What can I do with a Community Health Worker certificate?
Courses for the CHW certificate meet in an online, synchronous format, primarily on Tuesday evenings.
The Community Health Worker (CHW) certificate will qualify you for jobs where you’ll help clients navigate through healthcare systems and community services. CHWs serve as advocates, facilitators, motivators, culture brokers and resources for the community. CHWs help clients overcome barriers to accessing and benefiting from health services.
The 16-credit CHW certificate may be completed in nine months, starting in the Fall or Spring semesters.
Community Health Workers are trusted, knowledgeable frontline health personnel who typically come from the communities they serve. As critical links between their communities and health care systems, CHWs reduce health disparities; increase access to quality health care; and empower individuals and communities to improve their well-being. • • • • • • • •
