Rigour, Relevance and Responsibility We take your goals, aspirations, and career development personally
I am glad to welcome you to our new International Full-Time MBA programme, a collaborative effort between TiasNimbas and the School of Economics and Management of Tilburg University. TiasNimbas is a top institution for executive education. We have been offering MBAs and executive programmes for 25 years and have been consistently well ranked by the Financial Times. The School of Economics and Management is world renowned for its research in economics and business which ranks number three in Europe, according to the UT Dallas Business School Research Ranking. This strong combination of academic rigour and practical relevance allows us to deliver a new MBA programme of truly exceptional quality. What makes our MBA unique is also the personal attention. We focus on your goals, aspirations and career. The TiasNimbas MBA has always been a transformational experience. We help you develop your business acumen, your leadership skills, your self-awareness, your network, and your professional future. The curriculum is designed not just to provide you with a thorough understanding of business functions and strategy, but also to incorporate ethics and responsibility into your mindset, and to develop you as a ‘complete’ leader.
Tilburg University is an exciting place and you will enjoy a unique experience here. Our highly international MBA class has a limited number of excellent participants to maximise interaction. We also carefully select the MBA faculty. Our faculty members are at the forefront of their respective disciplines: they teach the latest, state-of-the-art knowledge and practices; research and publish original ideas; work with companies to solve ‘real’ business issues; and are able to orchestrate meaningful in-class discussions around concrete cases. At a personal level, they are passionate about their work, and willing to help you throughout the programme. You will be exposed not only to top faculty, but also to company executives, speakers from NGOs, top researchers, and other stakeholders concerned with social entrepreneurship and sustainable development. As a future responsible leader, you will need to understand how different external stakeholders have an influence on your organisation, and how the organisation impacts upon these stakeholders. We are proud of this new MBA programme, which combines the strengths of TiasNimbas and those of the School of Economics and Management within the broader framework of Tilburg University. The essence of the programme: Rigour, Relevance, and Responsibility. These words summarise what we stand for.
I would be most pleased to welcome you in person to Tilburg University, and to this innovative programme.

Do you understand how your decisions impact all stakeholders?
Never stop asking How do you inspire others? Can you make your team a winning team?
Are you prepared to work in an international environment? 6
Develop Yourself as a Global Leader The world continues to experience unprecedented economic and societal turmoil. You are entering a totally new, highly international and complex business world. As a global leader of tomorrow, you need to understand the business risks and opportunities of social, political, cultural and environmental trends. You also have to learn to manage production capacity in a world in which traditional resources are dwindling. The challenges that these issues present are complex and there may be little agreement about the response that is required. You lead in the face of complexity and ambiguity. You understand the interdependency of actions and the global implications that local decisions can have. You also have to understand the ethical basis on which business decisions are being made. In essence: you are a responsible leader. Socially responsible people and organisations behave ethically and with sensitivity towards the full range of stakeholders, including the environment. Striving for social responsibility helps individuals, organisations and governments to have a positive impact on development, business and society, while maintaining a positive contribution to bottom-line results.
As a responsible leader, you are able to identify the key stakeholders who have an influence on your organisation, and how the organisation impacts on these stakeholders, both positively and negatively. You have to engage in effective dialogue and have the ability to build partnerships with these stakeholders. The TiasNimbas International Full-Time MBA is intellectually rigourous and offers individualised career development. You not only come to grips with the latest theories and innovative practices, but also develop your personal leadership potential. You learn to be flexible and responsive, to find creative ways of solving problems, to balance short- and longer-term considerations, to communicate and engage in effective dialogue, to negotiate and develop partnerships. Your leadership skills will develop through project-based learning and other forms of experiential learning enhanced by structured reflection and coaching. You also explore societal aspects that go beyond the traditional management strands. All in all, our MBA programme will help you develop the skills required by the global leader of tomorrow.

The New Leadership MBA Joost Gietelink, CFO Randstad Group
At TiasNimbas we understand that your management education requires more than a cutting-edge academic programme and knowledge-building. Besides a faculty whose expertise and experience allows for combining academic rigour with practical relevance, TiasNimbas further enhances your personal growth and professional development by adding some ‘confrontational’ building blocks. The heritage of the TiasNimbas MBA is our very strong curricular focus on both Academic and Personal elements. Today, due to the unpredictable changes in the world that are occurring on a large scale – issues such as fraud, war, recession and natural disasters – we have added an essential third layer – the Societal element. This is a fully integrated element that, in combination with the Academic and Personal layers, will prepare new leaders for the complexity that awaits them.
TiasNimbas takes a holistic, integrative approach to your development as a self-aware, socially responsible, highly employable business leader. 8

‘The TiasNimbas MBA provides you with something exceptional: a ‘helicopter view’ of the complex and shifting terrain of international business and the skills and experience to confidently lead in this new territory. Also the skills can offer organisations untold possibilities for growth. ‘Responsible leadership’ is crucial now; you want to become a smart, stakeholder-focused, all-around leader who understands the issues and who integrates societal concerns into your decision-making processes. This is your primary strategy for building not only sustainable business, but a sustainable career.’
‘An MBA is no longer just about the functional areas of management, and not even about how your personal leadership skills can make you a more effective manager. Today an MBA programme has to teach you to think in a whole, integrated manner – and to know when to ‘follow your gut’ when presented with an innovative new business model or product that will take your organisation into uncharted territory. That’s the added value of the TiasNimbas MBA: We help you make the connection between, innovation, IT and international business processes. This helps you develop sustainable new business models and uncover new ways to build profit.’
