We remember, Bud! Bud Wentz, founder of the Simbrah breed, passed away from a short battle with cancer on August 17, 2012. He was 80-years-old. Bud and his wife, Lupita were members of Synergy and supporters of the entire breed. We dedicate this sale to Bud’s memory and hope every time you give or receive a smile, you’ll think of Bud and the smiles, laughter and fun he brought to our events and the breed. About Bud Regardless of your status--old or new breeder, or somewhere in between, the probability that you had heard of and even met Bud Wentz was very high. Wentz was often called the “Godfather of Simbrah” and his life long devotion to the breed was unquestionable. Wentz experimented with some Simmental semen on some of his Brahman cows in the late 60’s and this would lead to the formation of the Simbrah breed in 1977 through the American Simmental Association (ASA). Wentz in an interview with Simbrah World in 2010, said he liked the phenotype of those resulting calves, he loved the fertility, as the heifer calves were starting to cycle at 8-9 months of age and he liked the udder quality.

Bud Wentz, founder of the Simbrah breed, died on August 17, 2012.

He began calling the cattle Brahmental and he first went to the American Brahman Breeders Association (ABBA) to initiate a registry for the cattle. “ABBA was not interested, but I heard that the American Simmental Association (ASA), which was still very young at the time, was having a meeting in Denver, Colorado. Lou Chestnut was the president and Colville Jackson from Mississippi, Albert West and R.A. Brown from Texas were all on the ASA board. These last three gentlemen would ultimately become very involved in the Simbrah breed,” he explained in the interview. Wentz went to the meeting and told them about his Simmental x Brahman cattle. ASA voted to begin registering percentage and purebred Simbrahs in 1977 and according to the ASA website, 700 were registered in the first year. Another pivotal point in the history of the Simbrah breed was the meeting of Wentz and Edmond Tom, Campbellton, Texas. They formed a partnership the day they met and set about breeding Simbrah cattle with a passion for promoting the new breed. “I went to a sale over in the Houston area, as they had some Simmental X Brahman heifers for sale, along with other crosses. Well, I noticed that it was only me and one other guy bidding on these Simmental crosses. I went over and introduced myself to Edmond and we started taking turns buying the groups. We formed our partnership on our word and in all our years together never had a written contract. We didn’t need one,” he explained in the Simbrah World interview.

Bud was always in on the fun. This photo was taken in the late 70’s-early 80’s at a TSSA Convention Bicycle Roping contest, again to raise money for a cause. Bud was known almost as much for his generosity as he was founding the Simbrah breed.

Tom and Wentz Cattle Co., began providing bulls to neighbors with registered cows and then they would buy all the calves back at weaning for a $1.00 a pound. This allowed them to build their female numbers and build the registry, as they began having their sales, which as best anyone can remember were the first Simbrah sales. The cattle were easily marketed. “I called it the ‘Golden Age of Marketing’, as everyone was wanting Simbrah, because of the economic traits they were providing,” he recalled. Wentz remained active in the breed until the early 1990’s . He lost a lot of his lease land at this time and was forced to sell his herd. In 2006, he and his wife, Lupita decided to return to the cattle business and of course that meant Simbrah. Wentz became a familiar face to a new generation of Simbrah breeders. Wentz received the coveted ASA Golden Book Award in 1994, for his many years of dedication and service to the Simbrah breed and the ASA. He also served on the ABBA Board of Directors for many years. He was one of the original members of the Area V Brahman Association, which is now the RGV Simbrah & Bos Indicus Association. Wentz is known for not just starting the breed, but also his generosity, as he helped many youth over the years get started with a Simbrah show heifer. While Wentz may have just been looking for a better cow at the time, he made the cattle business better, by starting the Simbrah breed. His belief in the breed never wavered and at the time of his death, he was actively involved and was increasing his numbers through embryo transfer. Simbrah sales and show rings will have an empty seat, as Wentz’s love for life, the breed, his laugh, his generous spirit and his ability to just bring an element of fun to any situation will be missed. He was a lifelong resident in the Brownsville, Texas area and was also a pioneer in the sugar cane industry in the Rio Grande Valley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton E. Wentz Sr. and Monica C. Wentz; his first wife, Jeanine DeFoor Wentz; and his sister, Jacklyn Kincannon.

Bud was known for his ability to market Simbrah cattle, as well as many other things. At one of his sales, he personally demonstrated the riding ability of the donkey he was selling to support a cause.

Survivors include Maria Guadalupe Wentz; his children: Bill Wentz, David Wentz, Diane (Anthony) Burdette, Leticia (Luis Eduardo) Gosser Gonzalez, and Marco Andres Gosser and grandchildren: Anthony Burdette, Danielle (Vincent) Folgore, Christen Wentz, Ashley Monique, Ryan Andrew, and Matthew Edward Gonzalez; and two great-grandchildren: Niya and Gino Folgore, plus numerous other extended family members. Services for M.E. Bud Wentz were held Monday, August 20 at the Darling-Mouser Funeral home, Brownsville, Texas. The family has requested that memorials be made in Wentz’s name to Sunshine Haven, a care facility for the terminally ill, at P.O. Box 4478, Brownsville, Texas.

Glossary

All-purpose Index (API): Evaluates sires for use on the entire cow herd (bred to both Angus first–calf heifers and mature cows) with the portion of their daughters required to maintain herd size retained and the remaining heifers and steers put on feed and sold grade and yield. Terminal Index (TI): Evaluates sire for use on mature Angus cows with all offspring put on feed and sold grade and yield. Using API and TI: First, determine which index to use; if you’re keeping replacements use API, if not, TI. Then just as with EPDs zero in on the unit difference between the bulls. The difference can be used to determine how much a bull is worth compared to another. Or, put another way, how much you can pay for one bull compared to another. For example, when buying an all-purpose-type sire, you can quickly figure a bull scoring +100 for API is worth an extra $6,000 over a +50 bull if both are exposed to 30 cows over 4 years ($50 diff. x 30 hd. X 4 yr.=$6,000). A percentileranking chart is required to determine where a bull’s index value ranks him relative to other bulls in the breed. For percentile rankings or more detailed information about EPDs and $ indexes visit www.simmental.org.

Triple P Ranch

Triple P is proud once again to invite everyone to Synergy V. Hope we have something for everyone. As always, we are heavily involved and wholeheartedly support the Simbrah breed and all of the junior programs they offer. Our ranch door is always open and we welcome all visitors. Feel free to call on us at any time for help, support or to just talk about Simbrah cattle.

La Muneca Cattle Co.

Welcome to Synergy V, a great Simbrah event that features quality cattle, a phenomenal junior program and some really nice folks. We created MAS, which is what SYNERGY is patterned after in an effort to unite Simbrah breeders to grow the breed. In just seven years there has been over $208,000 in premiums awarded to Simbrah juniors, over $4.3 million worth of Simbrahs sold and many new breeders established at these 11 events.

Triple J Ranch

As time passes, our direction, resources, and passions are changing. Our Triple J Ranch has morphed from a weekend hobby, to a 4-H mindset, to a “breeding for building” ranch. Now, we are moving in a new direction. We have our sites on perfection and to enjoy the genetics we have assembled. Our cattle will be fewer, but will be the best there is to view in the Simbrah and Simmental world. Beyond the names, Priceless, Thunderstruck, Spectrum, Smith Andy, Sargeant, Hide N Seek, Nu Wave 11, there will be a look that we will seek. And these will be the cattle we will be offering in the future. Triple J Ranch will become our family’s place of great enjoyment (this is what you get to do when you pass 60!!). Our front porch will be a great viewing spot for beautiful cattle, the barn a place where grandchildren can touch the gentlest of the herd, and the pastures a showcase for the best of the best. We hope you will take some time to come visit our ranch. We think you will enjoy and admire what you see. And for your shopping convenience, just 5 miles down the road, Jake, Amber and Gianna, (pictured) can show you hundreds of reasons to choose Simbrah cattle. Hope to see you soon.

La Muneca Cattle Co. is owned by the Carlos & Sister Guerra family. We raise registered Simbrahs, Braunviehs, Polled Brahman and are creating a new breed called Simbravieh. Having been raised on a commercial cattle ranch provided us with the basics of producing no nonsense, easy keeping, functional, gentle cattle with plenty of muscle and structural soundness. Having been in the registered business since 1963 has taught us the importance of pedigrees, performance, promotion and people. We love working with juniors and are proud of our junior program considered the most supportive in the country. Our LMC sponsored junior shows will offer $100,000 in premiums this next show year. Please check out our website at wwww.lamunecacattle.com THANKS for supporting SYNERGY V and Simbrah - The World’s Breed. Visitors are always WELCOME at La Muneca.

BetM Ranch

We are enjoying some exciting times here at BETM Ranch, as we have been blessed with some good rain the last few months and calves from our embryo transfer program will be hitting the ground soon. We have also been blessed with great interest in our Simbrah and Simbravieh cattle and appreciate all of our new and repeat customers. This excitement leads us into Synergy V where BETM will be consigning a great offering of Simbrah and Simbravieh females, including a ¾ Simmental x ¼ Brahman cow bred to our exciting 2011 National Champion Bull, LMC Arcadio. BETM Ranch is located in Castroville, Texas and we run around 70 head of primarily Simbrah cattle with a few Braunvieh and Simbravieh cows. We focus on producing high quality cattle by utilizing some of Simbrah’s very best, including LMC WFC Ms. Dream Girl and LMC HS Rocco. We enjoy working with the juniors and our cattle are eligible for the $100,000 La Muneca Jr. Program. We hope that you will join us for Synergy V and stay for the $15,000 Showcase. If ever in the San Antonio area, give our herdsman Ted Tschirhart a call at 210.827.7949 and come see our stock at work in the nearby scenic Medina Valley. We would like to thank our sale host Tim Smith for having us and welcome you to Synergy V.

Hagan Cattle Company

Cattle have always been a part of our lives as we are involved in the registered, commercial and sale barn segments of the beef cattle. Our registered program started as an extension of our boys, Reinhard and Reese’s show projects. Our seedstock program has become synonymous with show ring champions and we believe our offering is our strongest yet, with many candidates headed to the winner’s circle. All three generations of our family want to welcome you to the sale and thank you for your interest in Simbrah

Burch Farms

Diamond RF Farms

We are proud to be a member of Synergy. We hope you will be able to join us for a premier Simbrah event. Our lots this year, are some of our best and we really hate to part with them. Last year was a really challenging year to be in the cattle business with the severe drought. This year we have been blessed with ample rain and we have really good grass. After selling a large portion of our cattle due the drought last year, we are in a rebuilding mode. We are continuing to improve our genetics and concentrating on our donor program. Martha and I look forward to seeing you at Synergy V.

Welcome to Synergy, whether you are attending for the first time or have made the previous Synergy events we appreciate your support. Diamond RF Farms started in 2002, when our son began showing cattle at our local county fair. This will be our fourth year to be involved in Synergy and we are bringing another quality set of females to the sale. This year we are offering a donor cow; percentage heifer and a couple of purebred heifers. Our program is not a large operation, however, we focus on integrity and quality in every animal that we raise. We will be having calves out of Smith Foster Automatic, LMC Red Moves, NF Smith Sargeant, and Smith Nu Approach along with several other matings. Our program is still under the supervision of Richard III, even though he is working in Nebraska. Feel free to visit with us at any time regarding our program or animals that we currently have in this year’s Simbrah Synergy Sale.

Reavis Farms

We are a diversified family operation with Simbrahs, cotton, grain sorghum, onions and watermelons. We have been involved with Simbrahs since 1987 and are still excited about the breed. We have our best calves, yet, on the ground from sires including Charismatic, Nu Wave II, Sargeant,Smith Evan, RFI Thunderstruck and Smith Also N Red. We continue to add donor power to our home raised RFI Smith Tinkerbell, the 2009 San Antonio Grand Champion and the 2009 AJSR Champion. Recent Reavis female standouts include RFI Ritzy, the 2011 National Champion Female for Winston Walters and RFI Smith Fresh Approach, the 2011 National Reserve Grand Champion Female. We are very proud of our offering for Synergy V and extend an invitation to you to the fall event of the breed.

McCrary Farms

This marks our 13th year as Simbrah breeders and we continue to make select purchases to add to the quality of the program and breed some of the best sire power in the breed. Our initial purchase of 35 head from Smith Genetics was largely Simmental and three-quarter females. Our numbers are now reaching close to 100 females with sire genetics of Smith NF Sargeant, Smith Isgrig Charismatic, Smith Evan, Smith McCrary Andy Black and Smith Matt N Black, who was the 2009 International Grand Champion Simmental bull. Our place is located in northeast Texas in the town of DeKalb, just a few miles from the Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana borders near Texarkana. Come see us and our three grandchildren, pictured here, Jamison, Jackson and Landry.

Baring Cattle Company

All of us at Baring Cattle Company want to welcome you to SynergyV and all the activities associated with this event. Our family has deep roots in agriculture and we are proud to be the fourth and fifth generations to ranch in Texas. We are pleased with the cattle we have assembled in our herd and the predictability we are producing. We are located just outside of San Antonio, Texas at Elmendorf and we would love to have you visit us when you’re in the Alamo City.

Wentz Farming Co.

I am selling the Wentz herd in this year’s Synergy. This was a decision Bud and I reached together, weeks before his death in August. This offering has some of the best of the breed, Oprah, Diva, Rita, and Juliet as the lead donors, plus progeny, embryos and pregnancies from these leading ladies. Bud loved the Simbrah breed and he often talked about how great the cattle were when he founded the breed and how much greater they are now. Many of those great ones, he admired, will sell as Wentz lots in Synergy V. Personally, I want to thank everyone for their kind words and support over the past few weeks. I would be remiss not to thank Tim Smith, who has walked along side of me to present these cattle at their best and to handle so many marketing details for Wentz Farming Company.

Pine Ridge Ranch

Smith Farms

Pine Ridge is an industry leading genetic ranch whose purpose is to breed the most efficient hot weather cow….. with a most acceptable carcass. We are utilizing a breeding formula with over 50 breeding characteristics. During the last 30 years, Pine Ridge developed a leading hot weather environmental cow with a very valuable carcass. Recently, Pine Ridge has statistically achieved its carcass goal: 100% choice, 100% YG 1, 2, and 3. We believe that we have eliminated the YG 4, 5 carcass through genetic identification. In addition, the Pine Ridge carcass is very acceptably tender. We have no known genetic defects and do not line breed. A broad genetic base has been utilized with frequent introduction of worldwide genetics from fellow Simmental and Simbrah breeders. Internationally known for high quality Simbrah, Pine Ridge was the number one exporter to Mexico of all USA breeders and all USA breeds in 2008. Pine Ridge has provided Simbrah calves to junior exhibitors helping win the coveted Texas Junior Livestock Association Simbrah Grand Championship for many years. Recently, Pine Ridge junior members have won Reserve Grand Championships at the Synergy, Houston, San Antonio, Fort Worth, and Grand Championships at Four States and the State Fair of Texas. Pine Ridge consists of 1434 acres in Athens, Texas and has approximately 600 Simbrah for fellow breeders to study and purchase. After 21 ranch sales ending in 2003, we now market by private treaty. Come visit and explore our unique genetic program. www.simbrah.com.

Ronnie Smith’s love for Simgenetics can be traced back to Simmental’s arrival in the U.S. He built a Simmental herd and was also a breeder of Brahmentals, which was the original name of today’s Simbrahs. In addition, for more than 10 years, he was involved with SimAngus genetics in New Mexico. Today, he and his wife, Susan are focusing their efforts on raising Simbrahs. Their herd sire battery is anchored by two breed greats, Smith Nu Wave II and Sargeant. Both of these bulls are top ranking EPD bulls in the Simbrah breed and have claimed the number one or number two ranking overall for the past three years. Females lining their embryo transfer program include a LMC She Moves daughter, as well as the 2011 Houston Junior Show Reserve Grand Champion Female. Smith Farms has also purchased embryos from the Smith Bella Bella cow that won every major and junior show in Texas and a flush in the great Diva, the dam of Dream Girl, who also won the purple at all the Texas shows. In addition, they are maintaining an elite herd of ¼ x ¾ foundation females for the purpose of outcrossing new bloodlines into their Simbrah herd. Ronnie and Susan are excited to be part of Synergy and invite you to visit their program at www.smithfarmsdentontx.com or come to the ranch, outside of Denton, Texas, just 35 miles north of Fort Worth.

Smith Genetics

I want to thank everyone for your involvement in Synergy. The success of events 1, 11, 111 and IV were overwhelming and I believe you will see an even higher level of quality in Synergy V’s offering. Smith Genetics includes Simbrah, Simmental and a registered horse division in my home state of Kentucky. Smith Genetics has developed a number of elite cow families and we are proud to be the breeders of the following sires, who are being utilized heavily in this breed: Smith Nu Wave I and II, Sargeant, Charismatic, Evan, Nu Approach, Satisfies, Ronen, Andy, Matt and William. I am proud to host Synergy and want to extend a big welcome to you to the event and to Smith Genetics.

LMC Miss Diva Dam of Lot 1.

LMC EF JW Black 3N/225 DAM: LMC Miss Diva LMC Oprah 5P/50

Here is one of the best herd bull opportunities to come along in a long time. We like to use most of our young bulls for 2-3 years and then share them with the breed in an effort to keep our genetics as fresh as possible, but still let these good proven bulls continue to help move the breed forward. LMC WFC Wave Amigo 5U/58 offers the TOTAL package in the prime of his life and can put your program on the map. He is proven, prolific and powerful. He is a full sib to the popular, National and International Champion $42,000 LMC WFC Dream Girl, whose calves are averaging over $15,000. She is the dam to LMC 6G Red Rock, the 2012 International Champion bull. Another full sister to Wave Amigo, LMC WFC Rita that sold for 25 g’s to Bud & Lupita Wentz, also sells as does their dam, the great LMC Miss Diva and her dam LMC Oprah. Wave Amigo is a son of Smith Nu Wave II and LMC Diva, two of the hottest Simbrahs going today. He is the most popular, productive and proven black son of Smith Nu Wave II. As you can see in his photo and will see on sale day – HE NEARS PERFECTION IN THE FLESH. He has produced several high dollar show heifers and show steers. He consistently produces very correct, functional cattle with clean underlines as proven by the herd bull prospect we are selling in this sale as Lot 2 and the baby dolls selling as Lots 3-7. He is the kind of bull that can pay for himself with his calves or with semen sales. We thank Darryl Raub and La Morra for investing in $2,000 breeding shares. Dawson Raub showed a son that he raised out of his LMC show heifer and won Grand Champion at the LMC $ellabration Bull Show that he sold La Morra for $3,200. He also bred the Reserve Champion, another Wave Amigo son that sold for $4,500 to James Watson at the LMC Sellabration sale. I’d say that young man is in the bull business and pretty darn good at it. We sold a baby doll daughter to Ruben Garcia for $10,000 in MAS VI. We have also sold some top daughters to Pete Nieschwietz and Rickey Burch. We have also sold show heifers this year to Aaron Saenz, Abigail Alejandro, Mia Barba, Emma Berry, Nicole Stevenson, Joe Seale, Tanner Feldhoff, Kevin Koehl, Brody and Lorelai Hill. We have also sold show steers to Yulisa Santana, Joesph Falcon, Manny Gonzales, Cameron Robles, Andres and Victoria Villanueva for a total of 16 head of show calves for a $3,106 average at 6 mos. of age. That is the kind of herd bull a progressive breeder should be considering. The COWMAN’s rule of thumb is that a good bull is worth what 5 to 6 of his calves sell for, which means this bull is worth 15 to 20 g’s. If you buy him for less, you made a great buy!! A semen bank of 100 units sells with the bull for the best insurance money can buy. Selling full interest, full possession.

Smith Nu Wave II Sire of Lot 1.

LMC-WFC Dream Girl Full sister to Lot 1.

Daughter of Lot 1. This heifer sold to Ruben Garcia for $10,000, and is also a maternal sib to Lot 12.

If you keep up with the Simmental industry then you will know the impact SS Breath Taker has made. This black heifer will make a great cow for her new owner. The only reason Delilah is in the sale is due to the drought, as our heifer numbers were down this fall and spring and we need to keep our reputation of selling our best. Lining up Johnny Walker and Breath Taker has taken all the guesswork out of this mating. Keep it simple--good cows have good calves. Be sure to look her up on sale day you will be glad you did.

Lucky Muneca is sired by one of the best carcass sires in the Simmental breed, GW Lucky Break and is out of a tremendous F-1 Bravo daughter who registered 11 calves that averaged over $3,750 for La Muneca. The Lucky Breaks make good cows and adding these genetics should increase your consumer demand. Of course, the Bravo bull needs no introduction, one of the best Red Brahman bulls of all time that sold over half of a million dollars in semen and is still being used today. We sold a daughter of Lucky Muneca to Pete Nieschwietz of 7N Ranch for $2,500 this June in MAS VII and have kept another daughter to improve our herd. Lucky Muneca has been a productive cow for us and sells bred to the 2011 National Champion Simbrah Bull, LMC Arcadio, who we believe will complement her very well. We eagerly await the Arcadio calves and you can have one of the first ones when you add Lucky Muneca to your herd. Arcadio is a LMC ATZ Dr. Feelgood son out of an Smith James Outlaw daughter of the infamous LM Rob’s Muneca 3E/89. Lucky Muneca is in the top 3% of the breed for API. Back in 2010 we purchased Miss JWL Niki as a bred in the Broken Oak Ranch Production Sale because of her design and performance. Niki is a deep-sided Braunvieh cow that is still producing great cattle for us at 11 years of age. Given the quality of Niki’s Silverado heifer calf that she had here at BETM, we decided to flush her to our outstanding Simbrah herd sire LMC HS Rocco and produced these two outstanding females. Sophie is a lot like Niki, stout and sound with a lot of look and destined to be a donor. Anna favors Rocco as she is longer than a freight train and has a cool front end but remains plenty thick. Whether you are looking for a brood cow donor prospect or a championship caliber show heifer, you can find it right here in these two outstanding heifers. Rocco daughters have won at San Angelo, LMC Futurity, LMC Jackpot and stood Reserve at the Houston Jr., Synergy Showcase and LMC Futurity in the past couple of years, these sisters should continue the winning tradition. CONGRATULATIONS to Holli Baker and Caleb Fuchs for all of their championships with their BETM Simbravieh heifers purchased at Synergy IV. Both of these heifers are eligible for the $100,000 La Muneca Jr. Program, where Caleb Fuchs won $600 in the 2012 La Muneca Jackpot for winning Grand Champion Percentage Female. As you go up from there, look at the bone structure, length, depth, volume, sheath, muscle, topline and he is very gentle to go a long with all of those fantastic qualities. Combined with his pedigree, you can’t deny that this is a tremendous specimen. We have used this bull in our own herd and have saved all of his heifers, they are awesome! Maternally speaking, her mother is a direct daughter of Smith Annie Lou and PRR Red Ammo. Annie Lou is one of the most unique females I have ever seen, she is extremely big bodied and stout made yet very agile and lady like when set into motion. She herself has set a precedence for producing top quality Simbrahs like; Smith Phenomenal and Smith MDM Look AT Me, both champion females when entered into competition. As an added bonus, Black Magic, a Nu Wave daughter is very pleasing to the eye, and very maternal in the way that she is built. Starting at the ground; she is big footed and soft in her joints allowing for maximum ground coverage with each step. Additionally she is smooth shouldered, big bodied and level hipped, all traits her mother and grandmother both possess. We purchased her mother from our good friends at the Rew Ranch in Kansas City Missouri, she is a beautiful baldie heifer calf sired by Triple C Bettis. Ava is the very first Simmental female that we have ever produced, and a really good one at that. This February born heifer calf, is sired by Matt, a Dream On son out of a Love Me Don’t U daughter. Both Dream On and Love Me Don’t U are household names in the Simmental industry. Dream On now deceased, was once the #1 bull in the Simmental breed; Love Me Don’t You, is no stranger to the breed, she currently records 90 known progeny with the ASA, with many more still to come. Ava’s mother was our pick of the Simmental calves in 2009 at Smith Genetics due to her strong maternally packed pedigree and beautiful phenotype. Her mother is sired by a full brother to WLE Powerstroke, who is sired by the original great Simmental sire X339U. Ava’s mother is out of what we consider to be one of Lot 35 the best Simmental cows owned by Smith Genetics, Smith NPCC Schnazzie. Schnazzie is a gorgeous red Simmental cow that’s loaded with body and femininity, but most importantly has a nearly perfect udder and bag at 13 years of age. This year we decided to do something different and offer up one of our replacement heifers, this is not just any replacement heifer though. Come sale day somebody is going to take Ms Independence home and we are going to head home wondering why we just let this caliber of a female go. Independence is sired by the highly sought after, and increasingly popular Nu Approach; who if I’ve counted correctly has sired 4 of the last 8 champions in the female division at San Antonio and Houston. Her mother is the past 2007 State Futurity Champion Female, who is sired by Red Moves, a full brother to She Moves. Not to mention, her maternal grandmother is a full sister to LMC Full House, a past breed great and LMC Legacy. Think about it, I am not sure you can pack more known breed greats into one pedigree; Nu Approach, 3C Pasque, Trendsetter, Red Moves, Power House 1, Muneca 3E-89, and her mother, who is a past state champion. When you combine all this with a phenotype, that is destined to work on numerous sires, your money making possibilities are endless. Independence possesses that striking red blaze face and white underline, along with a nearly perfect teat and udder attachment for a first calf heifer. She will sell as a bred heifer in the sale, we don’t know yet if she is bred or not, but we will promise to get her bred before you take ownership of her. AI’d on 7/20 to Smith Ronen- will be pregnancy checked before the sale.

When I met with Bud and Lupita to discuss dispersing their herd after Bud became ill, he told me it was an honor to share a piece of himself in each of the animals he produced and or was associated with – the cattle were truly his passion! He thought his calf crop was indicative of his genetic goals and was proud to share them with fellow breeders! He hoped that the Simbrah Breed would benefit by having his genetic base infused in multiple herds and I assured him that would be the case. He told me that chapters could be written about these cows but he wanted me to “Keep It Simple”. I shared with him that many breeders will be proud to have the WENTZ name and genetics in the pedigrees of their cow herds. This dispersal is a “Genetic Opportunity of a Lifetime”!

Eve and Heidi have generated a lot of interest here at Smith Genetics this summer. Bud and I wanted to combine the Bella Bella and Oprah cow families in a flush mating and when Bud saw Smith Evan at the ranch, he thought he was one of the most complete bulls he had ever seen. Bud said: “Let’s make it happen” and that we did with these two beautiful heifers. To have purebred Simbrah heifers that are shaped like these two with that “show me” attitude and killer look is impressive. Both heifers qualify for two straws of semen from Smith Genetics herd bulls for future use on these females - plus they are both ready to show and qualify for the Showcase, Superbowl, and MAS Shows totaling over $50,000 in awards and premiums. I do not know which one of these is better, but the second best one is really good!

Only in a dispersal does the opportunity to buy one of the best donor cows and money producing females in the breed come available! Diva has done it all, but her most recognized accomplishment to date was her mating to Smith Nu Wave II to produce the $40,000 donor cow, LMC WFC Dream Girl, who won numerous shows for Jordan Grahmann including the 2009 National and International Shows, not to mention the sought after $10,000 Scholarship Show at San Antonio – every Simbrah breeder knows this LMC WFC Dream Girl- the $40,000 daughter of Diva. female! In addition to Dream Girl, Diva produced several other great females including; one of Bud’s favorite donors, the $25,000 Rita (selling as Lot 100), and Wentz Smith Dream Lady who topped the Synergy IV sale at $25,000 and was purchased by Ronnie and Susan Smith of Smith Farms to go join her sister LMC WFC Whitney in their donor lineup. These mature daughters are followed by younger Diva daughters that recently sold to Sophia Palmore and Jacob Friederich and they will be campaigned in the upcoming show season. Diva has also proven herself as a dam of great herd sires, including LMC WFC Moose and LMC WFC Wave Amigo who sells as Lot 1, plus a new bull calf still nursing momma was recently selected by Ray Hill to headline his young breeding program. Diva is considered by many as the best daughter of her popular sire, LMC EF JW Black 3N/225 and when she is mated to the breed leading performance sire, Smith Nu Wave II - it just doesn’t’ get much better as proven by the resulting progeny. This donor previously had a vaginal prolapse but has continued to work in embryo transplant and has always maintained a healthy status. If you can’t afford her on sale day, be sure to think hard about purchasing one of her many offspring that are part of this historic offering. Diva sells open and ready for embryo transplant. They have done it again and again and again – the mating of Diva X Nu Wave II is a don’t miss scenario! These heifers are loaded with the same femininity and dimension as their full sisters, Dream Girl and Rita – imagine their future potential in the show ring and as brood cows. Keep in mind the heifers qualify for Synergy Showcase, MAS Showdown, and Superbowl shows. The females sell with the buyers choice of any two straws of semen from Smith Genetics herd sires for future use with these heifers. The bull calves, Up Side and Up Top, carry a tremendous amount of muscle and internal body capacity; their ability to add performance and style to a calf crop is evident when you study them. The EPDs on these calves is exceptional and they rank in the top 1% of the breed for WW, top 2% for YW, and top 1% for Terminal Index (TI). The guesswork on the genetic potential of these calves has been eliminated by their older siblings and now you just need to calculate their future profit potential – think about the built in breed notoriety and pedigree recognition that goes with these cattle. Don’t hold it against a cow and get sidetracked with the fact that Bud used several of his purebred cows as recipients. It was not because they were bad producers – just the opposite. He wanted to produce as many embryo calves as quickly as possible. He used any registered cow that was not one of his selected donors as recipients because he said they would milk, they were fertile, they were gentle and he didn’t have to look at a bunch of crossbred cows raising his great ET calves, he wanted to look at Simbrah – that was our Bud! Toria is being used as a recipient today, but she is truly a front pasture kinda cow. She has a royal pedigree being a daughter of Bet M herds lead donor, Swan, and the proven Johnnie Walker. Take a look at her picture and you will appreciate her quality and total dimension.

Smith William N Black, service sire for Lot 100.

Powerful, yet elegant best describes this Diva X Nu Wave II daughter. Her picture is worth a thousand words and when you see her side profile in person--she is simply stunning. She is a long sided female with a tremendous amount of internal dimension and base width. Rita is a littermate to the famous LMC WFC Dream Girl, LMC WFC Moose, and LMC WFC Wave Amigo. Rita was shown by Julia Hunt and won the 2010 Grand Champion Female Honors at the MAS Showdown and was awarded $3,000.00 with her heifer calf at side, American Honey (selling as Lot 101). Bud watched the show and admired the udder and maternal characteristics of this female with her first calf at side and he and Lupita decided they wanted to own 100% interest in the cow. The joint owners decided on a value of $25,000 and at the end of the day following her being named Grand Champion of the show, she was owned totally by Wentz Farming Co. She confirmed Bud’s faith in her producing ability and value when she produced two outstanding daughters sired by NF Smith Sargeant that sold in Synergy IV for a total of $34,000 to Smith Farms and LaBlanquita breeding programs. Rita is safe in calf to the $20,000 black Simmental bull, Smith William N Black, who is owned jointly by Smith Genetics and Smith Farms. The resulting ¾ blood calf will be the first ¾ produced from this lineage and the potential here is exciting. Bud had great expectations for the future of this young four-year-old donor and I have no doubt that Rita will be a Simbrah household name before she is done producing. Selling full interest and full possession. Sells safe in calf with a 5/5/12 breeding date to Smith William N Black.

MV Red Light 406 SIRE: NF Smith Sargeant Madam X

hr power house 1 DAM: Triple P Kiya SCC Cleopatra J102

Oh Yeah! She is just as beautiful in person as she is in her picture. Juliet is built as solidly as you could draw one. She is attractive through her front third, neat in her shoulder, deep sided, good uddered, and well-balanced throughout. Set her in motion and she only becomes more appealing. Juliet was purchased by Bud in Synergy III for $20,000 and in Synergy IV he sold her first calf, Smith Wentz Superior for $14,000 and the proud new owner was Candice Tindle, who has campaigned her to Grand Champion Female honors at 2012 Houston International Junior Show and the 2012 Fort Worth Stock Show, to name a few. The Juliet cow is a prime example of the maternal power her sire, NF Smith Sargeant, puts into his daughters – they are phenomenal cows. Caleb Rodenbeck recently selected another Nu Wave II daughter out of Juliet, making her a full sister to Superior, to serve as his lead show heifer for the 2013 show season. This mating has been very consistent, as you can see two more sibs sell as lots 106 and 107. Juliet averages nine viable embryos per flush on a low dose of follicle stimulating hormones. Juliet is easy on the eyes, prolific, and consistent in production. If you are looking for a young donor to be a cornerstone for your program, you need to own this one. Selling full interest and full possession.

Wentz Superior Mom at 2012 Houston. She was the grand champion at Fort Worth and Houston Junior Shows for exhibitor, Candice Tindle, who purchased her in the 2011 Synergy Sale.

These Smith Nu Wave II calves are full siblings to the 2012 Houston International Junior Show Grand Champion Female, Smith Wentz Superior. The EPDs on these young calves is off the charts for performance traits of WW, YW and TI – all in top 1% of the breed. Both calves are halter broke and the heifer qualifies for Smith Genetics semen benefits as well as the ability to compete at the Synergy Showcase, MAS Showdown and Superbowl. This bull calf has the potential of making a great herdsire and the first from this cow family. The future for the Juliet cow family is very promising and these calves offer you the opportunity to get in on the ground level.

CNS Dream On L186 SIRE: Smith NF Simply Great Madam x

Selling two embryos with a guarantee of two pregnancies if implanted at Smith Genetics. Our program at Smith Genetics is first and foremost built around the influence and power of cow families! Market demand is the key to driving our breeding program and the Bella Bella genetics are the most sought after at Smith Genetics from both domestic and foreign buyers. Bella Bella is without a doubt one of the best cows in the Simbrah Breed and several breeders claim her to be the best all around – she is ideal in type and structure as a cow and she still travels with that admired length of stride and smoothness that judges loved when she was a heifer - she still has one of the longest and most level hips I have seen on a Simbrah - Can you tell by now she is truly one of my all time favorites!!!! Every time Rodney Finch comes to the ranch, to this very day, Bella stops him in his tracks and he takes a moment just to admire her features. Kara and Rodney had a blast campaigning this female during her show career and they won every major with the highlight being crowned 2007 Grand Champion at the Houston International! That was just the beginning because Bella’s daughter, Smith Ciao Bella followed her dam’s footsteps and was crowned 2011 International Houston Champion. In addition to Ciao Bella, we have another Bella daughter sired by Smith Simply Great in our donor program and for the first time we are selling a flush in this next breed great as Lot 129. Bella also produced multiple herd sires sired by Sargeant in the Burch Farms, Hill/Palmore, Schultz, Whicker, Nietschwietz, and Dziuk herds, as well as Nu Approach sons represented in the Whicker, Reavis Farms and McCrary Farms herds. Bella Bella has generated over $200,000 in revenue from progeny and embryo sales which addresses the demand for her genetic power! The embryos selling are sired by one of the strongest maternal sires in the breed, NF Smith Sargeant and will be full sibs to the Ronnie Smith heifer selling as Lot 61--be sure and check her out! This cow family makes us money and the resulting calves from this mating will make you money – it is a proven mating!

Selling one flush with a guarantee of four viable embryos and a minimum of two pregnancies with the embryo work to be done by Smith Genetics. Smith Genetics is proud to offer the next generation of the Bella Bella family and this is the first time anything has been sold from the Sweet Bella heifer. Each year we put our best and freshest genetics in the SYNERGY Sale and with that in mind we decided to offer the first embryo transplant opportunity in Sweet Bella. Several folks looked at this female and automatically said; “That is a Bella Bella daughter!” – she truly resembles her dam. Whether you study her or her picture you will appreciate her attractive profile. This female is super sound structured, carries a lot of width and dimension down her top, stays very square over her hip and has plenty of rib shape. Her sire, Smith NF Simply Great is a full brother to our new donor, Smith Madam W (sired by Dream On) and a maternal brother to the proven NF Smith Sargeant. Sweet Bella has a very balanced set of EPDs that when combined rank her in the top 1% of the breed for TI and top 2% of the breed for API – one of the highest EPD ranking females in the breed! Keep in mind that all the herd sires owned by Smith Genetics are available to the buyer for use in this flush at no additional expense. Cutting edge genetics with an opportunity for a tremendous return on your investment!

These Nu Wave II daughters are tremendous cows that post top of the chart breed EPDs for performance traits including top 1% for WW and TI. Annie Beth like her sisters is a stout made, large footed female that has that maternal, brood cow appearance and she will develop into a great female. The mating of Nu Wave II and Annie Lou has never missed. Remember two straws of semen from our herd bull battery is available for future use on this young lady.

Pay attention here! Just like her dam, she is a bold sprung, deep bodied, large boned heifer with lots of muscle expression and all in a well-balanced package. This is the first time we have ever offered a Sargeant daughter out of Annie Lou at public auction. This pedigree combination is exciting with all the maternal strength you could ask for coming from both sides of the pedigree – Outlaw X Sargeant. This tremendous brood cow prospect will be fun to breed off of, particularly when you consider that two straws of semen from Smith Genetics is available for future use! I would definitely use at least one straw of Smith Nu Wave II to produce that magical cross that has produced so many breed greats (Sargeant X Nu Wave II)!

Eyes On Me is the first daughter produced by the 2010 Belt Buckle Bonanza Grand Champion Female, Smith MDM Look At Me. She is also a full sister to our junior herd sire, Smith BSF Watch Me that sold 1/3 interest to Smith Farms for $8,500 in Synergy III – we are excited to see his first calves. She is a bold sprung female with lots of spring of rib and muscle definition. In addition to being a member of the Annie Lou family, she is a result of the magical mating of crossing NF Smith Sargeant X Smith Nu Wave II genetics – it just simply works and has the EPD numbers to back it up ranking in the top 1% of the breed for performance traits! Once again the new owner will have access to utilize two straws of semen from the Smith Genetics herd bull battery for future use with this female- lots of exciting possibilities.
