EMILY - SPORT
Wui Jin (Head Girl – Year 13) was shortlisted for Economist of the Year by the Royal Economics Society and given Highly Commended for her entry for the Royal Economics Society essay competition 2017.
Emily (Year 4) was placed second in a regional gymnastics completion.
MARLEY - SPORT
FRANKIE - SPORT
Marley (Year 8) won gold in the Southern Area Open Taekwondo Championships.
Frankie (Year 8) competed at the Gymnastics Quatro Cup where she and her team won Gold, with Frankie being placed eighth in the individual event.

LYG HOCKEY - SPORT
Mia (Year 11) was selected to represent England at an international water polo competition in Malta.
Edward (Year 3) won the teamwork award as SDC finished second at the LYG Hockey Tournament.
KENT CRICKET - SPORT
BADMINTON SSG - SPORT
St Dunstan’s College joined forces with other performance partner schools to help nurture the best of Kent’s cricketing talent.
Daniel, Patrick, Tom and Alex (Year 11) won the Lewisham Badminton Championships to secure their place in the regional rounds of the Sainsbury’s School Games Badminton.

YOUNG ENTERPRISE
Izzy (Year 13) has been offered two choral scholarships at Cambridge.
The Young Enterprise team, BeauTea, have set up their business with their first major trading event being the Family Society Christmas Market. They have designed a logo, website and product (tea bag bath bombs) ready for sale at trade fairs across London in the New Year.

Year 12 & 13 Courtauld Gallery Year 12 and 13 artists were mesmerised by painter Soutine’s work at the Courtauld Gallery.
Sixth Form Royal Academy The sixth form thoroughly enjoyed the Royal Academy’s outstanding new exhibition dedicated to the artist, Jasper Johns.
Art and Design trip to Amsterdam Year 10 – 13 artists enjoyed their two day trip to Amsterdam spent visiting the White Cube gallery and the Royal Academy, alongside exciting evening workshops.
African Spectacular
Brass Masterclass with Steve Pretty
SDC voices, Chapel Choir, Senior Orchestra and Training Orchestra treated us to a fantastic concert on the theme of African music and culture, raising over £2,000 for the charity Brass for Africa.
The College’s Brass players were entertained and inspired by Steve Pretty, one of the UK’s finest jazz trumpet players and leader of the Hackney Colliery Band, who instructed soloists and the Brass Ensemble in an entertaining Masterclass.

Carols by Candlelight Service
Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols
The Chapel Choir represented the College at All Hallows by the Tower looking splendid in their new choir robes and singing with great expression and warmth.
Nine Lessons and Carols saw the 100 strong SDC voices, Chapel choir, the whole of Year 7 and Prep Choir singing beautifully in St Augustine’s Church for the start of the Christmas festivities.

Army Advanced Training Weekend
Remembrance Parade
Year 9 Royal Navy
Year 9 Army cadets enjoyed their first taste of life in the field during their exercise at Mereworth Woods Training Area.
The senior cadets of the Army section were pushed to their limits at the Advanced Training weekend.
The RSM and Coxswain led their sections during this year’s Remembrance Parade at Lewisham. We were, once again, the largest unit on parade.
The Year 9 Royal Navy cadets completed their DSD Scuba Diving course and are now ready for the challenge of diving at Holbrough Lakes in Maidstone.
Pupils in Years 4 & 6 wowed their audience with confident and polished performances.

Pre – Prep Nativity
17 students from Year 13 successfully passed their Expedition element for the Gold Award.
The Pre-Prep production provided a hilarious mix of singing, dancing, jokes and festive fun, whilst staying true to the nativity story.

Catford Bridge Book Exchange Corner
Year 9 Christmas Party
IT for the Elderly
The book exchange corner for Catford Bridge Station was launched on Friday 1 December - a group of students are looking after the bookcase every day after school.
Year 9 hosted a Christmas tea party for a local retirement home with plenty of Christmas snacks, games and even some impromptu carol singing.
Zain and Jalees (Year 10) have helped a group of adults with a range of computing tasks and have worked on creating a website for Seniors Lewisham Community Centre.

Volunteer for Vintage Gracie and Sadie (Year 12) have volunteered at John Tolley’s Antiques shop in Catford.
The Social Clubs Our students have organised games and storytelling activities for the residents at Fieldside Care Home and the Vineries, once weekly.

ESAA Cross Country Championships The Junior and Intermediate boys both qualified for the regional round of the ESAA Cross Country Championships.
Year 4 Cycle Confident
England Rugby Coaching Development Day
The Level 1 Cycle Confident training covered basic skills such as starting, stopping, manoeuvring and looking round safely.
England U18 Coach Russell Earnshaw put the SDC Senior Squad through their paces at the South Eastern RFU Coach Development Day.
Lewisham Cross Country Championships
40 Club Dinner
SDC students led by Josh and Lottie (Year 10) put in a series of fine performances to win the team prize at the Lewisham Cross Country Championships.
Mr Linfield and Mr Gower attended the annual 40 club dinner at the KIA Oval as winners of the Kent and West Sussex Cricket award, for the 1st XI performance.
U15 Netball The girls won the Lewisham Championships in the last game of the season.
U11 Rugby The U11’s finished with victories over Whitgift and Trinity, the culmination of a three year unbeaten run.
TRIPS
Year 12 Brussels Trip Year 12 spent two days in Brussels during the first week of term, discovering the sights of the city and taking part in team activities.
Year 13 Bank of England Museum Year 13 Economists enjoyed their exciting and engaging trip to the Bank of England museum, where they got to explore more about the role of the central bank and Monetary Policy in achieving macroeconomic objectives.

Year 12 Imperial College Year 12 product designers enjoyed design lectures at Imperial College.
Year 7 Bushcraft The annual year 7 Bushcraft trip to Oxfordshire saw 97 students and 6 staff members take to the fields of Oxfordshire.
Year 6 Imperial War Year 6 had an amazing time at the Imperial War Museum, learning about life during WWII.
Year 7 London Zoo Year 7 studied climate change at London Zoo.
Year 13 Biology Field Trip Year 13 Biologists enjoyed their Ecology Field Trip to Flatford Mill.
Tanzania 2017
Year 3 and 4 Creekside
Kidzania
Sixth Form students spent a week and a half in Tanzania with LLT. A large part of the project was about the cultural exchange and interaction with the pupils and teachers of Gendi Primary School.
Pupils stepped back into the Stone Age during their trip to Creekside, creating shelters, painting cave walls and cooking food over fire.
The JS trip to KidZania combined learning and reality with entertainment with children independently exploring over 60 real-life activities, testing their skills in a variety of professions.

EVENTS World Aid’s Day The sixth form were educated on the importance of World AIDS Day by Mrs Webb.
JS Sustainability Mission Statement The Head Girl and Head Boy were busy working on the Junior School Sustainability Mission Statement.
An excellent Shakespeare production was performed by Years 9 and 10 at the Shakespeare Schools Festival.
MacMillan Cancer Support We are delighted to have risen over £900 for Macmillan Cancer Support. The tea party was a great success and was supported by every part of the College community.
Opening Minds Lectures: Captain Haynes
Power of One Anti Bullying
The Opening Minds lecture series welcomed Captain Haynes to the College to talk about his extensive experience in the aviation industry, and possible careers in the field.
The Power of One production provided pupils with insight on what bullying is, what can be done about it, and how every child has the power to report and deal with bullying when they see it.
School Council Christmas Hamper
Harvest Festival
Our School Council representatives packed Christmas hampers with Voluntary Services Lewisham to help those in need over the Christmas period.

Harvest Festival – Pupils enjoyed their annual harvest celebration at St Laurence’s Church where we took the opportunity to give thanks for all we have.
