They’re more than just pictures – they can be lifesavers. This program prepares you for a rewarding career using specialized equipment to create and evaluate images within the human body, while treating patients compassionately. As one of only two such programs in the upper Midwest that will prepare you for advanced level practice, you can choose from the abdomen-extended, obstetrics, and gynecology track, or echocardiography, which focuses on the heart. Our students are employed within the first six months of graduating! Become a leader in this fulfilling field.
YOU WILL LEARN TO:
• Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations
• Play a role in recognizing disease and abnormalities in the heart and other organs
• Understand and practice ultrasound scanning techniques and postures
• Develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Provide high-quality patient care
• Collaborate with physicians and other members of the healthcare team

DIAGNOSTIC MEDICAL SONOGRAPHER
Work in a hospital or clinic environment with a variety of different patients and areas of the body
ADULT CLINICAL CARDIAC SONOGRAPHER
Work with cardiac patients in hospitals and specialty clinics to study the heart and its surrounding structures using advanced technologies
OB/GYN SONOGRAPHER
Focus on finding potential abnormalities in the female reproductive system and monitoring the development of a fetus
CLINICAL CONNECTIONS: Train at superior, accredited clinical sites and major medical centers in Minnesota and beyond.

Sonography students will practice skills and learn how to work with teams of other healthcare professionals in our real-life, high-tech simulation spaces. Our seven dedicated simulation staff and three certified healthcare simulation educators (CHSE) create highly realistic situations that you can expect – and those that you may not – to ensure you are well-prepared to think critically and collaborate effectively right out of the gate.
