– ANIA SALCEDO ’22 ART INTERNATIONALHISTORY, STUDIES
Attending college is a serious and exciting investment in your future — for you, your family, and St. Catherine University.
St. Kate’s offered the best financial aid and the most attention and support. I wouldn’t have been given this much support if I’d gone to a larger school.

What job opportunities are available to me?
How is financial need determined?
In addition to merit scholarships for which you may qualify, students can help meet college costs through a federal student or parent loan program or a job on or off campus.
Students offered work-study may use St. Kate’s Priority Job Placement program or apply for jobs in their first year via KatieCareer by Handshake.
Merit scholarships are renewable, provided you stay enrolled full time and make satisfactory academic progress toward your degree. You must reapply for need-based financial aid each year.
What will my financial aid package look like in subsequent years?
Assuming your family’s financial circumstances remain consistent from year to year, you can expect a similar level of aid for each of your undergraduate years, subject to federal and state regulation and appropriation. You must also meet application deadlines and maintain satisfactory academic progress as outlined in the financial aid policy section of the St. Kate’s catalog.
We want to make sure you understand how your financial aid works. Attend a Financial Aid & Student Life Day event January 28, 2023 or March 11, 2023 to go over your financial aid offer with an admission counselor. Plus, learn about student activities and living on campus!
How is financial aid offered?
A financial aid offer includes grants and/or scholarships, student loans, and on-campus work for students who qualify, and it is prepared by one of our financial aid counselors. A student is not required to accept a job or loan to receive a scholarship or grant.
What is the FAFSA?
To apply for student financial aid, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year. File as soon as possible after October 1 of your senior year of high school. St. Catherine University FAFSA code is 002342.
The Expected Family Contribution (EFC) is used to determine a student’s eligibility for aid. The EFC is parental contribution plus student contribution. Expected parental contribution is based on income and assets, family size, and number of children in college. Student contribution is derived from income, savings, and other assets. If your EFC is less than your total cost of attendance, you are considered to have financial need. St. Kate’s will meet as much of this need as possible through a combination of St. Kate’s scholarships and grants; state, federal, and private grants; student loans; student employment (work-study); and low-interest student and parent loans.
