Building the Future for a St Dunstan’s Community
Inspiring, innovative facilities our whole community will enjoy
St Dunstan’s Facilities Development Plan
Ambitious facilities for an ambitious community We believe that a truly outstanding education must be grounded in a belief that communities matter. Ambitious communities deserve world-class buildings and facilities, and consequently we are embarking on the most significant redevelopment of the St Dunstan’s sites since our foundation in Catford, in 1888. The plan can be divided into three main areas:
1
2
3
A new Junior School, STEM Centre and Sixth Form Hub
The enhancement of sport, leisure and social facilities at both the College Campus and Jubilee Grounds
The refurbishment of our great historical buildings

A new Junior School, STEM Centre and Sixth Form Hub Junior School The Junior School is currently divided between two sites and many of our pupils are housed in prefabricated, mobile classrooms never intended as long-term teaching facilities. Our new, creative design will provide state-of-the-art, stimulating learning environments, as well as dedicated specialist spaces for art, music and performances. In addition, elevated play areas are featured on all three floors which will reduce children’s exposure to harmful pollutants from nearby vehicles. Redesigned Junior School playing fields and two Multi-Use Games Areas (MUGAs) will ensure pupils have unrestricted access to age-appropriate, exceptional sporting facilities.

STEM Centre With a focus on collaboration at its heart, our Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Centre will provide a central building for these specialist subjects which are currently dispersed across the College sites. This Centre will include a range of cutting-edge facilities, building on our historical roots in inspiring technical creativity and innovation.
Sixth Form Hub Positioned within the heart and central atrium of the STEM Centre, we will create a dedicated Sixth Form Hub. The design of this area will be modelled on university-style learning, including large, independent study spaces, social areas, a cafĂŠ, and a purpose-built lecture theatre and performance space, with seating for over 220 people.

New facilities available to the local community We are passionate about our broad-reaching community: the residents of Catford and Lewisham, our pupils and their families, the organisations with whom we share spaces and ideas, and our international links and connections across London. Our facilities are already open to the public and utilised by thousands of different members from across our community. Our ambition is to build even more relationships, working together on projects that enhance life experiences for both local residents and our international friends. If you would be interested in learning more about our ambitious plans, or would consider supporting them in any way, please get in touch with our development team on development@sdmail.org.uk. We are always excited to bring people to St Dunstan’s College and to share our ambitions with you in person.
