Jim and Paula Archer, Pittsburg, began building their Shorthorn herd in 1994 with the purchase of 2 bred Shorthorn cows to add to their small commercial herd. They saw firsthand the gentleness of the breed and the great maternal traits of the cows. They also enjoyed the beautiful red color variations of the breed. Before long, they had a registered bull and were committed to breeding calves that would perform in the show ring and in the pasture of commercial operations. They were soon selling show calves to youngsters from all over Texas and from states across the western and southern U.S. At this same time, they were selling Shorthorn bulls and ShorthornPlus cows to commercial ranchers. Much of the breeding stock came from WHR Shorthorns. They credit Bill Rasor, Dr. Blair MacBeath and Dr. James Miner for their guidance in the early years of their operation.
By 2010 their herd was over 40 Shorthorn and ShorthornPlus cows and several bulls representing some of the top bloodlines available: Marellan Super Dazzler, Rodeo Drive, Trump, Sonny and Bloodstone.
