CHOOSING A KITCHEN CONSULTANT/CONTRACTOR There are consultants who are only consultants and those who are also contractors. The design can be equally good from either one and the equipment specified by the independent consultant is not necessarily better. In fact if the consultant/contractor is the agent/distributor for several good manufacturers and wins the contract you can usually be assured of an adequate after sales service and supply of spare parts. Furthermore as all equipment specified is also subject to the offer of “or equal” alternatives, other bidders have an equal chance of securing the contract. The consultant/contractor, (if he secures the contract) should be as conscientious as the independent consultant he is unable to walk away from the job once installation is completed and must face the wrath of the chef and the other food and beverage Managers if design is poor or equipment inadequate. While every consultant must keep uptodate with the latest developments and equipment available, it is not necessary that the latest equipment or innovations to equipment should be specified. In many areas robust simple equipment is preferable to the latest expensive, computer controlled marvel of technology shown with great fanfare at recent international food equipment show. With the kitchen consultant/contractor acting as designer, mediator, technical advisor and cost controller and often being stronger in some of these fields and weaker in others the actual arrangements/workflow, total installation cost and durability of past kitchen installations serve as the best guidelines in selecting your consultant/contractor. After all, as in most things, the proof is in the pudding.

PROJECT WORKS Project Management Established more than 40 years, specializing in the commercial kitchen/foodservice equipment industry, Somerville project team has evolved to form an essential core of the company strength, enabling us to establish ourselves as an experienced player capable of undertaking especially large scale and complex projects. Our Project Director has a foundation of over 30 years of experience and a dedicated team of project engineers and skilled installers. They are complemented with solid administrative support from our creative kitchen designer, as well as our resourceful purchasing and shipping team, working tirelessly to ensure timely arrival on the equipment requirements and meeting project timeline. Whichever the assignment, the assigned project engineer is always made available to the architects, kitchen designer, and owner representative, attending all necessary site meetings to offer advice, guidance, answer questions and deal with any possible pitfalls before they occur.
To summarize, this is what we offer for every project undertaken: Assignment of project engineer, oversee all aspect of preparation work, ordering, delivery, installation of equipment and site progress for the duration of the project.
