Flow + Restore Yoga

You’ll enjoy a flow class with a moderate pace and intensity with a focus on connecting breath with movement. The teachers prepare a sequence of postures that include a mix of stability, balance and mobility, linked with functional transitions and breath. There will be at least 10 minutes dedicated to meditation time (not including savasana), using various meditation techniques such as guided, visualization, or silent seated meditation with a slow, flowing sequence in the ambience of candlelight. Pickleball Lessons: Beginner One, Beginner

Two, and Intermediate

Come experience the fastest growing sport in the country! Beginner One sessions will teach players the rules, proper form and basic strategies of the game. Beginner Two sessions will help participants strengthen core skills, improve game knowledge and shot selection. Intermediate sessions will focus on strategy and shot selection while improving consistency of skills. Please bring paddle or one will be provided. Beginner One players (1.0-2.0) are new to pickleball and have a minimal understanding of the game and no prior experience. Beginner Two players (2.0-2.9) have a basic understanding of the rules and can maintain a short rally. Intermediate players (3.0-3.5) can maintain rallies and volley effectively with both forehand and backhand and serving and return consistently with direction and depth.

About the Instructor: Nicole Idalski grew up playing tennis at the high school, collegiate and USTA levels. Since converting to pickleball, she has won in women’s and mixed doubles at the 4.0, 4.5 and Senior Pro levels and teaches pickleball lessons to all ages and skill levels.

Rock Steady Boxing for Seniors

This boxing-for-fitness program is for seniors over 55 as well as individuals with Parkinson’s Disease. You’ll participate in non-contact boxing drills that help build motor skills, balance and coordination through a variety of different exercises including punching a heavy bag, hitting the focus mitts and some glove-toglove contact. A variety of movements, stepping, bobbing and weaving help you build focus, be attentive and get in shape. Class instructors are certified through Rock Steady Boxing of Indianapolis and the Struthers Parkinson’s Center of Park Nicollet. Boxing gloves will be provided along with walkers, canes and wheelchairs to assist those that need support when standing. Wear light shoes for standing on foam wrestling mats.

Learn the principles of body movement to improve your health, balance, and stamina through the Yang Cheng Fu system of T’ai Chi. Seed art is a long-time tradition at the Minnesota State Fair. Using assorted crop seeds, artists glue them to boards and other surfaces to make beautiful and creative works of art. This class will provide an introduction to crop art including a brief history, styles, specific techniques for making a seed art design, and how to enter your work in the State Fair. Participants will have an opportunity to make a work of their own to bring home. Tuition includes supplies. Melanie Pattay. Beginners will start with the basics of throwing cups, bowls, and plates. More experienced potters can expand on their skills with larger pieces, adding handles, lids, and manipulating pieces after throwing. Three sessions will focus on wheel throwing, while the final session is reserved for painting your pieces in a watercolor style. Items will be fired after the final class and available for pickup at the Community Ed office. Participants will take home up to five finished pieces of pottery. The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy: An In Depth Analysis

With this year marking the 60th anniversary of the tragic assassination of President John F. Kennedy, this class examines the discrepancies between the Warren Commission (that investigated the assassination for ten months and published their findings in September 1964) along with the conclusions reached by the United States House of Representatives that investigated the assassination for thirty-one months and published their report in March 1979. You’ll develop broader perspective regarding many of the controversies surrounding the assassination of President Kennedy with time for discussion and questions at the end of each class. Enter door 19 at Apollo across from the tennis courts. About the instructor: David Yorks is a retired Minnesota small business owner with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in American History. He has a fifty-fiveyear interest in the Kennedy presidency and has attended national conferences regarding the assassination. He has met with witnesses of the assassination and doctors who attended the President on 11/22/63.

At Central Minnesota Adult Education (ABE) we help adults to become fully participating, self-sufficient members of our society. Central MN ABE is a regional partnership between 31 school districts, including St. Cloud Area School District 742. Adult learners in these communities are served at numerous learning sites during daytime and evening class hours throughout the year. Registration for classes is open upon receipt of the catalog. Online registration announcements will be made available at www.isd742.org/CommunityEd.

CLASS CONFIRMATION

Unless we contact you, assume the course is held at the time and place indicated and that you are registered.

CANCELLATIONS

• Complete refund is given if a class is canceled or filled.

• A $5 cancellation fee plus direct expenses (materials, transportation, ticket and/or other class costs) will be charged if participants cancel a class within five working days and up to 24 hours prior to class.

• Classes canceled less than 24 hours in advance will not be refunded.

• A $5/15 minute late pick-up fee is due upon pick-up.

• For Project Challenge ticketed events such as plays and sporting events/ games, refunds will not be issued if a class participant requests a cancellation once the registration deadline has passed (if one is indicated in the class description).

SATISFACTION GUARANTEED

If participants are not 100% satisfied with a class, they can contact the Community Education Main Office at 320-370-8200 and we will gladly address your concerns.

SCHOOL CLOSINGS

If school closes during the day due to bad weather, Community Education will cancel all activities. Announcements are made on the District 742 website and local radio stations.
