2-for-1
The Classes
only program that requires two field experiences
earn a bachelor’s degree and doctorate in 6 years
In this unique dual-degree program, the departments of biology, psychology, and exercise and sport science offer a sequence that includes all Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and liberal arts core requirements, and courses that constitute a concentration in one of these majors. You earn a bachelor’s degree while pursuing the DPT.
Each of the three areas of study (biology, psychology, exercise and sport science) includes prerequisites in math, biology, anatomy, physiology, chemistry, physics, psychology, statistics, and medical terminology — while still providing a special emphasis in the particular area of study. First-year courses in each area of study are identical, to help you discover which path most interests you!
The Career Advantage Physical therapy is one of the fastest growing areas in healthcare. This major prepares you for further study in the field. With a DPT in hand, you’ll be well-suited for a career in sports medicine, injury and surgery rehab, geriatric therapy, treatment of neurological patients, palliative care, and other rewarding specialties.
The St. Kate’s Difference Unique internship opportunities, a very diverse student body, an emphasis on women’s global health issues, and talented faculty who are experts in the field are just some of the distinctive features of our program! We emphasize working with academic and community partners near and far to make a difference.
100% of students get hands-on experiences in the Women’s Health Integrative Research (WHIR) Center, our state-of-the-art research lab!
82% of St. Catherine University’s faculty are women.
Doctor of Physical Therapy Program Our Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) breaks from traditional programs by integrating basic and clinical sciences in meaningful, relevant ways. Coursework is organized around practice settings and issues, rather than academic disciplines. Ethics, leadership, and cultural diversity are stressed throughout. We offer three admission options for pre-PT: • First-year students may apply to the early admission program during fall of their high school senior year. • 3+3 open admission is for current and transfer students in their junior year, provided all program and admission requirements are met. • Senior Open Admission is for current and transfer students enrolled in a bachelor’s program who meet all admission, DPT, major, and liberal arts requirements.
