Our It all started back in 1979 with two Aussie backpackers, a long haul hangover and an idea. To create affordable adventures for awesome humans. Over 35 years later and we're the world's largest student and youth travel company; with stores in over 50 countries and over 2 million travellers a year. Since then, we've launched apps, festivals, film projects, digital music platforms and pioneered charity campaigns. INDI is all about tailoring an itinerary to suit you, and that includes your flights. THE ORIGINAL ROUND THE WORLD EXPERTS

We've been jumping into flat beds with the world's leading airlines for almost 40 years, all to bring you exclusively low and flexible airfares. Our Travel Experts can help you piece together completely unique itineraries. Fly in and out of different airports, add stopover packages, and create your own multi-stop and Round the World routes with unlimited stops and mileage. BOOKING YOUR FLIGHTS

Last minute for long haul usually spells out OVERDRAFT. (If you can still focus through the tears!). Most airlines release their seats 10-11 months in advance, with the lowest priced tickets selling out first. Lock in the cheapest tickets with a £49 deposit, paying the rest 10 weeks before you fly.◊

CHANGING YOUR MIND

Avoid change fees and stay flexible by adding a MultiFLEX pass to your flights. Any difference in the fare and applicable taxes as a result of a change will still be payable. Passes start from £29, ask your Travel Expert for more.∞ EXCLUSIVE STUDENT FARES

Back in 1979, STA Travel's flare-wearing forefathers pioneered the first ever tickets for students and young people. They were cheaper, more flexible and flew in the face of every other ticket - offering stopovers and rebellious routings. They were printed

on blue paper, so today, we just call them BlueTickets. (Slow day on the marketing floor). Today, we have the world's largest airline network for students, teachers and under 31s.Ω BUT WAIT, I'M NOT A STUDENT!

Yes, we realise this all seems a bit unfair to tax payers and the over 30s. That's why we have an open-to-all version of many of our BlueTickets, all offering the same unique freedom and flexibility. We just didn’t want to call them GreyTickets that’s all, out of respect.

Upgraded Fares INDI is all about you, your trip and your budget. So if you'd rather fly premium economy, business or first, we've negotiated upgraded fares with the world's leading airlines.

◊Deposits start from £49 and are non-refundable, non-transferable and payable at the time of booking. Bookings which include a flight are also inclusive of an additional non-refundable Low-Deposit Access fee of £5. Full payment is due 10 (ten) weeks prior to your scheduled departure. Not all products are eligible for deposit. Additional terms and conditions apply. See statravel.co.uk/our-amazing-holiday-deposits.htm for more information. ∞Any difference in the fare and applicable taxes as a result of a change will still be payable. All date changes are subject to availability and ticket conditions. MultiFLEX passes do not cover the cancellation of tickets. Not all fares are eligible for MultiFLEX. Additional terms and conditions apply. See statravel. co.uk/multiflex-pass.htm for more information. ΩProof of eligibility required (you may need to purchase an ISIC, ITIC or IYTC card, as applicable). Available on selected routes. Eligibility varies with each airline. Student age restriction may also apply. Additional terms and conditions apply. See statravel.co.uk/blueticket-flights.htm for more information

High season: Nov-Feb Low season: May-Oct Thailand is great all year, but sun-seekers may want to avoid the wet seasons. The Andaman Coast gets bursts of tropical rain Apr-Oct, the Gulf Islands from Sep-Dec. Temperatures in the north are cool and dry Nov-Feb, making it ideal for trekking.

INDI LOVES Well-established on the traveller circuit, Thailand's reputation already precedes it thanks to its temples, beaches, street food and sterling coral reefs. And with 514,000km2 of it, there's plenty to go around. 12

BANGKOK

FULL MOON PARTIES

Golden palaces, giant Buddhas, floating markets, porcelain-laid spires and 24hr jollies on Khao San Road.

Koh Phangan is your stop for hedonistic beach parties, drinking whisky by the bucket and covering yourself in paint.

THE FOOD

DIVE SITES

Thai street food can cost as little as 50THB and is full of delicious flavours. Pad thais all round.

The former pirate's hangout of Koh Tao boasts some of the country's best dive sites. Fingers crossed for whale sharks.

TEMPLES

CHIANG MAI

Of the 35,000 (!) temples in Thailand, Chiang Rai's White Temple tops our list. Think Buddha meets Disco Barbie.

Surrounded by lush countryside and peaceful temples, the historic centre of this northern city is an INDI favourite.

NORTHERN THAILAND //

INDI hits

CULTURE AND COMMUNITIES UP NORTH Starting in Bangkok, head straight up north and pass by temples, rivers, rainforests and hilltribe villages on the road to Chiang Rai. Day 1 - 2 // Bangkok - Sukhothai Most Thai adventures start in Bangkok, and for good reason. There's the tasty haunts of Chinatown, loads of temples, canals and floating markets to explore as well as the retail shops of Sukhumvit's mega-malls. For even more examples of the country's flair for building temples, head north of the capital. Ayutthaya and Sukhothai are good bets.

Day 3 - 4 // Sukhothai - Lampang - Chiang Mai Sukhothai, founded in 1238, was the capital of the ancient Sukhothai Kingdom and has plenty of temples, statues and key UNESCO World Heritage sites to explore. Head north again to up-and-coming Lampang and, if you're on the hunt for souvenirs, make for the colourful Tung Kwian Market. Chiang Mai isn't far away - just an hour and a half by car - full of monasteries, great food and night markets.

TONG BAI ELEPHANT FOUNDATION Spend a day with endangered elephants at this non-profit organisation. Enjoy a tasty Thai lunch before bathing time (not yours) in the river.

Day 5 - 8 // Chiang Mai - Hmong - Chiang Rai Chiang Mai is a pretty laid-back place, and there's no better way to relax than with a traditional massage. Up for something a bit out of the ordinary? Head up into the mountains to Hmong and meet the Hmong hilltribe, believed to have been the original inhabitants of ancient China's Yellow River Valley, and boat it down the Kok River, home to several other hilltribes. Finish up in Chiang Rai, gateway to Asia's Golden Circle.

THAILAND & MALAYSIA ADVENTURE // BEACH HOPPING FROM KRABI TO LANGKAWI What do these two countries have in common? Sandy shores, jungle-cloaked hills and islands perfect for a tailor made INDI adventure.

TUK TUK CLUB EXPERIENCE A Chiang Mai sightseeing tour with a difference. Take in rural communities, walk with elephants, hit the river on a bamboo raft and taxi your own tuk tuk!

Day 1 - 3 // Krabi Krabi is a great jumping off point to some of southern Thailand's most popular islands, so it makes sense to start your journey here. Discover the limestone islands near Railay Beach, go snorkelling and sunbathe to your heart's content at Tub, Chicken and Poda Islands. Experienced climbers will find good company at Railay.

Day 4 - 6 // Krabi - Koh Kradan Located just off the coast of Trang province, Ko Kradan boasts a magnificent coral-sand beach stretching between lush green hills and the turquoise Andaman Sea. It offers great snorkelling and diving and there's plenty to explore just offshore. Enjoy ample relaxation time and don't miss out on a boat trip to the famous Emerald Cave.

Day 7 - 13 // Koh Kradan - Koh Lipe - Langkawi Part of the Tarutao National Marine Park, Koh Lipe is a relatively new addition to the backpacker trail. Given its remote location, the beaches here are pretty much empty and most of the accommodation is in huts right on the beach - the perfect place to shut off from the world. Round up with a ferry to Langkawi, a Malaysian archipelago of more than 100 islands and islets, and world-famous food.

RIVER KWAI FLOAT HOUSE Make your stay among the jungles of Kanchanaburi even better with a stay on a floating villa on the River Kwai, complete with a private terrace and your own swing.

High season: Jul-Aug Low season: Apr-Jun & Sep-Nov The weather system of long-torsoed Vietnam is a varied one, so research your destinations before you leave. Overall, autumn (Sep–Dec) and spring (Mar-Apr) are best if you’re planning a country-wide trip. February's fresh winds make for ideal surfing conditions off the beaches of Hoi An.

INDI LOVES From the serene waters of Halong Bay to the hilltribes of Sapa and the chaotic streets of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam is a long time veteran of stealing the hearts of its visitors. We're willing to bet you'll be no exception! 14

THE DELIGHTS OF VIETNAM // TRAVEL THE LENGTH OF VIETNAM IN TWO WEEKS This suggested itinerary is for anyone keen to experience the diversity of Vietnam, but who has limited time to spare. Stop by Nha Trang, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and throw in a boat trip around Halong Bay. Day 1 - 3 // Ho Chi Minh - Nha Trang

Day 8 // Hoi An

Ho Chi Minh is brash, bolshy and in-your-face. A pretty great starting point we say with overflowing markets, neon lights and open air concerts. Lose yourself in the city’s central market, where you’ll find everything from bolts of brocade to flanks of beef, and learn about the country's history at the War Remnants Museum and the Cu Chi Tunnels. Continue north to Nha Trang via sleeper train.

Not far away lies Hoi An, a picturesque port town with more than a hint of Chinese influences. One of the city's main draws are its tailors, so best leave a couple of days for measurements if you fancy a new travel wardrobe.

Day 4 - 6 // Nha Trang - Da Nang The high-rise, high-energy beach resort of Nha Trang is the place to go if you want silky sands, turquoise waters and plenty of R&R. It's a great place to kick back for a few days, with the added bonus of full-day beach parties if you were ever in need of one. And should you get bored of the beach, there are markets, historical sites and optional snorkelling trips available. Continue north to Da Nang by overnight train.

Day 7 // Da Nang

INDI hits

Da Nang is a coastal city in central Vietnam known for its sandy beaches and history as a French colonial port. It's a popular base for visiting the stunning Bà Nà hills, and it also has a pretty waterfront; not a bad spot to have a wander!

Day 9 - 10 // Hoi An - Hue - Hanoi Once the imperial capital of Vietnam, Hue (pronounced 'hway') is full of monuments, tombs and pagodas. It's a charming place, partly due to its location on the stunning Perfume River. A great way to see it is on a boat trip down the river where you'll pass local fishing villages, the Thien Mu Pagoda and Hon Chen Temple. Once you're sufficiently zen, bed down on another sleeper train to the capital, Hanoi.

Day 11 - 15 // Hanoi - Halong Bay - Hanoi Full of French flair, Chinese culture and Vietnamese vitality, Hanoi is not to be missed. Grab a cup of sweet coffee and go for a wander through the Old Quarter. To get away from the city, don't miss out on a trip to Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The best way to see it is on an overnight junk cruise, bia hoi in hand. Kick back on deck and soak up the shades of jade in the grottos, lagoons and thick forests. Return to Hanoi for your onward journey.

High season: Nov-Apr Low season: May-Sep Cambodia and Laos both have wet and dry seasons. The wet season (May-Oct) brings showers, humid temperatures and less crowds. This is a great time to visit the Mekong. The dry season (Nov-Apr) brings cooler, windier temperatures with plenty of sunshine. You'll need to plan ahead though as accommodation tends to get booked up.

INDI LOVES Ancient wonders and eclectic landscapes make Cambodia and Laos the darlings of Southeast Asian travel. Step back in time at Angkor Wat, zen out on the Mekong River and take part in the Buddhist rituals of Luang Prabang. 16

ANGKOR WAT

PHA THAT LUANG

Angkor, whaat? This temple complex is the heart and soul of Cambodia and is a must see. Sunset views are spectacular.

SIEM REAP, BATTAMBANG THE HIGHLIGHTS & SIHANOUKVILLE // OF LAOS // CAMBODIA IN A NUTSHELL

FROM THE MEKONG TO THE CAPITAL

Take things easy with a laid-back (no less magical) route from Siem Reap to Sihanoukville.

Quaint towns, pretty temples, friendly locals and jungle-clad scenery.

Day 1 - 2 // Siem Reap

Day 1 - 2 // Luang Prabang

Chances are every visitor to Cambodia will swing by Siem Reap. The world's gateway to Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument on Earth, it also has plenty of chic hotels, markets, spas and restaurants. And as it's so popular with backpackers, the party scene is pretty decent as well. And the temple complex itself? At over 1,000 years old, recent discoveries tell us that what we can see is just the tip of the iceberg, and that there are entire cities still buried beneath the jungle! See it at sunset to catch it in the best light.

A perennial feature on 'best places in Laos' lists, former capital Luang Prabang has both charm and beauty. The northern city, on the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers, has plenty going on. Visit ornate temples, stop by the National Museum and fill up on food and fabrics in the famous night market. For an afternoon away from the city, head out of town to the Kuang Si Waterfalls for a cooling dip.

Day 3 - 4 // Battambang

Laos is famous for its hospitality, and nowhere is this more evident than in its villages. To get a taste of local life, take a boat trip down the Mekong and stay over in Kamu Village. Here, you'll get the opportunity to get involved in rice planting, harvesting and even gold panning. Let's hope Lady Luck is on your side! Then, head back to Luang Prabang.

Battambang is fast becoming a must on the Cambodian travel scene due to its laid-back, local feel. It's the country's second largest city so there's more than enough to keep you occupied, with each activity framed by beautiful colonial architecture. Chill out in one of the riverside cafĂŠs, head out to visit the region's impressive temples (hilltop Wat Banan and the nearby complex of Phnom Sampeu should definitely be on your list) and take a ride on the famous bamboo train.

Day 5 - 6 // Sihanoukville Cambodia's favourite beach hangout, Sihanoukville is loved by backpackers for its chilled out atmosphere and tropical coastline. It's a springboard to some of Cambodia's southern islands too, so kick back, relax, and soak up the views.

Day 3 - 4 // Kamu - Luang Prabang

Day 5 - 8 // Vang Vieng - Vientiane After a short stint as a backpacker party town, Vang Vieng has now calmed down and is known for its nature-based activities along the Nam Song river. Floating down the winding waters in tubes is a particularly popular activity, as is kayaking, hiking and caving. Most trips to Laos visit the capital, so it makes sense to end in Vientiane. Sleepy in nature, this is a great place to sightsee. Amble along the Mekong, visit That Luang Stupa or take some time out.

Starting in Cambodia’s capital, you can also journey into Vietnam, visiting temples and historical sites via boats and beaches. Day 1 - 2 // Phnom Penh Cambodia’s capital is a treasure trove for culture vultures: the National Museum contains a collection of Khmer art, the Silver Pagoda houses a solid gold Buddha and the Buddhist temple of Wat Phnom dates back to 1392. This being Southeast Asia, there are also plenty of markets to go trinket hunting in.

You could also take a tuk tuk to see the ruins at sunset; trust us when we say it's pretty amazing. End your Cambodian stay sunning yourself on the sweeping beaches of Sihanoukville.

Day 7 - 8 // Ho Chi Minh City Take a flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Vietnam’s biggest city offers plenty of activities, including city tours and visits to the Cu Chi Tunnels, used during the Vietnam War. For something a tad more active, why not hire a bike and go for a cycle through the Chinese Quarter? Post-cycle, work your tastebuds with some local street food.

Day 10 - 11 // Da Nang - Hoi An - Da Nang - Hanoi When you’re all Hue'd out, take the scenic route over Hai Van Pass to Da Nang and continue to the historic city of Hoi An, famed for its historic houses and bridges. ULTIMATE PHILIPPINES ADVENTURE // ISLAND-HOPPING AS IT WAS MEANT TO BE In the Philippines, it's always going to be a matter of so many islands, so little time (there are 7,641 of them). If you're looking at a two-week trip, this suggested itinerary across the islands of Luzon, Bohol, Cebu and Palawan is a good place to start. Flights and ferries are something of a necessity. Day 8 - 9 // Puerto Princesa - El Nido

Start in the capital and set out to see the city by squeezing yourself into the back of a jeepney (one of the world's more colourful public transport options). Jump head first onto the chaotic streets to uncover a thriving indie music scene and an array of art galleries, or find some peace at Coconut Palace. Fly to Bohol for your first glimpse of Philippine sand. Drive through coconut plantations and mahogany forests to the town of Carmen for tarsier monkeys and rolling Chocolate Hills. From here, continue to riverside Loboc, a great spot for kayaking and paddleboarding.

Spend at least a full day in Puerto and don't miss a tour of the underground river that flows beneath St. Paul Mountain. It's believed to be the longest of its kind in the world and emerges into a lagoon on Palawan's west coast. Tour the river on small outrigger canoes - paddled by park guides - and explore the caves, pitch black and home to thousands of bats. After a morning of sightseeing, head north to El Nido. This is a popular base for exploring Palawan's most beautiful asset. The Bacuit Archipelago rivals even Halong Bay with lagoons, coves and incredible marine life.

Day 5 - 7 // Cebu - Puerto Princesa

Day 10 - 15 // Sabang - Puerto Princesa

Transfer to the seaport for the ferry to the island of Cebu. On arrival, check in to your accommodation and spend the day exploring in the water and on dry land. Snorkelling and whale shark diving is excellent here, and it's worth taking a city tour. Cebu has stories to tell, check out the architecture and history of the Heritage Monument and the old Basilica to find out more. Make your way from Cebu to Palawan by plane, and transfer to Puerto Princesa. Check out the nightlife on Rizal Ave.

Head south to the beach of Sabang, where you can easily spend a few days. Go diving, practice some yoga or hike the famous Sabang Monkey Trail (not always widely populated with monkeys, but you might spot some monitor lizards on the way). Thrill-seekers are also well-catered for, with ziplining and caving excursions on hand. After breakfast on your final day, transfer to Puerto Princesa airport, arriving in plenty of time to catch your onward flight.

ESSENTIAL JAPAN // A 16-DAY JOURNEY FROM TOKYO TO TOKYO The cities edging the southern coast of Japan will give any first-timer a pretty good idea of what the island is about; from Tokyo's neon-hued skyline to the old soul of Kyoto. Day 1 - 3 // Tokyo - Hakone

Day 10 - 11 // Kurashiki

A yin and yang of past and present, Tokyo is famously a poster boy for urban life. The trains run on time, crime is almost unheard of and there are neighbourhood festivals popping up all year round. Next, veer south west to Hakone, the gateway to Mt. Fuji and its national park. If the summit hike seems like too much, take the cable car up Mt. Owakudani for views of the mountain and the so-called Boiling Valley below, a sea of active sulphur vents and hot springs.

Another train journey takes you to Kurashiki. The main attraction here is the Bikan Quarter, a neighbourhood of black and white museums, galleries, wooden houses and a willow-lined canal. Art buffs should not miss the Ă•hara Museum of Art.

Day 4 - 6 // Kyoto Heading west again, you'll come to Kyoto. Undoubtedly Japan's most beautiful city, you'll easily fill two days here. A guided tour will take you to the Golden Pavilion, Nijo Castle and the Nishiki Market, also known as Kyoto's Kitchen. Another day's sightseeing might bring you to Nara, home to Todaiji Temple, Deer Park and Kasuga Taisha, known for its bronze and stone lanterns. If you're here during fall, take a boat down the Oi river to Arashiyama for a closer look at the brilliant foliage.

Day 7 - 9 // Osaka From Kyoto, take the train to Osaka. The birthplace of ramen noodles, its endless canals have appointed it the Venice of the East. Unmissable sights here include Osaka Castle, Dotonbori and the Umeda Sky Building.

Day 12 - 13 // Hiroshima Get back on the (highly efficient) railway and continue your journey west to Hiroshima. Day 14 - 16 // Tokyo Return to Tokyo by train. Local trains continue to be the most cost-savvy option (unless you take the bus), and the Shinkansen bullet train the quickest. Take an extra few days to make the most of the city's eccentricities. Check in to your first ryokan in downtown Tokyo, an ideal location for shops, bars, restaurants and for visits to the Senso-ji Temple. Opt for a day trip out to see the Great Buddha statue (the second tallest in Japan), Kamakura Beach and Enoshima, a car-free island home to shrines dedicated to the goddess of good fortune.

Day 4 - 6 // Hakone - Kyoto The journey from Tokyo to Hakone takes around two hours. Consider buying a travel pass here for easy travel on the bus, cable car, rope way and tourist boat. The ryokans in the Great Boiling Valley are surrounded by natural hot springs, used widely for bathing as well as for the cooking of the local delicacy: black boiled eggs. Travel on to Kyoto, the capital of Japan's ancient culture and traditions. Visit the Fushimi Inari shrine, famous for its network of thousands of vermilion torii gates.

Day 7 - 9 // Osaka Japan's second-largest city is also known as its kitchen, so loosen your belt and give your stomach some room. Keeping yourself busy between meals won't be a problem. Kabuki performances are great here, and Universal Studios is just down the road!

TRADITIONAL TAIKO DRUM EXPERIENCE Master the rhythms and techniques of taiko, a Japanese drumming style, and get the lowdown on the artform's history. Based in Osaka.

JAPANESE FOODIES TOUR // FOLLOW YOUR STOMACH TO KYOTO Infused with hints of sake, wasabi and green tea, this INDI itinerary is designed specifically with sushi aficionados (and general eaters) in mind. Day 1 - 4 // Tokyo - Matsumoto Tokyo can be seen as the meeting point for all of Japan's regional delicacies, so where better to start? Head downtown to sample traditional Japanese street food and sample homegrown sushi at Tsukiji, the largest fish market in the world. Next up, head to Matsumoto where you'll find the Daio Wasabi Farm. There are also opportunities to learn how to make SOBA noodles from scratch.

Day 5 - 8 // Kanazawa - Hiroshima - Osaka

TOKYO AFTER 5 Some cities live their best lives after dark, and Tokyo is definitely a night owl. Take a private tour of the city's best after-hours eating spots.

36

Kanazawa is the best place to experience chanoyu, a traditional tea ceremony. Accompany this with a lesson in wagashi-making, sweets that include mochi, azuki (red bean paste) and fruits. Hiroshima's dish of the day is okonomiyaki, a savoury pancake cooked with cabbage, pork, egg and noddles. Onwards to Osaka, the kitchen of Japan and home of takoyaki, a snack of batter and diced octopus. Also, noodle cups!

Day 9 -12 // Kyoto Here's where you get a side of culture to go with your dinner. Pair Kyoto's tea farms and sake museum with visits to the Geisha district and the city's ornate temples. All of the above itinerary can be arranged with a guide, with lessons and some meals included.

- Stays

We’re all a bit overdone these days. And despite our love of all things food, wine and Full Moon Parties, travel doesn’t always need to be about over-indulgence. Here’s where we go when we need balancing out, or just some self-served TLC. SOUTH AFRICA At South Africa’s You2Yoga, their yoga and volunteering package allows you to spend your days on a small farm divided between personal practice of yoga and meditation and participating in community development projects aimed at reducing poverty.

THAILAND The Thai islands offer the perfect setting to connect with nature and with yourself. On Koh Phangan, the Sunset Hill five-night Yoga Package focuses on harmony and healing through yoga in a beautiful, peaceful environment.

AUSTRALIA Australia is all about sun, sea and surf. Throw yoga into the mix and you’re good - mind, body and soul - to go. Mojosurf in Byron Bay offers Surf & Stay plus Yoga packages for up to five nights. This small, hippy beach town is perfect for it.

PORTUGAL Offering the most consistent waves in Europe, Portugal is an obvious choice for a surf retreat. Bura Surfhouse combines the reasons why people venture to the Algarve with their “It’s Surf, It’s Yoga, It’s Wine” programme.

INDIA India wrote the book on yoga. Actually, it wrote several. Rishikesh is one of the country’s most popular spots for people seeking spiritual guidance. Retreats offer meditation sessions and a vegetarian menu to complement the local Himalayan culture.

INDONESIA Bali was a spiritual poster child way before Julia Roberts' arrival in 'Eat, Pray, Love'. Go full R&R or check in to the Bali Fitness Bootcamp for intensive workouts, personal trainers, yoga and optional excursions to temples, surf spots and beaches.

High season: Dec-Mar Low season: Apr-Jun The popular months are popular for a reason: great weather, great skiing in the mountains and plenty of cultural goings on, including Holi in March. Saying that, Oct-Nov is peak festival season and sees mostly good weather and less crowds. Jun-Aug is blistering hot and rainy, but mountainous Ladakh is at its best.

INDI LOVES Geological technicalities aside, India might as well be its own continent. Each region (each town? each village?) has a different pulse and their own distinct flavour. Come for bright and colourful festivals, stay for the chaos. 38

HIGHLIGHTS OF NORTHERN INDIA // THE GOLDEN TRIANGLE AND RANTHAMBORE With good road and rail links joining up the cities of New Delhi, Jaipur and Agra, the Golden Triangle is always a winner with independent travellers. Adding on Ranthambore National Park makes this more of a rhombus route. Even better. Day 1 - 3 // Delhi

Day 7 - 8 // Jaipur

Freshly landed or not, Delhi is always going to be a jolt to the senses. The region has more feet on the ground than the whole of Australia with noise, traffic and chaos to match. Essentially several cities in one, a bit of planning won't hurt to make sure you get the most out of your stay. New Delhi and Old Delhi are big sightseeing centres, with plenty of guided options available. Make your way to the Red Fort, Friday Mosque-Jama Masjid and Raj Ghat, the cremation site of Mahatma Ghandi.

The next point on the Golden Triangle is Jaipur. Clothed in pink stucco, the city is also known as the Pink City and is is one of India's most important heritage sites. The Amber Fort is best known for its blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture, and will probably serve as your focal point. Local guides can also take you to the City Palace, Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds) and the Jantar Mantar Observatory, which displays astronomical instruments from the 1700s.

Day 4 - 6 // Agra - Ranthambore National Park

Day 9 -10 // Delhi

Transfer to Agra, the home of the UNESCO-listed Agra Fort, once the main residence of the Mughal Dynasty. It's also where you'll find one of India's most recognisable icons. Built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan as a monument to his favourite wife (and a not-so-subtle slap in the face for the others?) the Taj Mahal is considered by many to be the most impressive example of Muslim art in India. Sunset visits are highly recommended. Just over five hours south west is Ranthambore, a dense jungle crawling with big cats and sloth bears. Maximise your chances of spotting Rajasthan's elusive tiger with at least 2-3 game drives.

Close the triangle/rhombus as you transfer back to Delhi. People tend to love and hate the city in equal measure - it's brash yet vivid, polluted yet fragrant, puzzling yet atmospheric and sometimes even a little comical. How long you stay on here will depend completely on how comfortable you are with being out of your comfort zone. Being in one of the best-connected cities in the world, your next destination could be anywhere. See the following page for suggested routes further north and south.

HIMALAYAN ESCAPE //

BEST OF KERALA //

MOUNTAINS OF NORTHERN INDIA

FROM COCHIN TO TRIVANDRUM

For a closer look at India's spritual side, aim for at least a week in the Himalayan foothills. Here's how.

After the brilliant chaos of India’s cities, coastal Kerala's near-deserted beaches can give you the calm you need.

Day 1 - 3 // Delhi - Haridwar - Rishikesh

Day 1 - 3 // Cochin - Munnar

Delhi has good train connections to the northern region. Hit the rails to Haridwar and transfer to the spiritual enclave of Rishikesh (ask instore for private transfer options). With its enviable location at the foot of the Himalayas and on the banks of the Ganges, its ashrams have long enticed travellers, sadhus (holy men) and Beatles alike. Experience the Hindu ritual of Aarti in the Har Ki Pauri temple, or sign up to a healing yoga retreat.

Cochin is the common entry point for Keralan jaunts. It’s a place defined by its centuries-old Chinese fishing nets and ancient mosques. Visit the harbour and synagogue, and catch a Kathakali dance show in the evening. Then head into the hills and make for the tea plantations of Munnar.

Day 4 - 6 // Shimla

Continue the plantation trail as you seek out tea, coffee and cardamom in Periyar. Take a boat ride on the lake and then transfer to Alleppey, known for its hireable houseboats. Spend a few days cruising though the sleepy Keralan backwaters and end up in Marari, a tranquil beach town where you’ll want to spend at least a couple of nights.

One of India's most popular hill resorts, Shimla's natural beauty is a huge draw. With great views of the Himalayas, the world's highest mountain range, it's also home to relics from its former life as the capital of British India. Enjoy one of the world's most scenic rail journeys on the toy train to Kolka. Overnight in Shimla.

Day 7 - 9 // Amritsar - Delhi

INDI hits

Edging closer to the Indo-Pakistani border, Amritsar is best reached by road. The city's Golden Temple is Sikhism's most important pilgrimage site, and is well worth a visit. Before returning to Delhi, make the short journey out to the border village of Wagah to witness the elaborate changing of the guards.

40

Day 4 - 7 // Periyar - Alleppey - Marari

Day 8 - 11 // Kovalam - Trivandrum More coconuts await in beachy Kovalam, right at the southern tip of Kerala. Enjoy more lazy afternoons on the sun lounger before transferring to Trivandrum, the capital of the Keralan state. Known for its distinguished art galleries, it's also within easy reach of the hill country where you can pick up the pace again with cycling, trekking and camping opportunities.

INDI LOVES A real pocket rocket. Just an eight-hour drive north to south, Sri Lanka manages to fit in eight UNESCO sites, 26 national parks and dozens of beaches and tea plantations. It also has sterling neighbours. The Maldives are just a short flight away.

KANDY TO ELLA BY TRAIN

HIKKADUWA BEACH

TEA COUNTRY & SOUTHERN DELIGHTS // CAPITALS, COASTS AND SOUTHERN CEYLON TEA Sri Lanka is a top country for independent travel. This suggested itinerary makes use of the island's incredible train journeys (some of the best in the world) as well as private chauffeur options for when you want that extra bit of local know-how. Day 1 - 2 // Colombo - Kithulgala

Day 6 - 7 // Weerawila (Yala National Park) - Galle

In Colombo, hired cars can come with hired help for just a fraction more, so consider booking yourself a private chauffeur guide. Environmentally-friendly options are available for a range of budgets, mostly with locals at the helm. Make the most of your designated driver and make the three-hour journey to white water rafting centre Kithulgala. These Grade 3 and 4 rapids are a really fun way of seeing the jungles and the tea and rubber plantations of the Kandyan hill country.

Before leaving Udawalawe, make sure you stop by the Elephant Transit Home. Just 5km from the park, the home serves as a halfway house and cares for wounded adult elephants and orphaned calves. The journey to Weerawila then brings you to Yala National Park. Explore the wilderness on game drives and on treks through the local communities with local responsible guides before continuing to Galle.

Day 3 - 5 // Ella - Udawalawe For your first foray onto the rails of Sri Lanka, you can't get much better than the journey through the hill country from Kandy to Ella. To secure yourself a seat (and a view) book your tickets beforehand. Once you've arrived, a short trek to the summit of Little Adam's Peak will give you the best panoramic views around. Three hours down the hill, Udawalawe offers a different scene entirely thanks to its national park. Take a jeep safari to look for some of its 500 elephants, and consider a camping option for the night.

42

Day 8 - 9 // Galle Surely one of Sri Lanka's most unmissable spots. After taking in the iconic sights of the stilt fishermen and the Galle Fort, hire a bike and head to Wijaya Beach, the start of a 12km cycling loop that takes you through the surrounding paddy turfs. Seasoned cyclists will enjoy the 30km Paddy and Lake trail along the north west shoreline of Koggala Lake. Before leaving for your next destination, go a little left field with a ghost tour of the Dutch Fort... and possibly the 17th century.

ESSENCE OF SRI LANKA // SRI LANKA EXPLORER // CULTURE AND LOCAL LIFE

FROM COLOMBO TO COLOMBO

Getting to the root of the Teardrop Island through cultural triangles, hillside treks and local encounters.

The go-to adventure for a traveller who wants it all; sandy toes, hiker’s thighs and wildlife-weary eyes.

Day 1 - 3 // Dunagaha - Sigiriya - Polonnaruwa

Day 1 - 5 // Colombo - Dambulla - Passikudah

Start your trip surrounded by coconut plantations in Dunagaha village. Two hours away, you'll reach the first point on the Cultural Triangle, the Dambulla Cave temple, one of the country's eight UNESCO sites. The next two points are the rock fortress of Sigiriya and the ancient remains of Polonnaruwa. Stay in Sigiriya.

Waste no time in crazy Colombo, transfer straight to the candlelit caves of Dambulla and climb the UNESCO-listed Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Continue the cultural trail to Anuradhapura and wander its garden of crumbling wonders before making for Passikudah where you can remove your temple specs and sink into the sand.

Day 4 - 6 // Habarana - Knuckles - Kandy

Day 6 - 8 // Kandy - Nuwara Eliya

The Elephant Watch Hut is all about placing you in the wild and in the path of passing wild elephants, which is a lot safer and snazzier than it sounds. Night safaris come as standard, as do the hot tubs! Transfer to the Knuckles Mountain Range for an early-morning trek before heading to the hill country of Kandy.

Repack your swimmers and journey into the hill country. Kandy is surrounded by tea plantations, Buddhist temples and strollfriendly paths. Enjoy a day here and continue south to the remote Nuwara Eliya, a lush green sanctuary for birds and backpackers.

Day 7 - 9 // Gampola - Negombo

INDI hits

In Gampola, experience local life with visits to its traditional bakery and market. Travel by tuk tuk and opt for a cooking class. The star attraction here is the Kirinda Viharaya, a Buddhist temple where you can experience the offering of Gilanpasa. Cut back west over the hills to the beach town of Negombo.

Day 9 - 11 // Yala - Colombo End your trip in Sri Lanka’s most famous national park, home to herds of elephants, buffaloes and monkeys. Explore the grassy plains on safari and keep your eyes peeled for the elusive Sri Lankan leopard. Complete the loop back to Colombo for the final piece of the puzzle. That’s beaches, ancient temples, national parks and one bonkers capital. Done.

ESSENTIAL SOUTH AFRICA // WILDERNESS AND WINE COUNTRY, AND PLENTY IN BETWEEN South Africa boasts incredible cities and fantastic areas of natural beauty. This classic route is a real all-rounder that can take you from Cape Town's Table Mountain, through the wine country, across safari-lavished plains and along the coast, right up to the streets of Johannesburg. How you do it is up to you. Day 1 - 3 // Cape Town

Day 11 - 12 // Port Elizabeth - Johannesburg

Coastal Cape Town is a hard place to leave, so starting here might not be the best idea but bear with us. Start your trip with some oomph in the fabled bars of Long Street or take a tour around the Cape of Good Hope. In the evenings, enjoy sustainable local produce on the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.

Just a short drive away is Port Elizabeth, your last stop along the Garden Route, recognised worldwide as one of its most enchanting stretches of coastline. From here, take a short flight to Johannesburg. Take a city tour to learn about its development during the gold rush of the 1880s and the complex horrors of Apartheid. If you have a day to fill here, take a trip to the township of Soweto. While still honouring its agonising past (the Hector Pieterson Museum is a fine example), Soweto has grown to be a vibrant centre of culture and activity. Visit Nelson Mandela's former home, the Soweto Theatre and the Ubuntu Kraal Brewery, South Africa's first township craft brewer.

Day 4 - 8 // Stellenbosch - Hermanus - Knysna Welcome to wine country! Stellenbosch is famed for its vast array of winelands which dominate the region. Arrange to take a wine safari (it's not just big game here) and take a walk around the Old Town. Next day, travel along the coast to Hermanus, the whale-watching capital of South Africa.

Day 9 - 10 // Pumba Private Game Reserve The stunning Pumba Private Game Reserve boasts the Big 5, as well as a unique pride of white lions. Your open-air safari vehicle will be a great aid in helping you spot them all. A stay in the resort's chalet comes inclusive with game drives, so relax and enjoy a dip in the pool after a wild, hot day.

Day 13 - 15 // Kruger National Park - Johannesburg Over the next few days, travel through Kruger National Park to see the Big 5 (and the Little 5 if you can spot them) in their natural habitat. The park itself is absolutely huge - roughly around the size of Wales. While you're here, sample some delicious South African cuisine under the stars. Head back to Johannesburg to continue onwards.

THE GARDEN ROUTE //

BATTLES, WINE & WILDS //

SELF-DRIVE TO PORT ELIZABETH

DURBAN TO CAPE TOWN

Get yourself a hire car and take on one of Africa's most famous drives, the 300km Garden Route.

Covering 2,665km of South Africa's vast landscapes is less daunting when most of it is by luxury train.

Day 1 - 3 // Cape Town

Day 1 - 3 // Durban - Rorke's Drift - Durban

Arrive into scenic Cape Town, sandwiched between the slopes of iconic Table Mountain and the glistening waters of Table Bay. Enjoy a cable car up the mountain for spectacular views from the top, and the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens at the foot. You can also take a boat trip to Robben Island, famed for being the location of Nelson Mandela's incarceration, or embark on a road trip along the coast to experience both the Atlantic and Indian oceans. By night, the cosmopolitan Victoria & Alfred waterfront is the place to be.

Kick things off in Durban, a solid springboard for springbok adventures. Enjoy the modern luxuries before stepping back in time to the battlefield sites of the Anglo-Zulu War, Rorke’s Drift and Spioenkop. Mahatma Gandhi actually fought in the latter, serving as a bearer and medic for the British Army.

Day 4 - 7 // Stellenbosch - Knysna Drive to the world-famous winelands of Stellenbosch, an area surrounded by mountains and vineyards. Take a walking tour of the town and its beautifully-preserved Cape Dutch and Victorian architecture. You can also head out to nearby Franschhoek, one of the oldest towns in South Africa. Continue along the Garden Route towards Knysna, passing the imposing Knysna Heads and the Knysna lagoon where the statuesque headlands meet, and enjoy time to explore the scenery along the coastal road. Stops include the Featherbed Nature Reserve and the Knysna Lagoon itself.

Day 8 - 11 // Kariega Game Reserve - Port Elizabeth Venture onwards towards the Kariega Private Game Reserve, offering local cuisine including traditional barbecues and outdoor dining. Complete your stay with a few game drives (the more the merrier if you're hoping to spot the Big 5), river cruises and canoeing excursions. When you can tear yourself away, head to Port Elizabeth to round up your trip and continue your onward journey - but not until you've seen the beaches, known for their fantastic surf.

56

Day 4 - 6 // Hoedspruit - Kruger National Park Things are about to get pretty wild as you fly to the Greater Kruger area, a land ruled by prides of lions and herds of 4WD safari vehicles. You’ve got a good chance of spotting the Big 5 (lions, leopards, rhinos, buffaloes and elephants), as well as zebras, giraffes and cheetahs.

Day 7 - 9 // Johannesburg - Cape Town - Stellenbosch Leave the bush and re-enter civilisation in Johannesburg. From here you can make the short trip to Pretoria to catch the luxurious Blue Train to Cape Town. This all-inclusive journey takes you across 1600km of spectacular scenery in just over a day. Bring a pack of cards and crank up your shutter speed for some motion shots! Arrive in Cape Town in the morning and transfer to the winelands of Stellenbosch, a nice place to drop the bags for a few days.

Day 10 - 16 // Stellenbosch - Cape Town Rise and shine, it’s wine tasting time! Tour the vineyards and wineries until you can no longer pronounce Stellenbosch and ready your bags for a return to Cape Town. South Africa’s capital (one of three!) is great place to cap things off. Take the cable car up to the top of Table Mountain (‘cable to the table’), waddle with the penguins of Boulder’s Beach and enjoy harbour views from the V&A Waterfront.

Continue through mountain scenery to Calvina, a good stopover point on the long road to Augrabies Falls. The most popular time is during the Great Migration (Jul-Aug), but sightings in the Ngorongoro Crater are good well outside peak season. Underwater, whale sharks visit Nov-Mar. Climbers! Kili slopes are best (but busy) Sep-Oct.

INDI LOVES Tanzania does a good job of containing almost everything you'd want to see on a visit to the continent. From the plains of the Serengeti to the beaches of Zanzibar, you'll be tripping over national parks left, right and centre. 62

SAFARI AND ZANZIBAR EXPLORER // NATIONAL PARKS AND THE SPICE ISLAND OF ZANZIBAR A round trip from Arusha to Arusha, with an added stint at the beautiful isle of Zanzibar to top it all off. Visit the famous Serengeti, drive the caldera of the Ngorongoro Crater and count the flamingos at Lake Manyara. Day 1 - 2 // Arusha - Lake Manyara

Day 8 - 9 // Arusha - Zanzibar

Arrive in Arusha and transfer to your accommodation. We'd recommend a visit to the Arusha National Park followed by a hearty Tanzanian dinner in the city centre. Your first taste of Tanzanian wildlife will be by the shores of Lake Manyara, a wildly underrated park home to tree-climbing lions.

Transfer to Arusha. On a clear day, you'll be able to see the impressive Mount Meru along the way. In Arusha, you'll have the opportunity to see anything you might have missed the first time round before heading to the airport to catch your flight to the Spice Island of Zanzibar. Your first night will most probably be spent in Stone Town. Take to the historic quarter to wander among its rustic mansions, palaces and bathhouses.

Day 3 - 5 // Serengeti National Park And now for a more seasoned safari outing, and arguably (who would) the best in the world. The Serengeti is home to over 70 large mammal species and 500 types of birds. Its name roughly translates as "Endless Plains", and with the ground you'll cover, you'll soon understand why.

Day 6 - 7 // Ngorongoro Crater With a pitstop at Olduvai Gorge on the way - where traces of pre-historic man dating back 3.5 million years have been discovered - head to the wildlife-rich Ngorongoro Crater. After a night out on the crater's rim, descend its walls on a full-day game drive for your chance to see huge congregations of hippos, birdlife and Africa's highest density of lions.

Day 10 - 15 // Zanzibar Building in a few days of R&R to your itinerary is never going to be a bad idea, and you won't find many places more equipped than Zanzibar. MAFIA ISLAND BEACH BREAK 160km south of Zanzibar, this island is virtually untouched. This package includes five nights accommodation, four dives and a local day tour.

With just two weeks in front of you, spend no more than a night in Nairobi before starting the drive along the Rift Valley to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, an extension of the Serengeti ecosystem to the south. Game drives are a way of life here, so jump aboard and look out for the reserve's leopards.

Armed with a picnic lunch, clear immigration at the Isebania border and exchange your vehicle before continuing on to the Seronera Camp, at the heart of the Serengeti National Park. Renowned for its annual migration of over 1.5 million wildebeest as well as 250,000 zebra, the area is also home to 2,500 lions, numerous Nile crocodiles and a great big spattering of honey badgers.

Day 9 - 10 // Ngorongoro - Zanzibar A full day's game viewing in the Ngorongoro Crater will hopefully bring you face to face with at least some of the Big 5, as well as the region's incredible array of wildlife. Enjoy a local meal at the Arusha Coffee Lodge and, if time allows, visit Shanga, an uplifting local community social enterprise which employs people with disabilities to create unique handmade gifts. Next up, continue to Arusha for your flight to Zanzibar.

Day 11 - 14 // Zanzibar

THE ROCK RESTAURANT Perched on a coral outcrop in the Indian Ocean, this restaurant was once a fisherman post. Now serving great food with even better views.

64

Your last few days will be spent completely at leisure to enjoy this Spice Island paradise. During your time here, you may find the almost extinct Zanzibar Red Columbus Monkey, the Zanzibar Servaline Genet, and the Zanzibar Leopard, all of which take up residence here. Lions, monkeys and elephants call Amboseli home. When you see their view of Mt. Kilimanjaro, you'll understand why.

MAASAI PEOPLE

The Maasai people of the Mara have a unique culture, living more or less side by side the likes of the Big 5.

Around six million Kenyans are employed directly or indirectly by the world's dark habit. Incidentally, the perfect safari fuel.

WILDLIFE WEEK

FROM NAIROBI TO NAIROBI

This round-trip from Nairobi takes in Kenya's top three national parks in just seven days.

Scaling down Kenya's 23 national parks and 16 national reserves is hard work. Here's our take on it.

Day 1 - 2 // Nairobi - Maasai Mara National Reserve

Day 1 - 2 // Nairobi - Samburu Game Reserve

Arrive into Kenya’s busy capital. You've time to explore, so visit the Nairobi National Museum or the City Market for crafts and souvenirs. Then, head west to the Maasai Mara National Reserve for wildlife and game drives aplenty.

Arrive in Nairobi and get out to explore. Call by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, one of the leading conservation organisations for wildlife and habitats in East Africa. And to see conservation in action, head north to Samburu Game Reserve, home to cheetah, buffalo, lion and the Samburu tribe.

Day 3 - 4 // Maasai Mara - Lake Nakuru Stop by a Maasai Village to learn about their culture and way of life. To the east and across the plains of the Rift Valley is Lake Nakuru. Having fled in 2014 due to rising water levels, some of its flamingos have now started to return. For lion and leopard sightings, head towards the lake's southern shore.

Day 5 - 6 // Amboseli National Park Visit Lake Naivasha, famous for its birdlife and hippo population, for a calming boat cruise before continuing to Amboseli National Park. Look out for the elephants as you enjoy sundowners with views over Mt. Kilimanjaro. Factor in some additional days if you want to attempt the summit.

Day 7 // Nairobi

INDI hits

Return to Nairobi with a drive over the iconic Athi Plains. Fancy adding on a relaxing beach break to the end of your itinerary? Make your way towards Mombasa and the Indian Ocean. We recommend some time at Diani Beach, popular for its great accommodation and coral mosques.

Day 3 - 4 // Samburu Game Reserve - Aberdare Make the most of your time in Samburu spotting the Big 5 (and the rest) on game drives. Next up, swap deserts for forests as you head south to the Aberdare Mountain Range. Stay in the famous Treetops Lodge, a game lodge literally fit for a Queen (true story) and spot elephants, lions and buffalo.

Day 5 - 6 // Lake Nakuru - Maasai Mara Continue south and make for the spectacular Lake Nakuru. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives and stay in the on-site lodge. To the south lies the Maasai Mara; a reserve directly in the path of the annual wildebeest migration. A nugget of info: the iconic river crossings usually occur Jul-Aug.

Day 7 - 8 // Maasai Mara - Nairobi You'll want to spend at least a day in the Maasai Mara, even more if you're staking out the migration or hoping to spot the rarer, smaller animals like the roan antelope or the bat-eared fox. Return to Nairobi to continue your onward journey.

MAASAI MARA CAMPING

NAIROBI NATIONAL PARK

CARNIVORE RESTAURANT

Swap the city for the Big 5 on a four-day trip to the Maasai Mara. Get to know the area on game drives and optional village visits.

There are over 400 species of animals and birds recorded in this park, all within sight of the capital's high-rise towers.

An all-you-can-eat meat buffet with a twist: crocodile meat skewered on Maasai swords, for example. Veggie options available.

CLASSIC CUBA ROAD TRIP // FROM HAVANA TO HAVANA IN STYLE There's nowhere quite like Cuba. Given its trade embargo with the US, the country has managed to remain relatively untouched by tourism. Now's the time to go, and there's no better way to see it than with your own set of wheels. Day 1 - 2 // Havana Touch down in Cuba's lively capital. Take a stroll along the Malécon seafront promenade and amble between Art Deco theatres, rows of Chevrolet taxis and age-old friends playing chess on the pavements. Then see the night through at a secluded club, Havana-style. Post-night out, pick up your rental car and continue your attack on Havana. We'd recommend taking a tour through town in a classic 1950's car.

Day 3 - 4 // Havana - Viñales Drive along the tobacco route to Pinar del Río, the greenest of all Cuba's provinces. A key stopping point here is Viñales, a lush green area of beautiful hills and old plantations. Here is where you'll see a more traditional side to Cuban life. Get off the beaten track on a bike ride through the Viñales valley, go hiking in the national park or try your luck spotting turtles at nearby beaches.

Day 5 - 6 // Viñales - Cienfuegos - Trinidad Really stretch your car's engine as you make for Cienfuegos, 475kms away. SNORKEL. THE CENOTES OF YUCATÁN, MEXICO

PLAYA TAMARINDO, COSTA RICA

CAYE CAULKER, BELIZE

One of Central America's more established surf spots, and for good reason. Gentle breakers are the ideal training ground for first-time boarders and the backpacker-friendly village has more than its fair share of shake and smoothie shops. The surrounding area is also great for hiking and sailing.

Car-less Caye Caulker is stress-free diving. This is the place where red, green and yellow fish patrol the reefs and red-eyed Rastas patrol the shores. Beginners can spot eagle rays, turtles and nurse sharks while snorkelling; more advanced divers can get deep at the mysterious Blue Hole.

Why go: A hotspot for surfers, foodies and sun-worshippers.

Why go: ‘Don’t worry, be happy’ vibes, turtles, nurse sharks and manatees.

MIRAMAR, NICARAGUA

BAY ISLANDS, HONDURAS

A sedate fishing village somewhere between Granada and León. An offthe-beaten-track gem, it’s blessed with offshore winds and waves for all levels. There’s a designated surf camp, and wiping out goes relatively unnoticed as the only eyes on you will be the resident beach dogs.

Home to the second-largest barrier reef in the world, Honduras is one of the most affordable places to get a PADI dive license. Backpackers head to Utila for beer pong tournaments and drunken slackline attempts, couples to Roatán for beautiful beaches and forested hikes.

Why go: Less crowds, waves to suit all surfers and calming yoga retreats.

Why go: Affordable PADIs, colourful coral reefs and whale sharks.

Scattered across the length of Yucatán are around 2,000 cenotes, natural swimming holes and underground caves filled with fresh water. Once the place where Mayans communicated with the gods, they now make the perfect spot to cool off in the hot Mexican sun. Snorkelling equipment are available to hire at most, and diving is stunning for those with experience thanks to the clarity of the water. Why go: Clear waters, hidden locations and beautiful surroundings.

South America The world's most twinkle-toed continent, home to feathery carnivals, untouched jungle, colourful colonial towns, trekking meccas and ancient cultures.

SALT FLATS & ANDEAN MOUNTAINS // THROUGH CHILE, BOLIVIA & PERU For travellers who've got a thing for natural hyperbola and don't mind spending a bit on flights to make sure they see it all. See the driest desert, the largest salt flat, the highest lake and the most photographed Incan city in the world. Plus, you can get your hands on some of South America's jazziest fabrics. Day 1 - 2 // Santiago Start in Santiago, a modern metropolis surrounded by Andean wilderness. Safe and easily-navigable, this is a fine place to find your feet. Trip up Cerro San Cristobal for cracking views of the city or take a day trip out to the wineries of Undurraga and try some of Chile's finest whites and reds.

Day 3 - 4 // San Pedro de Atacama Fly to Calama and transfer to the oasis village of San Pedro de Atacama. Tour the dusty red town and head to the Moon Valley in Los Flamencos National Reserve to see the sun set over its lunarlike rocks and pink-streaked mountains. During the day why not visit the nearby salt flats and altiplanic lagoons, both fringed by snowy mountains and volcanoes, it's impossible not to take a good picture (unless you're that old guy who had his phone stuck on selfie mode for the entire trip).

Day 5 - 7 // Ojo de Perdiz - Cochani - Uyuni Transfer to the border of Bolivia via steaming geysers and multicoloured lakes, then journey deeper into the Siloli desert.

92

Marvel at the monstrous OllagĂźe Volcano and visit the ghostly railway cemetery just outside of Uyuni. Then continue on to some underwater caves and the vast salt lake of Incahuasi. This region is ripe for exploring, doesn't really matter what order you do it in.

Day 8 - 10 // Uyuni - La Paz - Copacabana - La Paz Take things up a notch and fly to lofty La Paz for a transfer to Copacabana on Lake Titicaca. These peaceful shores are steeped in Incan legend and are a common pit stop for hula-hooping hippies. There are also a series of lovely day hikes, especially on nearby Isla del Sol. Journey back to La Paz for a wander around the witches market and ride the cableway over the city.

Day 11 - 15 // Cuzco - Yucay - Cuzco - Lima Fly to Peru and continue the Incan trail in the Sacred Valley. Visit the alpacas of a local animal sanctuary and check out the wares of Pisac Market. This region is also home to a certain Machu Picchu so you might want to make some time for that! Cuzco seems to be the base for most ruin-focused romps so spend a few days here before flying to Lima. Both towns are easy on the eye, well worth a wander.

MYSTIQUE OF THE ANDES // THROUGH NORTHERN ARGENTINA & PERU This is for nature lovers who like to surround themselves with waterfalls, multicoloured mountains and high-altitude ruins (all of which the Andes do quite well). Begin your Andean adventure in the European-style cafés of Buenos Aires. Tour the colourful La Boca district, seek out Evita in La Recoleta and test your tango feet in an old taverna. If all the steak and wine gets a bit too much (yeah, right) then take a day trip into the peaceful Tigre Delta. There's an old fruit harbour, plenty of canoeable canals and a maté museum dedicated to the traditional love-it-or-hate-it drink.

Return to Salta, and stop at the UNESCO-listed valley of Quebrada de Humahuaca, defined by its colourful crags and rich red views. Fly to coastal Lima. Tour the galleries and café-lined plazas, making the most of one of South America's most palate-pleasing places.

Day 3 - 4 // Buenos Aires - Iguassu Fly out of the city and make for the thunderous falls of Iguassu. Spend a few days here touring both the Brazilian and Argentinian sides. Get a real sense of the scale of the cascades from various viewpoints and opt for a boat ride on the river.

Day 9 - 10 // Cuzco - Sacred Valley Hop on a flight to Cuzco and begin your journey into old-world Peru. Drive to the Sacred Valley, visit the traditional weavers of Awanakancha and explore the markets of spiritual Pisac. Make time for the Incan fortress of Ollantaytambo and overnight in the Sacred Valley.

Avoid the aches and pains of trekking by taking the train and spend more time around the citadel's agricultural terraces, houses and temples. BEST OF PERU & THE AMAZON // FROM THE SOUTH TO THE NORTH Using Lima as a base, journey through the highlights of this beautifully rich South American country. Cover the big distances by plane and conserve your energy for Machu Picchu. Other impressive ruins also available. Day 1 - 2 // Lima - Cuzco - Yucay

Day 5 - 6 // Cuzco - Puno

Low altitude Lima is the perfect place to start any Peru trip before heading into the higher climes of the country. Plus, it's a foodie's favourite. Seek out a ceviche restaurant, browse the art galleries of Miraflores and Barranco, and discover electronic cumbia in the city's clubs and bars. Ascend to Cuzco and transfer to the Sacred Valley. Spend some time with a Chincero community, browse the craft markets and then head to one of our favourite spots, El Mirador de Racchi, for panoramic views of the valley. Overnight in Yucay, a small town around the Urubamba River.

Back in Cuzco, check out the ornate cathedral at Plaza de Armas and explore the Sacsayhuaman ruins above the city. The next bit of the journey is as scenic as they come. It involves a stop at the Sistine Chapel of the Andes, the gold-leafed San Pedro ApĂłstol, as well as the temple ruins of Racchi and Puka Pukara. It ends in Puno, Peru's folkloric capital on the shores of Lake Titicaca.

Day 3 - 4 // Yucay - Machu Picchu - Cuzco A great way to see the valley, for those of you who are fully acclimatised, is to jump on two wheels and cycle the Andean highlands. Stop by Pisac market on a Sunday and see what the local Quechua communities are buying. Later, visit the Incan ruins at Ollantaytambo, the perfect prelude to a visit to Machu Picchu. Ask instore for our best guided tours. You can't go all the way to Cuzco without a little detour to this archaeological wonder. It's against wanderlust rules. Learn about the Lost City of the Incas as you tour the old ruins, make sure you get a few pics with the resident llamas, then head back to Cuzco by train and bus.

Day 7 - 8 // Puno - Lima Take a boat trip out on Lake Titicaca and learn how the indigenous locals live on floating islands. Visit Taquile Island and meet the resident knitters, all men! Later, fly back to Lima. While you’re here, be sure to do a city tour of the San Francisco Convent and Larco Herrera Museum, or maybe even take a flight over the famous Nazca Lines.

Day 9 -12 // Lima - Iquitos - Lima Stock up on mozzie repellent and fly to Iquitos in the Amazon. Sail the world's largest river, take short hikes into the rainforest and keep an eye out for monkeys, caimans and, of course, creepy crawlies. Enjoy a cultural visit to a small village of Yagua Indians and hike to the community's Canopy Walkway before overnighting in Iquitos. Then return to Lima for your onward journey.

SANDBOARDING & NAZCA LINES ADVENTURE Whether driven by action or seduced by nature, this tour covers all bases. There'll be an island sailing trip, sandy adventure sports and an unforgettable flight over the UNESCO-listed Nazca Lines.

Day 1 - 3 // Santa Cruz - Sucre Although Santa Cruz is Bolivia's largest city, it still has a small town feel. At just 416m above sea level, it's a good place to begin your climb into the Andean highlands. Tour the colonial centre and its uncharacteristically flashy bars before flying to the more reserved highland town of Sucre. Defined by its whitewashed walls, this UNESCO-listed site is where Bolivian independence was proclaimed. It's a true showpiece of national pride and culture.

Day 4 - 7 // Potosí - Uyuni - Colchani - Ojo de Perdiz - Uyuni Take the 4-hour bus to Potosí. At over 4000m above sea level, it's worth taking a bit of time getting here. Once known as the 'envy of kings', Potosí's silver made it the wealthiest city of the Americas. Now the treasure is all but gone but the old mines and museums are worth a visit. Continue to Uyuni where a 4WD will take you via the ghostly graveyard of trains to the region's main draw, the immense salt flats. This vast moon-like landscape also features some bizarre rock formations, deep red lagoons, and steaming geysers. Bring props for perspective photos!

SALKANTAY TREK TO MACHU PICCHU Ditch the tourists and trek through cloud forest, past waterfalls and hot springs, to Machu Picchu. Enjoy a guided tour of the ancient Incan citadel before returning to Cuzco. Five-day package.

Day 8 - 10 // La Paz - Copacabana - La Paz Transfer to the airport and fly to La Paz. Then make the short ride to Copacabana on the shores of Lake Titicaca. This lakeside retreat is a sunny pilgrimage spot and a popular base for sailing trips to Isla del Sol. Spend a day hiking to ancient Incan sites and befriend a Shaman to take part in their ceremonies. Jump on a boat back to Copacabana and return to the lofty witch markets of La Paz. Take the cableway over the city and visit the bizarre rock formations of Moon Valley just outside of town.

Day 11 - 12 // Cuzco - Yucay - Machu Picchu - Cuzco Fly to Peru, straight into the old Incan capital of Cuzco. To many this is solely a jump off point for Machu Picchu treks but it's well worth exploring the colourful markets and old colonial churches. When suitably limbered up, go discover the lost city of Machu Picchu. Learn about the people who once lived here and return back to Cuzco.

Day 13 - 15 // Cuzco - Lima If those ancient ruins got you a bit hot under the collar then check out the sites around Cuzco, including the old fortress of Sacsayhuaman. When you're ready, jump on the plane to another colonial masterpiece, Peru's capital, Lima. Visit the old convent and the many art galleries before packing those bags and continuing onward.

THROUGH BIG CITIES & WONDERS

THROUGH BUENOS AIRES & RIO

Brazil is Big. Fly everywhere to get more time in the Amazon, Rio and the samba-mad streets of Salvador.

Two great cities and one big waterfall, this one's for people who like to get to know the places they visit.

Day 1 - 3 // Rio de Janeiro

Day 1 - 3 // Buenos Aires

Touch down in Rio, Brazil’s prize peacock, and check out Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf Mountain. Then head to one of the city’s Baile Funk beach parties in the evening and nurse your dancing feet the following morning on Ipanema beach.

Arrive into Argentina's Parisian capital and get to know the leafy parks and plazas on a city tour. Check out the Lego-like neighbourhood of La Boca, people watch at the central square and tour the magnificent tombs of La Recoleta. If you're around on a Sunday then take some empty bags to the San Telmo flea market. You might also want to day trip out to the Tigre Delta, a pretty riverside refuge for barbecue lovers and weekend warriors. Obviously, you mustn't leave without a little bit of a tango.

Day 4 - 6 // Iguassu Falls - Manaus - Amazon Board a flight to see the mighty Iguassu Falls. See them in action from the Brazilian side, then cross into Argentina to see the famous Devil’s Throat. If you’re feeling adventurous, why not join a boat cruise and see them from below? For a different setting altogether, fly north to Manaus and begin your Amazon river cruise adventure.

Day 4 - 5 // Iguassu Falls

Day 7 - 8 // Amazon Rainforest Take to the water and get up to your elbows in nature, tribal mythology and a LOT of mud. Enjoy full-day excursions and get the chance to see the legendary Meeting of the Waters.

Affectionately known as the country’s Capital of Happiness, make the most of the city’s giant squares, colourful architecture and equally impressive churches. Evenings are all about food and dancing. After all, samba was invented here.

Leave the city for the splashy board walks of Iguassu National Park. Check out the thunderous falls at Devil's Throat on the Argentinian side before crossing the border into Brazil and getting a full frontal of the whole thing. Golly, it's massive!

Day 6 - 8 // Rio de Janeiro Suitably wowed, fly to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil's saucy, sambaloving poster child. Cradled by dramatic mountains and golden beaches, Rio is one of the world's most irresistible cities. These terms will apply to any contract between you and us where we are not acting as the organiser of a package (as defined in the Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018 (the Package Travel Regulations)). 2.2 Our agreement with you will be on the basis of our Package Terms – www.statravel.co.uk/booking-terms-andconditions-post-july-1-2018-package.htm if: (i) you book a trip with us which lasts for more than 24 hours and STA Travel combines two or more of the following travel services for the purposes of that trip: •

Flights or other passenger transport services;

• Accommodation; •

Vehicle hire; and

• “Other travel services” (for example, tours or excursions) which account for a significant proportion of the value of the overall package; or (ii) we have sent your payment and contact details to a third party provider of these travel services and you enter into a contract with them for the same trip within 24 hours after agreeing a contract with us, then. 2.3 In all other cases, these Non-Package Terms will apply to your agreement with STA Travel. This includes cases where you have booked one of the travel services listed in paragraph 2.2 from STA Travel and then another from a third party (even if STA Travel has directed you to that third party).

3. YOUR AGREEMENT WITH US 3.1 These are the terms on which we will make a booking for your travel or holiday requirements. When making your booking we will arrange for you to enter into a contract with the principal(s) or other supplier(s) (e.g. tour operator/ airline/cruise company/accommodation company) named on your receipt(s). In doing so, we act as an agent and accept no responsibility for the acts or omissions of the principal(s) or supplier(s) or for the services provided by them. 3.2 The principal’s(s’) or supplier’s (s’) Terms & Conditions will apply to your booking and we advise you to read these carefully as they do contain important information about your booking. Please ask us for copies of these if you do not have them. When you make a booking, you confirm that, as the lead name, you have the authority to accept and do accept, on behalf of your party, these terms and conditions and those of any other suppliers of travel services applicable to your booking. 3.3 Our Terms of Business are governed by English Law and the jurisdiction of the English Courts. You may however, choose the law and jurisdiction of Scotland or Northern Ireland if you live there and wish to do so. 3.4 By advertising the travel arrangements which we provide or sell and discussing them with you, we are not making an offer to sell those travel arrangements, but an invitation to you to make an offer to the suppliers of the arrangements. We are free to accept that offer on behalf of those suppliers or to reject it. A booking will exist as soon as we issue our confirmation invoice.

4. YOUR TRAVEL BOOKING AND YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION 4.1 When a booking is made all details will be provided to you. Once you have confirmed these details we will proceed to confirm the booking with the principal(s) or supplier(s). Please check that all names, dates and timings are correct on receipt of all documents and advise us of any errors immediately. Any changes to these details may incur charges. Please ensure that the names given are the same as in the relevant passport. 4.2 The booking information that you provide to us will be passed on only to the relevant suppliers of your travel arrangements or other persons necessary for the provision of your travel arrangements. You acknowledge that as part of your booking, we will process personal information that you provide to us about you and other members of your party (and you confirm that you have the right to provide us with personal information about other members of your party) for the purposes of performing our obligations in relation to your booking (which includes, but is not limited to, giving your personal information to airlines, other suppliers of travel services and public authorities (such as customs or immigration) (together “Travel Suppliers”) where this is required for the fulfilment of your arrangements). 4.3 The information may be provided to public authorities such as customs or immigration if required by them, or as required by law. This applies to any special category (sensitive) information that you give to us such as details of any disabilities, or dietary and religious requirements. In making this booking, you consent to this information being passed on to the relevant persons. Certain information may also be passed on to security or credit checking companies. If you are travelling to the United States, the US Customs and Border Protection will receive this information for the purposes of preventing and combating terrorism and other transnational serious crimes. 4.4 If you travel outside the European Economic Area, controls on data protection may not be as strong as the legal requirements in this country. If we cannot pass this information to the relevant suppliers, whether in the EEA or not, we will be unable to provide your booking. The protection of your personal information is important to us, please see our privacy policy (available at www.statravel.co.uk/general-policy. htm) for further details of how we use your information.

5. YOUR FINANCIAL PROTECTION 5.1 Unlike the package holidays we sell, if you buy a single travel service from STA Travel this may not come with protection for your money. When you buy an ATOL protected flight or flight inclusive holiday from us you will receive an ATOL Certificate. This lists what is financially protected, where you can get information on what this means for you and who to contact if things go wrong. 5.2 If, after selecting and paying for one travel service, you book additional travel services for your trip or holiday via our company, you will NOT benefit from rights applying to packages under the Package Travel Regulations 2018. 5.3 Therefore, we will not be responsible for the proper performance of the individual travel services. In case of problems please contact the relevant service provider. 5.4 However, if you book any additional travel services during the same visit to or contact with our company, the travel services will become part of a linked travel arrangement. In that case we have, as required by the Package Travel Regulations, protection in place to refund your payments to us for services not performed because of our insolvency. Please note that this does not provide a refund in the event of the insolvency of the relevant service provider. 5.5 We have taken out insolvency protection with ABTA – The Travel Association (membership number V1958). You can contact ABTA – The Travel Association at 30 Park Street, London, SE1 9EQ; claims@abta.co.uk; if services are denied because of our insolvency. Note: This insolvency protection does not cover contracts with parties other than with us, which can be performed despite our insolvency.

6. DEPOSITS AND PAYMENT 6.1 We may at our discretion operate a low deposit scheme in respect of certain bookings. Under the low deposit scheme the price of your ticket will be guaranteed upon receipt of the deposit. Once the deposit is paid, any changes to your itinerary will incur change penalties or loss of deposit. The low deposit is non-transferable. Only available on new bookings. We will advise you of the date that full payment is required. 6.2 All prices shown are ‘from prices’ and we reserve the right to alter the prices of any of the products shown in our brochure. 6.3 STA Travel do not accept cash or personal cheques as a method of payment. No charge is made for payments made by credit or debit card. After full payment, if we are your Booking Agent or Airline Ticket Agent, the conditions of the contract with your airline or other supplier of travel services may permit them to increase the cost of your arrangements. We will pass on the details of any such increase to you and we will collect the additional amounts from you on behalf of the airline or other supplier of travel services (as their agent).

7. DOCUMENTATION 7.1 Our general practice is to send documents to our customers electronically whenever possible. We reserve the right to charge an administration fee should you make a request for such documents to be sent as hard copy. 7.2 Your travel documents are valuable and should be safeguarded as if they were cash. It is not always possible to replace travel documents in the case of loss, theft, damage etc.

8. CANCELLATIONS AND CHANGES If we are your Booking Agent or Airline Ticket Agent, your contract with your airline or other supplier of travel services may permit them to cancel or amend bookings. We will ensure that you are promptly notified of any significant changes to your booking, but we accept no liability for any changes or costs incurred which may result.

9. IMPORTANT NOTE CHANGES BEYOND OUR CONTROL 9.1 Compensation will not apply if a significant change is made for reasons beyond our control. These reasons include (but are not limited to): war, threat of war, riots, civil disturbances, terrorist activity, industrial disputes, natural and nuclear disasters, fire, epidemics, health risks, changes due to rescheduling or cancellation of flights by an airline or alteration of the airline or aircraft type; closed or congested airports or ports, hurricanes and other actual or potential severe weather conditions, and any other similar event. 9.2 If you have booked a flight and we are alerted to a significant schedule change by your airline before you leave the UK, we will contact you by email to advise you of this. Please ensure that you have given us your contact email address and that you regularly check for messages before you leave. We have no control over airline schedule changes and we accept no liability for costs which may arise as a result of such changes. After you have left the UK, it is your responsibility to check with the airline that any onward flights you have confirmed are operating as booked. We strongly recommend that you contact your airline at least 72 hours before the scheduled departure of each flight to do this. Please note that for some airlines it is mandatory to confirm with them your intention to fly.

10. OUR RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR ARRANGEMENTS 10.1 Nothing in this section or elsewhere in these terms and conditions is intended to or shall operate to exclude our

liability for performance of our obligations under the Package Travel Regulations and/or the ATOL Regulations. 10.2 In all circumstances, we will not be liable where any failure in the performance of the contract is due to: you (including, without limitation, unacceptable behaviour by you); or a third party unconnected with the provision of the travel arrangements and where the failure is unforeseeable or unavoidable; or due to unusual or unforeseeable circumstances beyond our control, the consequences of which could not have been avoided even if all due care had been exercised; or an event which we or the other suppliers of travel services, even with all due care, could not foresee or forestall. 10.3 Except as otherwise stated in these terms and conditions, any relevant international convention and in cases involving death or injury caused by our negligence or fraud, we have no liability to you for the actual performance of the services by the other suppliers of travel services unless it is proved that we have breached our duty to select the suppliers with reasonable care and skill and damage to you has been caused as a result of that breach. 10.4 Please note that any other suppliers of travel services who provide services as part of your arrangement may also limit their liability to you. We cannot accept responsibility for any services which do not form part of the contract between you and us. As such, you are advised to read the terms and conditions of any other suppliers of travel services who are supplying services to you. 10.5 You can ask for copies of the suppliers’ terms and conditions, or the international conventions, from the relevant supplier or from us by contacting Customer Relations, STA Travel, St Georges House, 56 Peter Street, Manchester M2 3NQ. Or email your request to us at www.statravel.co.uk/ customer-services.htm.

11. IF YOU CHANGE YOUR BOOKING 11.1 Where a change to your travel arrangements is permitted and possible, STA Travel service fees apply in addition to any additional supplier charges. Please see the FAQ pages on www. statravel.co.uk for details of how to request changes. Please note that all reservation changes are subject to availability and the terms and conditions of the services purchased. Changes to name details are not allowed by many airlines and other suppliers of travel services. Whilst we do our best to make such a change if necessary, please bear in mind that most airlines and other suppliers of travel services treat a name change as a cancellation, to which standard conditions and cancellation charges apply. 11.2 Flights must be taken in the sequence they appear on your ticket or e-ticket confirmation. If you plan not to take a flight as booked, please contact the airline as far in advance as possible to discuss your options. If you do not check in on time for a confirmed reservation, the airline may register you as ‘noshow’, which could result in extra charges and/or your whole flight itinerary being cancelled and/or render your ticket void.

12. IF YOU CANCEL YOUR BOOKING 12.1 If you cancel your arrangements, you may be entitled to a partial refund. In addition to any cancellation fees set out in any supplier of travel services’ terms and conditions (which may be 100% of the cost of the travel arrangements), we will also charge the cancellation fees outlined on your receipt. We need to receive written notification of cancellation and your original ticket/voucher from you before any refund can be considered. If you decide to cancel arrangements before the balance due date, any deposits paid are non-refundable. Refunds will only be paid to you once we have received the funds back from the relevant supplier of travel services. Generally flight tickets cannot be refunded if they are partially used. If the reason for your cancellation is covered under the terms of your travel insurance policy, you may be able to reclaim your cancellation charges through your insurer. 12.2 If the person paying for the booking (the paying customer) is different from the travelling customer, and the paying customer wishes to cancel or withdraw the funding of any

booked tickets, STA Travel will notify the travelling customer of the paying customer’s funding withdrawal and give the travelling customer the option of continuing with the booking, subject to payment of the full cost of the travelling customer’s booked ticket by the travelling customer. If, following this notification, the travelling customer does not pay the full cost of his or her booked ticket, the booked ticket will be cancelled and the amount paid by the paying customer in relation to the booked ticket will be refunded to the paying customer (subject to the relevant supplier of travel services’ terms and conditions and the provisions of previous paragraph of these terms and conditions). Any airline costs/charges associated with the cancellation will be deducted from the refund due to the paying customer. STA Travel will not charge a cancellation fee in these circumstances.

13. IF YOU HAVE A COMPLAINT 13.1 Because the contract(s) for your travel arrangements is between you and the principal(s) or supplier(s), any queries or concerns relating to the travel arrangements should be addressed to them. If you have a problem whilst on holiday, this must be reported to the principal/supplier or their local supplier or agent immediately. If you fail to follow this procedure there will be less opportunity to investigate and rectify your complaint. The amount of compensation you may be entitled to may be reduced or you may not receive any at all depending upon the circumstances. If you wish to complain when you return home, write to the principal/supplier. You will see the name and address plus contact details in any confirmation documents we send you. We will of course assist you with this if you wish - please contact us in the UK, either through the office where you made your arrangements, or through www.statravel.co.uk/customer-services.htm. 13.2 If the matter cannot be resolved and it involves us or another ABTA Member then you have the option to use ABTA’s ADR scheme, approved by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute, see www.abta.com. You can also access the European Commission Online Dispute (ODR) Resolution platform at http:// ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr/. This ODR platform is a means of notifying us of your complaint; it will not determine how your complaint should be resolved.

14. PASSPORTS, VISA AND IMMIGRATION REQUIREMENTS We can provide general information about the passport and visa requirements for your trip. Your specific passport and visa requirements, and other immigration requirements are your responsibility and you should confirm these with the relevant Embassies and/or Consulates. Neither we nor the principal(s) or supplier(s) accept any responsibility if you cannot travel because you have not complied with any passport, visa or immigration requirements. Please note that these requirements may change between booking and departure. Most countries now require passports to be valid for at least 6 months after your return date. Please take special note that for all air travel within the British Isles, airlines require photographic identification of a specific type. Please ask us for full details. We can provide general information about any health formalities required for your trip but you should check with your own doctor for your specific circumstances.

15. INSURANCE Travel insurance is an important part of your arrangements. You should take out adequate insurance for the duration of your journey. Travel insurance is a mandatory element of some travel arrangements. We can arrange travel insurance for you and provide you with a quote and answer any queries you may have regarding the insurance we can offer.

places you are intending to visit. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have arranged necessary vaccinations for your itinerary. Information on health and any vaccinations required to travel is available from your GP and on the Public Health England website: www.gov.uk/government/organisations/publichealth-england. 16.3 Alternatively, the STA Travel Clinic offers a full range of travel vaccinations, anti-malarials and expert advice as well as other services for your travel health needs. Locations, open hours and consultation appointments can be viewed/booked online at: www.statravelclinic.co.uk/. 16.4 It is your responsibility to behave in a reasonable and responsible manner over the course of your travels, including abiding by any local laws and by-laws. We reserve the right to immediately cancel any travel arrangements in the event of unruly behaviour towards airline/ hotel / supplier representatives or other guests and you will be liable in full for cancellation charges and the costs of purchasing replacement accommodation and air tickets.

17. EU NOTICE REQUIREMENTS 17.1 Under EU law (Regulation (EC) 2111/2005), we are required to bring to your attention the existence of a ‘Community List’, which contains details of air carriers that are subject to an operating ban within the EU. The Community List is available for inspection at http://ec.europa.eu/transport/ modes/air/safety/air-ban/index_en.htm. We are also obliged to notify you of the airline(s) to be used in your booking. For details please see your booking confirmation or itinerary. You will be notified if any carrier changes as soon as possible and in all cases at check-in or at the boarding gate. Please note that a change of carrier is not considered to be a significant change to your arrangements. 17.2 Under EU law (Regulation (EC) 261/2004) you have rights in some circumstances to refunds and/or compensation from your airline in cases of denied boarding, cancellation or delay to flights. Details of these rights will be publicised at EU airports and will also be available from your airline. The airlines are responsible for compensating you in these circumstances. Please note that, if affected flights comprise part of a Package arranged on your behalf, any reimbursement from the airline under these regulations will not automatically entitle you to cancel and/or obtain a refund of your Package cost from us. Further information about your rights is available from the CAA www.caa.co.uk.

18. ACCOMMODATION PRICING Prices and offers are correct at time of print (Jan 2020) and subject to change and further terms and conditions. Offers are subject to availability and are sometimes not combinable. Blackout periods may apply. Ask your Travel Expert for full details at time of booking. Prices shown in this brochure are ‘per person, per night’ for the meal plan shown, and are based on the cheapest season for travel to each destination. Unless otherwise stated, accommodation prices exclude any locally-payable supplements such as city taxes, visitor or ‘tourist’ taxes, and hotel resort fees. Airport transfers, where these are a compulsory requirement in order to reach your hotel, are also excluded and will need to be arranged separately at the time of booking. Photographic representation deemed accurate at time of print.

16. TRAVEL ADVICE AND VACCINATIONS 16.1 British Citizens should refer to the travel advice posted by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office at www.fco.gov.uk for all the countries you intend to visit. You should take advice about the health precautions you need to take prior to departure. 16.2 Vaccinations may be required for some or all of the
