Why We Love Them

&Beyond has partnered with Africa Foundation and Oceans Without Borders to protect and support improved marine footprint and management practices. They have focussed on the ‘care-trilogy’ that incorporates the ocean, marine wildlife and coastal communities. &Beyond Mnemba Island provides a platform for baseline research and it seeks to establish or grow marine protected areas, this includes the wildlife. They intentionally introduced the endangered suni antelope to the island and have successfully increased the population by providing a safe environment for breeding, free of predators. To date 250 suni have been relocated back into their original natural habitats. By positive activities such as these, Mnemba Island strives to achieve not just a local, but a global impact.
