ACADEMIC ENHANCEMENT ACT Test Prep

Preparation is the key to maximize your test score in order to maximize scholarships and attend the college of your choice. Each component of the test prep program focuses on the most essential skills students need, including the latest and most proven test-taking strategies and tips. Review each section of the test while learning tips, mastering strategies and reviewing the skills necessary to do well on each section. A test prep pre-test will be given the first night and then analyzed to show strengths and weaknesses. Bring a calculator and #2 pencil to class. ActivStars Cheer (Ages 4-16)

Program promotes coordination, confidence, poise, physical fitness, artistic expression and competitive spirit. Students learn fundamentals of cheerleading, cheer routines, stunting, how to perform in front of audiences and preparation for tryouts for junior high or high school teams. $8 per week for a 45-minute session for ages 4-9 yrs., payable at each practice; $9 per week for a 60-minute session for ages 10 & up, payable at each practice. about teaching kids? ActivStars Self-Defense/Karate (Ages 4-16)

Classes are designed for each age group with an emphasis placed on teaching personal safety and stranger awareness. Students learn discipline, respect and personal responsibility. Karate techniques are taught to be able to increase in belt rank. $8 per 45-minute session for beginners, payable at each class; $9 per 60-minute session for advanced, payable at each class. Explore the world of stylish and elegant handwriting. Beginners will learn italic script, which is the easiest to learn and often considered to be one of the most beautiful styles. Transform your furniture with paint! Get hands-on instructions from a local master furniture painter. Bring in your own small piece of furniture or cabinet door to paint in class and get expertise guidance on how to change your piece from drab to fab. Learn what type of paint is best for the look you want to achieve for your painted piece. Use paints like: chalk-style paint, acrylic paint or wood gel stains. In this performance class, participants prepare choral music of various styles and genres culminating in a public performance at the end of the semester. Though expert sight reading is not required, some prior musical experience is necessary for success. All ages (16+) and voice parts (SATB) needed. Come sing with us! Suzuki Music Education

A performance course where students study through rehearsals, culminating in a public performance. Enrollment in Concert Band is helpful. Must provide your own instrument.

Suzuki is based on the concept that children can be taught to play an instrument in much the same way they learn to speak. Violin, viola, cello and piano are available. Introduction to Voiceovers – One-on-One Video Session

This fun and empowering 90-minute introductory workshop covers the different types of voiceovers and what tools are needed to find success. You’ll be coached as you read a script and recorded so you can receive a professional voice evaluation later. An Introduction to Voiceovers

Explore the fun, rewarding possibilities of the voiceover industry! Discover current trends in the industry and how they make it easy and affordable for just about anyone to get involved. Learn about the different types of voiceovers and the tools you’ll need to succeed. Your instructor, a professional, working voice actor from Voices For All, will take notes as you read a real script, and offer some coaching to improve your delivery. Learn how to up your game in nature and scenic photography using the equipment you already own. You don't have to go to exotic locations to get great nature shots. Nature begins in your own backyard! Discover how to get the most out of whatever equipment you have while shooting scenes, wildlife and macro/close-ups. Class meets four times and takes two field trips. Discover a new world with close-up photography. Learn how to produce amazing art images using everyday materials. Everyone will be guessing how you did it! Just because the sun has set over the horizon doesn't mean that it's time to pack up your camera! Taking photographs at night is a much greater challenge than daytime, but if you've always wanted to try and get those fun images of fireworks, city skylines and carnivals, then this class is for you. Most users are unaware of rich features built into MS Word to make authoring a book much easier. Learn how MS Word can automatically create a table of contents and index and update the page numbers on them as changes are made to your text. Cardio Core Strength

Basic Strengthening Yoga

Learn the basics and understand how breathing and postures are linked together when used in action. Alignment, breath and body engagement will be introduced focusing on broadening, lengthening and spiraling. Yoga postures will be supported by specific ankle, spine and core strength and exercises. Gentle Yoga I

Learn the basics of proper alignment, lengthening the spine, and understanding how breathing and postures are linked together when used in motion and stillness. Most postures are taught with students seated on chairs with props as supports. Standing postures are taught with chairs as balance support. Learn yoga basics of proper alignment, lengthened spine and engaged limbs, while continuing to honor your body with a gentle, mindful practice.
