THE GROVE PROJECT SUMMARY

The challenge of this project is to create an object from the environment into digital, and learn how to simplify an image into icons. When we visit our location, we pay attentionto the appearance of form, color, texture, movement, and materials. From this exercise, I have learned how to make an icon characterized, and use few icons and patterns to show the detail and characteristic of a restaurant.

PROJECT SCOPE & DELIVERABLES

The scope of this project is to convey the concept of the restaurant to let viewers to see the connection between the project and the restaurant. From this project, I want to achieve that the viewers can easily to see the characteristics of the restaurant through my project. The final of the project is a set of 5 icons, pixel icons, and 3 repeating patterns.

OVERVIEW I chose The Grove as my location was because I like its interior design and the atmosphere. The Grove is also close to my apartment and I go by it everyday. Due to its modern decoration and interior, I usually go there for brunch. Every time I go there I see families having meal, some people bringing their dogs there, and people going there for chill. I enjoy the harmony really much. The most attractive focal point in the restaurant is the stoves. There is one in the restaurant and another one is at the outside. For understanding more about The Grove, I talked to the manager in The Grove, David. He explained that the concept of the restaurant is based on early California life. However, the owner placed the 18th century French lamp, European carved stone and Spanish tiles to make the restaurant more interesting. The factor why the owner collects so many decorations in this restauant is because he wants the create a home for his customers. There are several dining spots and customers can choose the the most comfortable spot to relax.
