For those who are looking for an exciting day, this trip offers a good adventure on one of the most scenic rivers in northern Laos! Our tour starts from the Riverside Boutique Resort at 8:00. After a ride by private minivan or by private truck, we arrive in the little town of Hin Heup. The kayaking trip begins under an old iron bridge, just beside the new one where Road No. 13 crosses the Nam Lik River. After some basic paddle instruction and practice, our experienced river guides takes you through the first fun rapids (grade 1-2, suitable for beginners; they may reach grade 3, however, in the rainy season). A Lao-style picnic on banana leaves is served, and there is time to relax. For the more energetic, swimming in the river is possible. The afternoon is spent in calmer waters, where local fishermen are at work. More paddling takes us to a stunning steep gorge, which provides perfect platforms for cliff jumping into the cool, deep river. The day ends at Ban Vang Mon, a Tai Dam village, in the dry season (or Ban That, a Lao ‘Loum’ village, in the wet season). From here we will drive back to the Resort in Vang Vieng. We recommend that you bring sun cream, hats, and bathing suits.
