DRIVING & TRAVELING TIPS

THE FOLLOWING DRIVING TIPS ARE INTENDED TO HELP YOU AND YOU’RE FAMILY HAVE A RELAXED AND ENJOYABLE VACATION. PLEASE TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS WHEN DRIVING AS YOU ARE IN A HEAVILY POPULATED TOURIST AREA. 1. Florida law requires safety belts for all front passengers, regardless of age. Children age 4 MUST!! Be in a child's safety seat. Children age 4 to 5 must be in safety seat or wear a seat belt in the rear seat of the vehicle at all times. 2. Florida law requires that you turn on your headlights at dusk, in fog, smoke or in rain. Be extra cautious when driving during or after rainfall. Slippery road conditions could cause you to lose control of your vehicle. 3. NO DRINKING AND DRIVING!! Always have a designated driver who will remain alcohol free. Under Florida DUI (Driving Under the Influence) law. If you are caught driving with a BAL (Blood Alcohol Level) of 0 .10 or higher, or refuse to submit to a roadside test, you may be arrested and your driver's license suspended indefinitely. 4. On approaching a "STOP SIGN", Florida Law requires that your vehicle come to a complete stop before proceeding. At a "'4-WAY STOP SIGN", the vehicle that arrives at the cross-section first has the right of way. 5. You may turn RIGHT at a RED LIGHT after you have come to a complete stop. Always make sure the coast is clear and there are no signs posted stating "NO RIGHT TURN ON RED" before continuing with the turn . 6. NEVER!! Overtake a stationary school bus with flashing red lights. On two-lane highway cars traveling toward the bus MUST also stop. (This is not necessary on a dual carriageway). 7. Use a Gps Navigation to plan you route before you venture out. If you miss a turn or exit, proceed to the next corner or exit. Never back up. Always pull completely off the road if you must stop . 8. When driving keep a full tank of gas and stay on a well-lighted street or area. 9. Park close to your destination, preferably on a well-lighted street or area. If there is a parking garage available I advise paying a little extra to keep your items safe and to also have an accurate location so that you can find your vehicle. 10. If you notice someone. Loitering about your vehicle, walk past it and find help. Look inside your car before opening it and take special note of the back seat floor & underneath before entering the vehicle. 11. Pay attention when walking through parking lots. Avoid suspicious characters or areas with no lights. Travel with a companion in the evening. In the unlikely event you are confronted by an assailant, do not resist if demands are made for valuables. Such actions create danger. 12. Be mindful of pedestrians, especially children. Orlando has many vacationers that take leisurely strolls. 13. PARENTS SHOULD ACCOMPANY SMALL CHILDREN AT ALL TIMES!! 14. ALWAYS LOCK YOUR VEHICLE. LOCK VALUABLES IN THE TRUNK, GLOVE BOX OR TRUNK COMPARTMENT SO THEY ARE OUT OF SIGHT! 15. KEEP YOUR HOUSE KEY IN A SAFE PLACE ON YOUR PERSON WHEN TRAVELING U
