Kodzidan - House of Stories (2019) Academy van Bouwkunst
A Public Space For The Cultural Narratives Of Ningo Prampram To Unfold In A Growing City. This is research design project aimed at designing a pixel of within the emerging Ningo Prampram Planned City Expansion. The Kodzidan - House of Stories project is derived from research into the cultural expression and practices in the urban and built spaces of Ningo Prampram. Inspired by the Kodzidan Typology, the proposal advocates for a multifunctional space for performance, culture and story telling in the emerging city that draws from and facilitates that which exists on the ground.

Lagos Mangrove Tower (2019) Academy van Bouwkunst
Design Project based on the Hybrid Future 2019 (Work x Fly) Competition by Competitions UNI.XYZ. “I see architecture as the backdrop and at times the mirror to the social storyline of its time. The built form should be the stage on which narratives of social life dwell and perform” As airbuses and personal flight becomes popularised in Lagos, the Island restricts access to cars on the marina, except only those that service the market. The Light Rail opened in the year 2022 and the Streetlife is elevated across multiple levels; towers are stilted and accommodate the multi-level access. The desire to work in Lagos is strong - people flood to the city for opportunity to work. In 2100 majority of this population will be under 25 and they are mobile; needing a workspace that allows connects easily to the transport hub and accommodates flexible work. Simultaneously the market trader culture persists and they scale through several floors of the tower in resilience to the occurrence of flood and to be present at all points of public interaction to optimise their sales.

These buildings are the portals at which the artists meet and become framed within the dramatic landscape. The residence building (Wardian House) and the workshop (Viking’s Lodge) are subversions of the Seminary’s brutalist architecture in either form or materiality. The Exhibition

Hotel KIT (2019)
BRIGHT| The Cloud Collective Hotel KIT is a concept study for the renovation of the Hotel in the Oosterpark owned by the Koninklijk Instituut voor de Tropen. It is part of an overall Masterplan for the Institute lead by Urhahn and BRIGHT is part of the design team along with Bureau SLA. The aim of the proposal to make a case for an inclusive hotel strategy in which various users engage with the building at multiple levels. The design provides a number of communal or public rooms and spaces and also suggests the ability for flexible hotel rooms that may double as daytime offices Several iterations were also explored to test how the hotel might expand without undermining the structural integrity of the existing building and highlighting its most prominent architectural qualities.

The design proposal should increase biodiversity in Bedum and fit within the context of the neighbouring urban plan for the development “Centrumplan Bedum” and situated inside an existing pond. My role in this project is as a designer, furthering the initial design concept by specifying of materiality and detailing the structure and facade of the design proposal.

Vleermuishuis Eerbeek (2018 -2019) BRIGHT| The Cloud Collective
A proposal for Vleermuis Toren in the Neenah Coldenhove Factory in Eerbeek. Following an extensive research by BRIGHT into the “Eerbeek Engergielandschap” and history of the paper industries in Eerbeek, BRIGHT proposed a Vleermuis Toren (Bat Tower) for the Neenah Coldehove Factory in Eeerbeek. Due to restriction of the EU Natura 2000 and the presence of protected bat species on their property, the factory must provide new dwellings for bats should they wish to construct new buildings for their paper making production. My role in this project as lead designer was to make a case for an architectural solution that can showcase the factories 400 year history in Eerbeek and to be a cultural landmark for the Eerbeek community and visitors alike.
The bats at Coldenhove currently find habitat inside the workspaces of the factory

The circular hub In the north part of the project site, on the land owned by the municipality, a new circular hub will arise. The hub is a flexible set of buildings that offer plenty of floor space for material-based processes of collecting, sorting, disassembling, reassembling and expedition, as well as space for human-centered functions that thrive on the flows of material: arts and crafts, expression and retail, connected through a square. The buildings located north of the square house a ‘reuse center’ (a new form of the traditional recycling center), companies that repair, change, use and sell materials, repair shops, and an auction hall for the auctioning of large quantities of materials. The reuse center is a place where inhabitants of Enköping can for example leave their old furniture, old electronic goods, etc. by car, cargo bike, and bicycle. The aim for the new center is to create an environment that changes the perception that the left materials are not thrown away, but get a new life.

(2017)
Academy van Bouwkunst
This villa for Snowden masters the art of hiding in plain sight. Under the guise of the Zaandam Water Tank Snowden lives in this modernist inspired folly -

in an amongst a water machine. Water and aluminium foil hide and disrupt all connectivity therefore snowden can live protected from NSA investigations. But should his security ever be compromised Snowden can escape into his underground bunker where there is but a minimal threshold between his lair and the IJ

Watling Park School Planning Submission (2015) Scott Brownrigg
Watling Park School, a single form entry School in North London. For this project I worked on the planning documentation (the design access report) which involved creating diagrammatic drawings and researching design precedents. I also developed the design for the school facade - from concept sketches to 3D modelling and worked on both Sketchup and Revit models of the school and site design
