Director of Teaching and Learning

The Principal, Mr Mark Bonnici, invites suitably qualified leaders to submit their application for the position of Director of Teaching and Learning. This is a Senior Leadership position in the College and is commensurate with the equivalent of a 3-point allocation in time and salary. The Director component of the role spans three years initially, with the option for a further three-year extension, subject to a professional review in the third year. The successful applicant will also maintain an appropriate teaching load.
The role of the Director of Teaching and Learning is to promote the College and Edmund Rice ethos by promoting current educational practices. This position maintains the responsibility for leading the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of the College’s learning agenda in alignment with the St Edward’s College Aspiration Statement.
The Director of Teaching and Learning is also an outstanding teacher in his/her subject areas in terms of knowledge of content, current contemporary educational research in teaching methodology, classroom management, methods of evaluation and professional development.

Essential Criteria
The position requires a person who:
• Has an affinity with and appreciation for the charism of Blessed Edmund Rice and the EREA Charter Touchstones.
• Maintains the appropriate qualifications, experience and attributes to fulfill this Senior Leadership role.
• Will contribute significantly to the design, implementation, leadership and monitoring of the College Strategic Improvement Plan. They will also be central to the design, implementation and leadership of the College Annual Strategic Goals.
• Has the capacity to provide effective advice to the College Principal and contribute positively to the College Senior Leadership Team.
• Can demonstrate an excellent understanding of contemporary educational research on pedagogical approaches to enhance student learning.
• Can collaboratively lead the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of the College’s Literacy and Numeracy plan.
• Can demonstrate successful leadership of professional learning for staff using a range of data (including PAT and CogAT Testing, NAPLAN, ROSA, HSC and student assessment data) to monitor and assess student learning growth, and to inform curriculum and teaching and learning.
• Can demonstrate an understanding of contemporary approaches to catering for the diverse learning needs of students including the extension of high potential learners.
• Provide leadership and support to staff in the effective use of digital technologies to enhance student learning.
• Can demonstrate an ability to relate positively with students, staff and parents and a willingness to work in a collaborative team.
Flexible Commencement Arrangement
Ideally the successful applicant will commence this permanent full-time position in 2024. There is the possibility of flexibility to suit the successful candidate for this position to commence in January 2025.
