Here is an outstanding Red Heifer with some white on her belly line. We showed her at the Iowa State Fair, she was still a little green then, but coming on really nice. She’s Clean front, long neck, level top, with a Square Hip. Will make a fun project. She’s out of a unregistered purebred cow, and our Quiet Man son.

A little bit younger female here, but still a great cow in the making. A beautiful roan sired by Mapleton Earl. When we were deciding what females to consign, we knew we had to bring an Earl daughter. This heifer is one of his last natural calves due to an injury. Out of a cow that has a fantastic udder and continues to give us heifer calves. Due late April to early May to DMCC Macho 54H. DNA pending.

My consignments to 4-State sale have been bred heifers, of which I’m short on this year, but I cut out a good one to share. Good red, polled heifer that was just born out of synch of my spring and fall programs. These AV Count 9029 daughters are making really great cows and with the EPD profile in addition to how this one is bred, she
shouldn’t be leaving home.
AI’d to JSF Ronan 5H 4314080 on 6/9/24. Pasture exposed to my new heifer bull PVSF Leon 102L 4356207 6/11 – 8/8/24. Genomic enhanced EPDs, OCV, BVD PI negative. Vet confirmed 2 ½ months bred on 9/12/24.

This moderate Framed Red Bred Heifer has a lot to offer. She’s deep ribbed, bold spring with a big top. Appeals to be Easy Fleshing. She’s out of a peach colored Char Shorthorn Cross Cow. Out of our Quiet Man Son we purchased from Wernicke Shorthorns.
Bred for an April Calf to one of our New Herd Sires, BS4 Hot Commodity M23 ET, Reg# 4358438.
GOLDEN CHAIN G 21
This cow family needs no introduction. Gentle disposition, halter broke, and a high potential to add quality to any herd. High expectations for show quality calves with great genetics.
Good middle-aged cow with a great udder, who’s put two daughters back in the herd so decided to offer her for sale. She came in dam with the Lone Oak dispersal purchase, so has a bit different pedigree on the top than you will typically see in our hills of NE Kansas.
Will calve by sale day and the mating to Jury Duty could be a really good one. Pasture exposed to Studer’s Jury Duty 86J x4321597 12/11/23 – 2/10/24. Genomic enhanced EPDs & OCV. BW 70 pounds. Here is a nice young bull that is really starting to come on. He is sired by GPN Gauge 8N20 a bull that I bought from Naylor Shorthorns and used very successfully for several years. The dam side of the pedigree brings in Waukaru genetics as well as heritage genetics going back to one of the greats Boa Kae Royal Oak. This bull is super docile and will be a positive addition to any herd.
Look at these genetics! This clean fronted, deep ribbed bull is out of the Golden Chain cow family and sired by Big Sky. He has a great disposition and is in our show string. He will work on heifers and should add size and depth to any herd.
A dark red, long bodied bull with good muscle expression. Sire’s dam is by Saskvalley Bonanza.Easy calving is indicated by his birthweight EPD. He should add pounds and milk to your calf crop.

Honoree
BOB BLAKEMORE
This year we would like to honor one of the long time members of the Four State Shorthorn Association. A true promoter of this sale and the Shorthorn breed. Bob ran his own herd of Shorthorns until his retirement 12 years ago. He supported the Four State sale as well as holding his own production sale with good friend Billy Joe Fisher in the 80’s. Bob was instrumental in working with Allen McReynolds of the old Joplin Stockyards to secure a permanent place for the sale to be held. Eventually moving the sale to Diamond, Missouri. Bob was always on the block giving his humorous opening joke and adding positive comments to the animals in the ring. A true cattleman, but more importantly a great friend and mentor to many.
