In case you haven’t noticed… e-mails from the School to the community are sporting a new identity! In the “From” line of School-related e-mail blasts, individual staff members’ names have been replaced by the corresponding department e-mail address, all of which begin with ‘RSS_’ followed by the department name. The primary reason for this change is so that you can quickly identify on your computer or handheld the department within the School from which the communication has been sent. Please note this will be phased in by department. Here’s an example. In the past, the Bulletin was e-mail blasted to parents, faculty and staff from the desk of Shannon Williams. Henceforth, it will be sent from the following e-mail address: RSS_Publications_Special Events. As a parent, you will immediately know that you are receiving either a School publication or information on an upcoming special event. (A “special event” in this case refers to the Fall Fair, Spring Benefit, or another Development-related activity.) Faculty and staff will use their own e-mail address for communicating with individual parents or colleagues, but will always use the RSS_[department] e-mail address to communicate “official” School business to groups of parents, alumni and colleagues. Following is a list of the new e-mail addresses you may encounter at one time or another. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Joshua Eisen at jeisen@steiner.edu, or Alexis Rodriguez at arodriquez@steiner.edu. We hope you will find this small but significant change to our email communications helpful. Please take the time to read these emails as you receive them.

RSS & MAGIC HOUR COMMUNICATIONS This coming Thursday and Friday, RSS and Magic Hour Communications begin the journey on the road to the redesign of a new School website. Parents, students, alumni, faculty and staff have all been invited to participate in the discovery phase of this project by attending one of the sessions being held especially for their constituent group during these two days. The discovery phase will help Magic Hour Communications get to know who we are as a school community and help us clarify and define our needs. In addition to the website, Magic Hour will help bring a fresh RSS “identity” and “look” to our various school publications and materials. This initiative is being undertaken to improve communications between the School and all its constituencies as well as to better promote and market the school to prospective families and the wider independent school community. Questions about this project should be directed to Roe Golden at rgolden@steiner.edu. At present, we are anticipating a timeframe of six months for the completion of this project.
