Friday, October 3rd was the biggest day of homecoming week for Centennial High School. On this day, the football game, parade, and homecoming dance were held. Eagle Bites also took place during the game! There, Centennial Key Club had their very own stand. Cups full of delicious and colorful fruit were sold. Throughout the day, Key Clubbers arranged and sold fruit cups while other members participated in the Homecoming parade. A huge banner representing Centennial Key Club was raised as everyone walked through the neighborhood. Overall, the day was a success and Centennial Key Club managed to raise over $100!
On October 10th through the 12th, a Science Conference was held at Centennial High School. Centennial Key Club collaborated with MECHA to pitch in some helping hands! Awesome team work was displayed from setting up stands to cleaning up after the conference. HUGE shout out to Amarti Gerba for volunteering both days! That’s 16 hours in total!
A huge event called MSGH (My School Goes Hard) took place at Anthem Church on Wednesday, October 15th. MSGH is where schools from different areas compete against each other to show off who has the most school spirit! With the help of Key Clubbers, things ran smoothly at the church. Some members helped served drinks at a soda bar while others helped clean up after the event. It was definitely a great opportunity for everyone to get their volunteer hours in while partying at the same time! To top the night off, Centennial High School became the official champions of 2014’s MSGH – second year champions!
On Sunday, October 26th, Division 62 and Division 66 gathered at Midland Library for October’s DCM. Everyone was required to wear their Halloween costume and bring one yard of fleece fabric. To start off the DCM, a small game mixed of telephone and charades was played. Later, Key Clubbers took their fleece fabric and made them into blankets. A total of 55 blankets were made! All the blankets were donated to kids within the area for an organization called the Children’s Miracle Network.
For the month of October, Nelson Nguyen was recognized as Key Club Member of the Month. This Key Clubber was recognized for his outstanding effort, full time commitment into volunteer opportunities, growing leadership skills, and amusing personality! He displayed these traits at every volunteer event and outside of Key Club. Congratulations to Nelson Nguyen for being the real MVP of the month of October!
