Dr. George Beeler has done a stringent BSE (Breeding Soundness Evaluation) on every bull in this sale. Each bull selling has passed Dr. Beeler’s tests and is considered a satisfactory and potential breeder. All bulls are guaranteed as breeding bulls through the first breeding season. If a problem should arise, please contact any of the above numbers and we will offer a replacement bull of equal or greater quality. If a replacement bull is not available when needed, a credit will be issued for Mound Creek’s 2012 Bull Sale.

Directions to Mound Creek Ranch

Mound Creek is located northeast of Madisonville or southeast of Centerville. From I 45, take Exit 152 and go east on Hwy OSR. About 6.5 miles from I 45, turn north on FM 579 and go 1.9 miles to Mound Creek Ranch. From Crockett, go west on Hwy 21 to Midway. Take a right on Hwy OSR and go about 7.5 miles and turn north on FM 579. Mound Creek sale entrance will be 1.9 miles.

Palpation

The palpation of this sale offering has been performed both physically and with ultrasound. You will be given our best estimate as to the breeding status and service sire of each female. By using both of the above mentioned means, we feel our best estimate for the service sire will be highly accurate; however, palpation is still a best estimate and not guaranteed to be 100% accurate. Each female called bred is so guaranteed.

Herd Health

Mound Creek Ranch is a Brucellosis Certified Free and TB Accredited Free Herd (#11559). All cattle have been inspected for health and fertility by our veterinarian, are current with annual vaccinations and come with interstate health papers.

You Decide...

ne thing is for sure. This year we promise to have more heaters in the sale barn! Even though we had a crazy cold front blow in the night before last year’s sale we still had an historical Bull Sale in 2010 selling 150 yearling bulls. We are so grateful to all the seedstock breeders and the good cow/calf operators that blessed us with your confidence in our program in 2010. This year we will have about 150 yearling bulls, 30 fall coming two year old bulls, and an exciting Toastie Twenty set of donor quality young females. Good chance if you are studying this catalog then you are involved in the beef business in some way. Mound Creek Ranch, our Alliance members, and program cooperators are in the beef business and it is our job to supply the chain with beef bulls. Not just Brangus bulls, but beef bulls. We state every year it is our goal to raise the best beef bulls in the business and we try to accomplish our goal by raising real beef type Brangus bulls. Due to this stated fact we believe our stock can, and will, compete with any other breed across most of the United States delivering more pounds when marketed and more dollars on pay day. A few points then were done with a promise you will not have to wade through half a catalog of hype. We still sell beef by the pound and will continue to do so. We are seeing loads of feeder steers crowding $1000 per head so every pound you raise is a valuable pound. Our bulls are designed to add more pounds or, if you choose, get them through the feedlot faster with fewer days on feed. Next, we believe stock bulls must be sound footed and sure moving so we work without end on designing the soundness structured bulls in the country. We demand soundness in our herd sires, cow herd, replacement heifers, and ultimately in the bulls we raise and sell every year. Means more calves sired which means more total pounds weaned. Don’t let any other program tell you it’s unimportant. None of the bulls in this sale has had a trimmed hoof. We push fleshing ability in our cow herd, the sires we use, and therefore in the bulls we raise and sell. Everybody knows our cow herd is not pampered and each female is required to earn her way staying in sound body condition. By demanding ease of fleshing in our sale bulls we feel they will stay out longer, get more cattle bred, and come back in looking like beef bulls should, and make you more money.

Early puberty is important since we require our heifers to calve at two, demand our herd sires collect ET quality semen just after coming off gain test, pasture breed our herd sires at 13 to 14 months, require our cow herd breed only in the spring season for 75 days, and demand our sale bulls pass their BSE test at 12 to 13 months. Cattle Load Out

Cattle can be loaded out during and after the sale. We ask that any pot-sized loads wait until the conclusion of the registered female sale to load out. We will load out cattle on Friday and Saturday and ask that each buyer inform the clerks of your desire to load out on Sunday along with an approximate time of arrival. If you require a load out on another day, please inform the clerks as to your desired date and time.

Just like 2010 we will host an All Day Cookout, At the Mound Creek Shootout, At the Four Oaks Hang Out scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. the Sunday right after our Saturday Sale. We know it will be nice to get the Bull Sale and Female Sale behind us and then relax and enjoy our friends on Sunday, March 20th at our Four Oaks Shooting Range. We have added more types of shooting sports this year with the addition of our world class sporting clay range. Just like last year Dan Carlisle and Company will be around to handle some instruction and give you the benefit of the best shooting expertise in the world. We would like for your time at Mound Creek to count for some of those best moments in life so our wish and invitation would be to have you be our guests at the ranch on March 20 so we can become better acquainted, build stronger friendships, and have a great time in a relaxed atmosphere enjoying a day of fun and fellowship. Everyone is invited to come and shoot. Everyone is invited to come and watch. Your participation will not cost you anything. We will provide everything you need to shoot including the shot gun shells, targets, glasses, ear plugs, you name it. We would prefer you bring your own gun, and if not, we will have those available as well. We will have an all day cookout so food will be available throughout the day. Does not matter if you’re a good, average, or bad shot. We will shoot four disciplines to include a world class sporting clays range, an impressive five-stand, the way-too cool tower shoot, and the infamous ZZ bird. Come join us and you will get to meet, observe, shoot beside, and get instruction from Olympians, Olympic Junior Team Members, world class teachers, and many of the finest shotgun sportsman in the entire world. As we said, everything is free to those attending our Bull and Female Sale and all we need is a confirmation from you letting us know you will be a part of this entertaining day. Carlisle Academy at Four Oaks Shotgun Sports Dan Carlisle has dedicated his life to shotgun shooting sports. Being a 4-time Hall of Fame inductee, Olympic medalist, World Champion, 13-time main event National Champion and an avid bird hunter, he has found that his true passion is teaching shotgun sports. Dan is currently on both World teams for the 2011 Veteran class. Being the leading instructor in the United States, his twenty-six years of teaching shotgun sports has allowed him to perfect all aspects of the clay target sport. He has produced more Olympic, World and National champions than any other instructor. The primary focus for Four Oaks Shooting is the education of kids with clinics designed around shotgun safety and discipline, clay shooting, upland game birds and waterfowl techniques. The Super Kids and Parent Hunting Clinics are “out of the box” thinking and will incorporate parent/youth interactive clinics which will involve the parent receiving the same instruction as their child. This enables the parent to have a better understanding and assist the child in their progress as a clay shooter or hunter by reinforcing the techniques learned in the clinics. This in turn will also create a safer and more enjoyable experience while shooting and hunting. This summer Four Oaks Shotgun Sports will feature several shoots while also providing valuable instruction services for the youth of our country. Those noted with a “C” number are Certified Brangus and are either 1/4 or 1/2 Brahman influence. “UB” lots are blended genetic bulls from Brangus and percentage parentage. “UB” bulls are Ultra-Blacks, indicating they are a Brangus-Angus blend. “AX” recorded bulls are appendix registered purebred Brangus that have non-typical Brangus color pattern.

Expected Progeny Difference (EPD): The genetic predictor of how future progeny of each animal are expected to perform relative to the progeny of other animals listed in the breed database. EPD Accuracy: Since all bulls in this catalog are non-parents, their accuracies are the lowest calculated by our national sire evaluation program. Every EPD reported is either current or an interim EPD. An EPD noted with a “P” is a pedigree EPD which is the average of the parent’s EPDs.

Polled/Scurs: denotes bulls that are either smooth polled or have the presence of scurs or slick spots. Those bulls noted as “scurs” typically have had scurs removed post-weaning.

Birth Weight EPD (BW): expressed in pounds, predicts calf size and calving ease. Weaning Weight EPD (WW): expressed in pounds, is a predictor of an animal’s ability to transmit weaning growth to its progeny. Pedigree: denotes sire, dam, and maternal grandparents. Summit Cow or Summit Sire: are noted in pedigrees with the word Summit or the abbreviation (Sum). Initially, a cow must calve at 30 months of age or younger. She must then maintain a calving interval of 380 days or less, weaning at least 3 calves with weaning weights recorded for all calves. Finally, the weaning weight ratio for all calves must average at least 105%. Once a Summit Cow has earned her distinction she will always be noted as such. Resolute got a front leg stepped on as a calf and spent a big part of his early life in a cast. Once the cast came off he had to learn how to walk again and we thought he was done once weaning came. We were very mistaken because Resolute, as his name implies, showed he had a fixed, firm purpose that seemed intent on making a name for himself. Weaned very well but then he really cranked through gain test coming off over 1300 lbs. with incredible measures for scrotal circumference, ribeye area and marbling value. Lot 38 and 39 are full brothers out of RBM Ms Lead Gun 129S8 which also makes them maternal brothers to the phenomenal herd sire prospect we call Resolute (Lot 1E and F). We strongly believe good herd sires start with good mothers and therefore believe strongly in the value of these sons produced by 129S8 who is an important donor for Mound Creek and Blackwater, and a direct daughter of the cow discussed in the notes for Lot 37. MC Jethro 129X12 is the best carcass choice in this sale with the #1 IMF measure and one top 20 ribeye measures. Also, you have to admire his staggering weaning and yearling weights along with those associated ratios. Two full brothers are each herd sire candidates and each represent the impressive design items we see from Rock Star. MC Rock Star 889X22 is moderate in frame size yet offers the punch for post weaning gain and a big yearling weight performance. His initial raising on an average recip dam was offset by a post weaning daily gain approaching 4 lbs. per day. This big middled, wide butted prospect is easy fleshing, friendly tempered, sound of hoof and limb, and certainly the kind to put long term daughters back in the herd and sons certain to attract the most discriminating bull buyers. His moderate, muscular phenotype is backed by an impressive set of measureable traits to include a huge ribeye, leading edge marbling, and 40 cm. plus testicles. We have looked this prospect over quite a few times and he is really coming into his stride. Even though one of the younger bulls in the sale 5137X13 has made up some of the age disadvantage with excellent post weaning gain coupled with impressive carcass measurements, solid testicle size, and overall classy design. He is another bull we believe will move upwards on carcass EPD values with a future genetic evaluation calculation that will take these current measurements into account. These two embryo brothers come from a donor dam that brought $40,000 in our 2006 Female Sale. We felt like she blended well with Rock Star and our faith was proven correct with the proof of these two herd sire sons. MC Rock Star 889X28, like his brother, shows off excellent post weaning gain and monumental carcass measures with a 5.8% IMF and still a 16.1 in. ribeye area measure. Even though you cannot fully appreciate this herd sire choice from his picture we believe, once eyes are on, all will put him on their wish list. Plenty of stifle and an obvious huge top compliment his ribeye measure. We are certain with a later EPD data base run this bull’s carcass predictors will move up. His sire is the Triple Crown winning MC Revelation 129T. From a modest birth weight Resolute is a top 1% bull for weaning weight, yearling weight, maternal, and ribeye area while also ranking 3% for pure milk, 5% for scrotal, and 15% for IMF. xcept for those stated in the below terms and conditions, there are no warranties, either expressed or implied, as to the merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose with respect to the cattle being sold at this auction. The warranties and guarantees set forth in the “Terms & Conditions” are in lieu of all other warranties, either expressed or implied, and the remedies provided therein shall be the sole and exclusive remedy of the buyer, or any party through buyer, for any breach of warranty or guarantee therein provided, and all other obligations or liabilities. 1. BIDDING: Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. The auctioneer in charge will settle any disputes as to bids, and his decision shall be final. 2. TERMS: All terms are cash or check. Settlement must be made to the clerk at the conclusion of the auction. 3. PURCHASER’S RISK: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold, but will not be delivered until settlement has been made. 4. CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY: When full settlement has been made, a certificate of registration will be furnished and transferred to the purchaser on those lots that are registered. Give full name and address to the clerk when making payment so the Certificate of Registry will be transferred properly. 5. HEALTH: All animals where possession is sold are eligible for interstate shipment except as otherwise noted. The cattle have been tested for Tuberculosis and Bangs disease within thirty (30) days of the sale date or come from a Brucellosis Certified Free Herd. A health certificate will be furnished. 6. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Announcements from the auction box will take precedence over the printed matter in this catalog. All cattle will be sold by lot numbers as announced by the auctioneer. 7. BREEDING GUARANTEE: (A) All animals are guaranteed to be breeders with the exception of (1) injury or disease occurring after sale; (2) negligence or willful misconduct on the part of the purchaser. (B) Any bull which either (1) produces viable semen; (2) settles 1/3 or more of the healthy cows he serves; (3) is the sire of 20 or more animals or; (4) settles cows by natural service and passes a fertility test made by a competent veterinarian during any six month trial period, shall be considered a breeder. 8. LIABILITIES: All persons who attend the sale do so at their own risk. Cattle Brokers, Inc. has been employed by the consignor(s) of the animals being sold solely for the purpose of advertising and conducting the subject sale. All information regarding the subject animals as published in sales brochures and as announced at the sale is based on the representations made to Cattle Brokers, Inc. by the consignor(s). Cattle Brokers, Inc. has not made any independent investigation to verify and Cattle Brokers, Inc. assumes no liability, either legal or equitable, for failure of title, health registration and lien status of the subject animals; and Cattle Brokers, Inc. makes no representations, either expressed or implied, as to whether or not the subject animals are security under any lien, either legal or equitable. 9. OPTIONS AND PRIVILEGES OF RETURN OR ADJUSTMENT: (A) All claims for adjustment or refund must be made in writing within six (6) months of the sale date. (B) Any animal that has not proven itself a breeder within the time limits specified above, if in healthy condition, may be returned to seller at buyer’s expense. The seller reserves the right and privilege of trying for a period of six (6) months to prove the animal a breeder. If proven a breeder, the animal will be returned at buyer’s expense. Should the animal fail to breed, the seller will provide a replacement of the animal with another of equal or greater quality. If a replacement animal is not available when needed, a credit will be issued toward your next purchase. (C) Any animal returned must have a veterinarian’s certificate that it is healthy and free of Bangs and Tuberculosis.
