Milt Gudgell, boat captain and a corporate officer of Pacific Salmon Charters in Ilwaco, will be the guest speaker at the April 25, 2012, 7:00 pm meeting of the Olympia Chapter of Trout Unlimited. The public is invited to hear Milt Gudgell presentation on up-to-date fishing techniques, locations, and appropriate gear to use when fishing for Sturgeon. The Columbia River White Sturgeon is the largest freshwater fish in North America and often described as a living dinosaur. Additional discussion will identify fishing requirements based on recent legislation. He will discuss the complexity of developing and following management plans of Washington, Oregon, and the federal government for our Lower Columbia River sturgeon fishery amid concerns of a diminishing resource, You can expect an opportunity to ask questions and find out why things are the way they are. Bio – Milt Gudgell Boat Captain and Corporate officer of Pacific Salmon Charters Milt Gudgell is a licensed boat captain and corporation officer with Pacific Salmon Charters who has provided acclaimed fishing charter services for sturgeon, salmon, halibut, tuna and a variety of rockfish since 1985. Counting his early personal efforts with rods and reel, Milt has logged over forty years of fishing and charter service experience. Now managing eight boats, ranging from 36 to 55 feet in length, his concern for customer service is a key value to the corporation. Milt stays informed on all types of fishing techniques and is involved in the processes for managing our cold water fisheries resources on the Lower Columbia and the Pacific Ocean. He has been participating in many of the federal and state programs concerning the development of seasons, size of fish to keep, and other important conditions in managing fisheries resources.
