Welcome to this year’s sale and thank you for considering P&R Herefords genetics!

Wow! What a difference one-year can make. The grass is tall and cattle prices are sky high. We give thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ for granting us love and grace we could never earn.

I am dedicating this year’s sale to my two wonderful children, Alex and Sophia Laubach. We should always take seriously our most sacred responsibilities in life, but we should never take life too serious as to not have some fun from time to time.

The fact is, our children are not only the future of any of our own family’s legacy, but our state, our nation, and our world depends upon us always striving to ensure that our children’s best interest is always priority number one. Your children and my children are the future for us all!

The future of P&R Herefords depends upon our breeding program producing cattle that will make your ranching operation profitable. We will continue to focus on producing “range cattle efficiency” Herefords that can produce beef out on the range in a low feed input environment.

P&R Herefords continues to be a maternal based herd that emphasizes the important traits needed for producing cattle that can adapt to harsh range conditions. Our cow herd is one of the lowest birth weight herds in the nation and our overall EPDs for sustained cow fertility and the commercially important Baldy maternal index will remain well above breed average far into the future.

Structure, fertility, calving-ease, and maternal traits are what we continue to focus on. We are not a maximum performance cow-herd, we are a maximum efficiency herd.

Two bulls continue, and will continue to anchor the base of our cow-herd. Genex leased A.I. sire Churchill Sensation 028X is the number one horned Sire of Distinction in the breed for sustained cow fertility and the Baldy maternal index. He is followed by our own legendary herd sire CL 1 Domino 5110R.

Few, if any, of the P&R sale cattle will not contain at least one, if not both, of these number one and number two ranked horned bulls in their three-generation pedigree.

We once again want to thank Graft-Britton Ranch for bringing another good set of line-one Hereford bulls and some really fancy line-one pairs. Glenn’s insight and continued friendship has been so valuable over the years. We sincerely appreciate Glenn, Jean, and their grandson Ross Graft’s contribution to our collective breeding programs.

Thank you to J.C. Stockton for feeding and caring for the registered cattle again this year. Thank you to Ky Stierwalt for taking the sale pics, all the auction staff, and sale day hands, that make things run on sale day. Sale Terms and Conditions

Terms of the sale are check or cash. Every animal will be sold to the highest bidder with the auctioneer settling any bidding disputes. All cattle are the buyer’s property as soon as sold and will be cared for a reasonable length of time at the buyer’s cost and risk.

Guarantee

All sale cattle are, to the best of our knowledge, free of any disease or defect. Any known defects will be called at sale time, or noted in the footnotes. All cattle are guaranteed breeders. Any bred female selling is considered a breeder without further warranty. If any animal fails to breed after a trial of six months, it may be returned to the seller in good condition and in compliance with Oklahoma health regulations. The seller reserves the right to try said animal for 90 days and, if it proves to be a breeder, return it to the buyer at the buyer’s expense. If the animal proves to be a non-breeder, the purchase price will either be refunded or credited toward the purchase of an animal in the next sale at the buyer’s option. No adjustments, will be made after nine

months from the sale date. We assume no liability, legal or otherwise, to make any further compensation to the buyer. No other warranty or any nature is expressed or implied.

Health

Individual health papers will be provided for shipment anywhere. All bulls will be semen tested and Trich tested. Females are officially calfhood Bangs vaccinated. A licensed veterinarian will be on site sale day.

Delivery & Trucking

Delivery will be provided up to 250 miles from the sale facility on all bull purchases of $5,000 or more. Delivery on the females will be at buyer’s expense, but we will help assist with the delivery of any sale animals the best we can. All sale cattle must be paid in full before delivery with no exceptions.

Registration and Transfer

Registration certificates will be transferred to buyers upon request at seller’s expense. Layton Auctions Services, LLC will transfer all animals as instructed by the buyer. In addition, seller will pay for the cost of DNA test direct to the American Hereford Association for parent verification on any calves born to females that were exposed to multiple herd sires upon request.

• You can see in 233K’s picture the tremendous length of body and excellent muscle pattern in this bull. Extra eye pigment to add some extra bells and whistles. Top 10% sustained cow fertility and milk EPDs. Moderate birth weight with optimum growth to keep mature cow size in check. There is a lot of great cows in this bull’s pedigree. The two Copeland Royalty daughters were as good as horned range cows as you could have found. The 802U cow was a top producing 5110R daughter, and the 416 granddam is still producing for us. 233K’s Sensation dam is a favorite among her calving class, and perhaps our favorite Sensation daughter. She’s still producing and has an ideal udder and her average weaning ratio is 105 with a 355-day calving interval. She wouldn’t weigh more than 1150 lbs. when she’s soaking wet, yet she weaned 233K off with an adj. 205-day weaning weight of 697 lbs. (over 60% of 602D’s body weight). P&R Bred Heifers

These bred heifers are a really nice set and give the buyer an opportunity to add or replace females that will go out and produce in a limited feed open range environment. We culled the bottom 1/3 of our heifers last year before breeding, then we kept ½ and are selling ½ of our heifers here. There isn’t a heifer in the bunch we wouldn’t keep back for our own herd if we had the grass to grow our cow herd numbers. Because of the drought, these heifers were sent to a grow lot after weaning for 75 days, then put on some late graze-out wheat and have spent the rest of the summer on plains blue stem or crabgrass. They have only been fed 20% range cattle cubes for supplement. All the heifers were exposed to our two horned mandate sons, P&R Advancer L 005H & P&R Advancer L 016H listed with our reference sires on page 3 of your sale catalog.

A few folks have asked me about selling some this year and its hard to say no to neighbors and friends but we must keep an amount that will allow us to continue to use the bull in the years to come.
