The disused waterway of Ilisos river gave us the opportunity and the necessary space to create a tool that would act as a unifier of the two divided neighbourhoods, Kallithea and Moschato. Our concept was to design urban features that would act as notional urban threads that would tie the opposite banks together. These threads represent new public spaces that have different functions and materials. They contribute into strengthening social cohesion and into improving the quality of daily life. The linear park that results from the sum of these threads, acts on both local and metropolitan level. By providing new conceptions and urban experiences , they help promote and transform the riverbanks of Ilisos from a wasteland into an exciting part of the city.
