WHAT OUR PROGRAM AIMS TO DO We work with local universities every year to offer successful students a 12-month placement program. We offer students opportunities in administration, health & safety, marketing, product and most recently account management. In 2019/20 we will be employing 5 full-time students on a placement basis, supporting them in attaining their respective degrees. “What haven’t I learnt during my placement? From team work to presentation skills, the list goes on! During my placement at STA Travel, I developed professionally, and I am confident I now possess the skills and confidence to enter the working world after graduation.”

WHAT MAKES OUR PLACEMENTS DIFFERENT Our placements have been described by applicants as ‘hands on’. From the interview stages, right through to their final days, STA Travel aim to make sure each student has an enriching and authentic experience, whilst ensuring they are supported throughout their time with us.

STA Travel aim to prepare students for the working world ahead & more importantly for their final year of study. Continued support, training and 121’s from management are always putting the students’ needs at the centre of development plans.


WHY OUR PROGRAM IS SO IMPORTANT We aim to support our academic accounts every step of the way. Beyond the Lot 1, 2 & 3 contracts, we want to ensure we are supporting our academic accounts above and beyond what’s written in the terms of a contract. Our senior management team highlighted an opportunity to support accounts further, which

birthed our highly successful placement program. We hold our placement program, and the students who embark on this journey with us, in high regard. It’s just one of the many ways we support our academic accounts, their students & take on their values.

CASE STUDY ROSHNI SAMANI Roshni started her career in travel as an intern on a 12-month placement. Studying International business, Roshni always had an interest in travel and business. After just 12 months with STA Travel, Roshni established herself as an influential member, not only to the department, but the division & the company. Quickly adapting into full-time employment, Roshni is one of the many success stories our placement program has birthed. Roshni now sits within the Online Support team where she is highly important to the day-today running & innovation within the team.

Roshni stayed part-time with STA Travel during her final year of study, balancing the demands of a fast-paced role and full-time education. Roshni now manages the placement program at STA Travel, ensuring that all new younger employees feel welcomed into working for STA Travel and mentoring any students who feel they need a friendly face to chat to.

ANNA SMITH Anna acquired work at STA Travel through the use of her universities employability portal. Through the university portal Anna was hired on a part time basis, getting involved with marketing projects during time that her education allowed her.

her full-time career as a Marketing Executive. A short while later Anna interviewed for a Senior Marketing Executive role at STA Travel and was successful in her application. Anna went on to manage the B2B Product & Marketing team.

During her placement at STA Travel, Anna quickly built upon her time management skills, communication, creative flare & interpersonal skills. These skills were integral to her high mark during her final year at university. Anna quickly became an essential member of the STA Travel family.

When the opportunity arose for Anna to transfer to an international division, Anna quickly stepped up as marketing manager for the South Africa division. Holding this position for little over year, Anna had developed the skills within the international team, allowing her to replicate her success in New Zealand where she now holds the role as Marketing & Product Manager.

Upon graduating from university, Anna was awarded a full-time position at STA Travel. Starting

MOLLY CHAPMAN Using the employability hub at her university, Molly interviewed for a 12-month placement in 2015. Securing the placement, Molly spent the following 12 months in a varied and taxing placement. She was involved with marketing projects from the basics, right through to the high-level campaigns. At the end of her placement, Molly was offered a part-time role at STA Travel to accompany her last year of study. During her part-time work STA

Travel were flexible, allowing extended study leave, flexibility on working hours and continued handson support. This support saw Molly achieve a first during her final year. Molly returned to STA Travel on a full-time basis after exam season. At this time, Molly held the role of Marketing Executive, interviewing for Marketing Manager in December 2017 and securing the role in 2018.
