We are the outstanding women of tomorrow.

We are grateful Our Future

There is so much to be thankful for. Since our founding we have been a small community committed to preparing our students to become tomorrow’s leaders. I am excited to be planning for the future, one that continues to focus on what is best for our girls. As a School, we have always found ways to achieve whatever goals we set for ourselves philanthropically. As our Board continues its work on the Campus Master Plan and our staff advance their work on curriculum and learning environments, I am grateful for our community’s financial support. Your donations this year have enabled us to update one of each of our junior, middle, and senior classrooms. In addition to ensuring increased flexibility for Grades 1 and 8, it has enabled us to respond to our students’ growing interest in the sciences with the creation of a flexible lab space that can accommodate a variety of courses and co-curricular activities. Your support has also allowed for the rooftop refurbishment, beginning in May 2020, into an outdoor space that will give our girls room to play, study, be still, and to engage in classes and co-curricular activities. It is just a small part of our long-range vision for our campus, but it means so much that you are supportive. Thank you also to our many community members who support our Financial Assistance program. We are so proud of our ability to ensure mission-fit students are able to join our community, no matter their family’s financial position. Thank you to the entire St. Clement’s community, whose incredible generosity throughout the year allows SCS to stretch and grow alongside our girls.

Martha Perry ’85 Principal

Our Place

St. Clement’s School community, This past year saw a great deal of activity and energy at SCS, and your commitment to the School and its values was at the forefront. Your tangible support was demonstrated in many ways, through your donations, volunteer time, and robust engagement in all aspects of the school. We know from surveying the community that the concept of “place” is important to our community. This not only relates to physical improvements to the School itself, but also to the activities that take place inside and around the building. It also embodies our ability, by way of Financial Assistance, to provide access to that place to students who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford an SCS education. The importance of place is central to our ongoing work on the next Strategic Plan and the Campus Master Plan. This underlies our vision of what will best serve our students and our community in the future. Your continued engagement and support will be critical to our collective success in realizing this vision. On behalf of the Board, thank you for your remarkable support of our commitment to excellence at SCS. We look forward to continuing to work together to refine and grow the unique and outstanding place that is St. Clement’s.

Brian Denega Chair, Board of Governors 2

St. Clement’s School

We are shaping their excellence Our Excellence As a proud St. Clement’s School parent for the last seven years, I have watched my daughter Maryn grow and flourish. It’s remarkable to me to be able to witness the new ways in which she is learning, and the skills she is developing. The programming that SCS is able to provide all of our girls is supported in no small part by your commitment to the Annual Fund. The Annual Fund shapes the experience of Grades 1-12 by allowing for academic enhancements, facility and technology upgrades, and, through our Financial Assistance program, by providing deserving students with the opportunity to receive an SCS education. In 2018-2019, the Annual Fund’s new furnishings giving option allowed the School to reconfigure a room in each of the Junior, Middle, and Senior Schools with new furniture and equipment; while gifts directed to Financial Aid allowed 31 eligible students to be offered scholarships based on their financial need. Thank you for your generosity.

Catherine Rice Chair of the Annual Fund Parent of Maryn ’23

Our Integrity I am constantly inspired by the incredible things that happen here at St. Clement’s. It’s a gift to see firsthand how SCS is growing and evolving for the future, and the impact that has on our girls and their growth. Our Mission Statement highlights courage, curiosity, and compassion, and I am blessed to see these on display every day. I think that generosity requires a little of each of these characteristics. One must be curious enough to consider what needs funding, compassionate enough to want to make a difference for our community and our students, and courageous enough to give of one’s time, wisdom, and/or financial resources. Each generous donation makes a difference to what we are able to accomplish here, as we work to develop outstanding young women ready to make an impact on a changing world. I can’t thank you enough for supporting our mission and for your commitment to our girls and their learning.

We are thankful for volunteers

St. Clement’s School may be small in size, but there is always so much going on in our halls and outside our walls. That simply wouldn’t be possible without the generous support and dedication of our many volunteers. To those parents, alumnae, staff, and friends of SCS who always step up to lend their time and expertise, thank you. You help to make SCS the vibrant place it is. Our girls and staff can’t thank you enough.

How donations have an impact on our girls

To accomplish all that happens in an academic year at St. Clement’s requires significant resources. With support from the entire community, we are able to ensure SCS continues to offer an outstanding education for our students.

Gifts to the Annual Fund ensure that students across all grades experience augmented curricular and co-curricular programming, beyond what is covered by tuition. These take the form of everything from new furniture in the Grade 1 and Grade 8 classrooms and a new senior flexible science lab, to technological upgrades and other room enhancements, to guest experts in the classroom. Gifts also help to ensure the best and brightest girls are able to receive a St. Clement’s education, adding immeasurably to our overall community.

“ This is our family’s twelfth year as part of the St. Clement’s community. Over those years, SCS – the staff, students, and parents – have given so much to our daughter and it is a pleasure to give back to the community. It has been an honour to serve the Parents’ Association over the past year, working to strengthen the ties of the SCS parent community and deepen the engagement between the parents and the School.” — John Sayers President, 2018-2019 Parents’ Association Parent of Elizabeth ’20

Beyond supporting our daughter to excel in a rigorous academic program, the School fosters resilience, diversity of thought, and creativity. It’s important to us to support SCS - in the work that is happening daily, and with a strategic eye to the School’s future.” — Lisa Porlier Parent of Ellie ‘21 and member of the SCS Board of Governors

“ I feel incredibly fortunate to have been able to attend SCS and felt like my education helped as a fundamental element to become the person that I am today. My time at SCS has also helped me to stay in touch with and meet truly inspiring alumnae. SCS grads are changing the world in so many ways. I have chosen to give back in both my time as a Board member and with financial support, to enable other girls to benefit from leading-edge education to help them to make their mark on the world. —Hilary McLean ’95
