FREE TUTORING AND COMPUTER USE
ACADEMIC ADVISING AND COUNSELING
The ACE Tutoring Center offers free tutoring in math, science, English, French, Spanish and study skills. Study courses are available in spelling, vocabulary and geometry. In the computer lab, you’ll find more than 90 workstations for typing papers and Internet access, plus Mac computers for multimedia projects.
SCC’s academic advisors can help guide you toward productive academic decision making, such as setting goals, choosing the right courses and developing an educational plan, all based on your interests and abilities.

SCC-sponsored transfer, college majors and job fairs are a big help, too.
COLLEGE-LEVEL CLASS PREP SCC offers developmental courses – nontransferable credit classes that prepare you for college-level work. You may also benefit from the Success Semester program, a college preparatory opportunity that gives you the skills you need to succeed in college classes.

Low-interest loans can help finance your college education. The money you receive must be repaid at a future date. The Federal Work Study Program offers part-time campus employment in a variety of roles such as tutors and office and lab assistants.
Do you qualify for the A+ Program at SCC? Ask your high school to forward a transcript indicating that you are an A+ eligible recipient. Then set up a meeting with an SCC counselor to build your schedule.

COUGAR ATHLETICS Athletic opportunities at SCC include four intercollegiate sports teams: soccer and baseball for men, along with soccer and softball for women. All four teams compete at the NJCAA Division 1 level. Club sports include basketball, cheerleading and SCC’s 10-time national championshipwinning roller hockey team.

FEBRUARY

Begin your financial aid application process once your taxes are complete. You can start by completing a FAFSA application at fafsa.gov.
Registration for summer and fall classes begins. Don’t forget: the early bird gets the worm, so register early for best class availability.
Trustee and Foundation scholarship applications are due March 1, so February is the time to start filling them out. Download applications at stchas.edu/scholarships, or visit Room 1113 of the Administration Building for help.
MARCH It’s testing time! Your English, math and reading scores indicate academic areas where you are strong and where you may need help. Testing is done on a walk-in basis; contact the Assessment Center or visit Student Center Room 133 to get started.
