BRIDAL TREND REPORT 17 /18

The fact that wedding-dress trends change as frequently as season-to-season. French designer Christian Lacroix put it best: “A wedding dress, intended for an exceptional day, should in every case be exceptional. I like it to have several lives; classically grand for the religious ceremony, but lightened of its train or skirt for dancing. From the charming Arlésienne to the shepherdess in a fairy tale, with raffles, tulle, embroidery, lace, the repertoire is inexhaustible.”

Fashion is cyclical in nature. The concept of “newness” in fashion doesn’t refer to the premiere of a trend, but rather its revival. There are lots of factors that affect fashion: cultural trends, politics, celebrity influence. It happens in bridal industry as well. Trends for bridal are also influcence by fashion trends. What is happening in fashion industry, it will automatically transder into bridal industry.
COLOR TREND
VIBRANT GREENERY
Greenery will be reflected in weddings, but in subtle, and less literal and overtly obvious ways. There will be less focus of this specific hue of green, and more of the concept of using nontraditional greenery and foliage as a more prominent focal point in wedding decor. Combining greens with nude tones and clean lines result in refined yet indulgent look.

2016 was the year of the off-the-shoulder dress, both in bridal and ready-to-wear fashion. And guess what? This feminine style is not going anywhere in the next 12 months, according to Bonenberger. And while brides are leaning towards more traditional arm coverage, the trend is moving in the opposite direction when it comes to necklines—interest in plunging V-neck, high halter, or illusion necklines is on the rise.

This fall 2017 bridal dress trend went along beautifully with the long sleeve trend; so the ’20s were tied to the 19th century in that way. Collections like those from Costarellos used the high necks for romance to go well with the sleeves and the lace .

High necks are always at least partially reminiscent of the Victorian era, so it was a highly romantic and overall sweet trend. Needless to say, some designers counteracted the coverage to keep things less matronly by adding in plunging backs and different sleeve cuts.
There’s always a fantastical element that comes with bridal gowns, ruffles can play to that tremendously. Showing up as a fall 2017 bridal fashion trend, it’s easy to see why volume can go a long way in creating a dream dress. Weather the ruffles were heavy or light, tulle or satin, or anything else, they were elegant and lovely with that great bridal romanticism thrown in perfect balance.

With today’s technology, we love seeing where designers take classic trends. For instance, flowers have been on the bridal runway for as long as anyone can remember, so there’s nothing new about that – 3D printed flowers, however, definitely have their place on the fall 2017 bridal fashion trends list. Designers took the old and made it new, on a very large scale.
