Accounting?
As a graduate of the accounting degree program from St. Kate’s College for Adults, you will be prepared for careers including:

St. Kate’s Accounting graduates have secured jobs at leading firms such as Deloitte, 3M, Ecolab and Wells Fargo. Within two years of employment, public accountants frequently move into advanced positions as partners, internal auditors, accounting managers, budget directors, chief cost accountants, and more.
Employment of accountants and auditors is projected to grow 10 percent from 2016–2026, faster than the average for all occupations, according to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). In 2023, according to the BLS, the median annual earnings for accountants and auditors was $79,8800.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Licensure
After graduating with your major in Accounting, you may meet provisions of the Minnesota State Board of Accountancy to sit for the Uniform Examination for the CPA. To become certified, you’ll need to have earned a minimum of 150 semester credits.
In the state of Minnesota, individuals have three years upon CPA exam completion to earn the additional 30 credits.
If you need to earn additional credits beyond the 120 required for your bachelor’s, you may complete them at St. Kate’s at the undergraduate or master’s level.

Master’s Pathway
While pursuing your bachelor’s degree in the College for Adults, you may be eligible to take 1-2 courses from select St. Kate’s graduate programs, such as Business Administration (MBA) or Organizational Leadership (MAOL). Credits earned will count toward both your bachelor’s and your future master’s.
Class scheduling / time to completion
The major courses meet online, with a combination of synchronous and asynchronous learning formats.
The Accounting major may be completed in 21 months. You may need longer to complete liberal arts and elective requirements.

Business portfolio
In your portfolio, you will integrate skills and knowledge you bring with you as an adult student with knowledge you’ve gained in the Accounting major. You’ll validate your experiences at St. Kate’s and reflect on how you’ll connect them to your work. The portfolio is cumulative you’ll complete most aspects during course work throughout the program.

CORE liberal arts courses
• CORE 1000W: The Reflective Woman: The Reflective Practitioner (4 credits)
• CORE 3990W: Global Search for Justice (4 credits)
• Behavioral and Social Sciences: choose one from communication studies, economics, political science, psychology or sociology (except ECON 1080, 1090, or PSYC 1090)
• Mathematics or Logical Reasoning: choose one from ECON 1080, ECON 1090, HLTH 1090, PSYC 1090, PHIL 2150, STAT 1089, STAT 1090, or any four-credit MATH course numbered 1000 or higher, except MATH 2500 and MATH 2510
• Natural Sciences: choose one course with a laboratory and/or field component in biology, chemistry, or physics
• Arts and Humanities: choose two courses from different disciplines: philosophy (except PHIL 2150), literature, history, foreign language, studio art, art history, creative writing, classics.
• Theology: choose one 1000 or any 2000-level theology course (except 2994 Topics)

Core course exemptions
Students pursuing the Accounting major who have completed a previous bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution prior to enrollment at St. Catherine University are exempt from the CORE curriculum requirements.
Students who have completed an A.A. degree from a regionally accredited institution, or the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum, can satisfy the CORE curriculum requirements by taking CORE 3990
