the hustle and bustle of the city and visit the quieter outskirts. Students will explore Mycenae, an archaeological site representing the first real signs of modern civilisation. It dates back to around 1600–1100 BC!

Day 4 On their final day students can explore The Great Theatre of

Epidaurus. This is a short journey out of the city, but it is definitely worth it. Once your group have had the opportunity to take it all in, they’ll head back to the city before catching their night time flight home.

BERLIN

While the west of the city still pings with history, the east calls all quirky souls. Emerging through the grey, your students will hit a wall of colour, a sight not seen in any other city. Students will thank you for the street art, the echoing history and the Currywurst they’ll struggle to hold in one hand.

Itinerary Day 1 Arrive in Berlin and head straight to one of the most engaging

Day 2 On a walking tour your students will tick off the major attractions:

v The Berlin Wall

The Fernsehturm, Brandenburg Gate and The Reichstag Building. Make sure they’ve got their cameras primed and ready. In the afternoon, students will visit the DDR Museum, where they can really experience the conditions of Germany’s socialist past. Round the day off with a meal at a local restaurant before hitting the hay, as it’s a big day tomorrow.

Day 3 On their final day students will explore the Jewish Memorial,

one of the largest tributes to those who tragically lost their lives in The Holocaust. In the afternoon, students can stop off at the Checkpoint Charlie Museum for a quick photo, before heading back home.
