ABOUT ST. CATHERINE UNIVERSITY One of the largest private women’s universities in the nation, St. Catherine University educates women to lead and influence, meeting students where they are, and preparing them for where they want to be. With one of the most diverse student bodies of private colleges in Minnesota, our community of learners spans age, background, race, beliefs, and more. Our students graduate from programs informed by social justice, ready to lead and influence in their fields. St. Kate’s students learn and discern wisely, and live and serve justly — all to power lives of meaning.
INCREASING ACCESS FOR WOMEN SINCE 1905 Women’s colleges remain a critical part of redressing gender imbalance in the workforce — even though women now represent more than half the degree-holding U.S. workforce, they remain underrepresented in many fields and in executive roles, occupying only 25% of C-suite positions.¹ Graduates of women’s institutions are twice as likely to complete graduate degrees as those who obtain degrees from state universities, and more likely to say that their college was extremely or very effective in helping prepare them for their first job.²
ACADEMIC MASTER PLAN 2020-2023 The Academic Master Plan initiatives build on the St. Catherine University foundation of academic programming, focusing on interdisciplinary offerings, inclusive excellence, and cultural fluency. Office of Scholarly Engagement was developed to offer learning opportunities to help students hone their leadership and scholarship skills, and the Compass, which provides students with the tailored tools, guidance, support, and experience to build their professional skills while exploring their passions. The Academic Master Plan emphasizes degree programs at both the undergraduate and graduate level that enhance and promote career development through women-centered programming. The plan identifies University marquee programs which reflect our mission and highlight leadership and social justice. These include: • Health sciences • Nursing • Business • Policy • Data science

My expectation coming to St. Kate’s was that my education would prepare me to use my voice regardless of the professional path I chose — and it has. This has been so valuable, especially in sales, which is historically a male-dominated profession. Having women leaders from 3M speak to my classes allowed me to see that it is possible for women to drive sales, business, and excellence. I also learned early in my business classes about the correlation between preparation and demonstrating competence. This skill has helped me immensely as I grow in my career, and it has enabled me to speak up confidently. — Allie Oelfke ’13, Healthcare Sales
Employers know the value of a Katie: “I continue to be impressed with the caliber of talent we see coming from St. Kate’s, with recent graduates quickly ramping and adjusting to their new roles due to the quality of the instruction they receive in the classroom.” – Kristy Pittman, Vice President of Sales, Protolabs
