Introduction All images in this digital book were made with the Hipstamatic App. I love this photo-altering app and I am particularly fond of the TinType pack. The resulting images have that eerie and timeless look and feel of daguerreotypes.
One could argue this is not real art. A photograph is taken and a computer, iPhone or iPad, takes care of the rest with a preset and its randomly generated settings.
A human's eye and a computer generated development work together. It is art or could a chimpanzee also make compelling images with this Hipstamatic app ? Is it about the capture or about the development?I think it is all about the capture, the feel, the experience thus it is must be art. In the old days one used Kodak Tri-X to get a grainy, gritty look or T-Max for sharpness and tonality. Film, black and white or color, was chosen for their characteristics.
It was a deliberate choice because every analogue film and even lens type gave different results for the same capture. And then there was film development. Every brand or type of black and white development solution also had its own properties.
We should embrace technology as it helps our creativity.
Choosing Hipstamatic for a certain capture is a deliberate choice. It is no more different than a painter choosing a brush or a sculptor a chisel in order to achieve a special touch. Bad work will always be bad work no matter how we try to embellish it.
Ifyou don't see or feel it, your high-end camera ofiPhone will not do it for you.

About I believe that travel broadens one's view of the world. Experiencing other cultures, meeting people from other communities and other countries and seeing the beauty, and sometimes ugliness, of the world has helped me understand that all of our lives are at once interconnected and individual. It has made me appreciate better my own home and culture as well as that of the
people I've met and the lands I've seen and I have become a much more tolerant
person as a result.
Through my photography I seek to document my own personal experiences, to
capture scenes and events as I see them and to share with others the beauty and
diversity of the world I've seen.
As the images of other photographers have inspired me to explore the world, I
hope my own contributions will inspire others to do the same.
