A Note From the College President ... Spring is on the way and so is competitive intercollegiate action on the beautiful SCC softball field. The Cougar softball team, under the direction of Coach Jenn Beckmann, is sure to provide excitement to the college campus. We invite students, faculty, staff and the community to attend any of the home games. As always, the campus community will cheer on the young and talented softball team. It is always invigorating to watch the program grow and improve each year as we welcome new faces in the lineup and in the classroom. We salute the Cougar softball players as they work toward a successful season. We know the women will strive to perform equally well in the classroom as on the softball field. Best Wishes,
John McGuire College President
A Note From the Director of Athletics ... The 2011 season is upon us. We are really excited to get out on the fields and play ball. Our schedule is competitive and our facilities continue to improve. Our fans are outstanding in their support of our teams and in rooting us on to victory. Our coaches and student-athletes are focused, striving for excellence on the field and in the classroom. Our graduates continue to support the program, some assisting us in the coaching arena. The athletes are good campus citizens and have been volunteering with various campus projects. Please visit our campus and enjoy some excellent competition between the SCC Cougars and other great teams. You can’t go wrong by rooting for the Cougars. Be sure and wear your maroon and gray to show your Cougar Pride! Best Wishes,

About the Coaches Jenn Beckmann enters her second season as head coach of the St. Charles Community College women’s softball program. She was previously the assistant coach, in charge of hitting and outfield. Coach Beckmann took over the team midway through last year, and helped the Cougars post a 5-7 record. Beckmann has more than 10 years of playing, coaching and instructing experience. Coach Beckmann played for the SCC Cougars softball team from 2004-2006. She was the starting first baseman for two years, earned All-Conference recognition her sophomore year, and set many hitting records. She held the record for most home runs in a season, which was broken last season by pitcher/first basemen Chelsea Zerrer. Beckmann still holds the record for most home runs in a career for the Cougars, and she’s in the top 10 in seven different hitting categories. After SCC, Beckmann transferred to the University of Missouri-St. Louis where she lettered two years and graduated with a degree in communication. She is currently pursuing a master’s in secondary education while giving private hitting instructions at All-Star Academy in Valley Park.
JENN BECKMANN HEAD COACH
Michelle Patrico enters her first year as assistant coach at St. Charles Community College. She was the assistant coach for seven years at Webster University, where she helped lead the Gorloks to two trips to the regional tournament. At Webster, she coached two All-Americans, several All-Regional players and numerous All-Conference players. Patrico is currently the head coach at Trinity Catholic High School, where she has led the Titans to three consecutive District championships. Patrico earned her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Lindenwood University. During her four-year career, she helped lead the team to three trips to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Tournament, finishing in the top five twice and in the top 10 once. As a four-year starter, Patrico earned All-Conference Player of the Year, All-Regional Player of the Year, and was named as an NAIA All-American. At the time of her graduation, Patrico held several national tournament records. Her most recent honor was being inducted into Lindenwood’s Athletic Hall of Fame.

In August 2010, the SCC women’s softball program teamed up with Habitat for Humanity to build a house for a needy family. The girls donated their Saturday and worked from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. putting wood flooring down, cleaning windows and clearing water. Team building was the theme for the day, and the girls worked hard together to get their jobs done. They learned what it took to build a house and walked away with a feeling of accomplishment. Once it was finished, the house was featured on KSDK News Channel 5 because it was built completely by women.
