Greetings and an annual Welcome to our “Don’t You Think it’s Time” bull sale. That title is the persistent calling of the past, present, and future in our efforts to bringing value to all cattlemen, both purebred and commercial. What an exciting time to be in the beef business as we see new records set every day. What a better time to invest in the future of your enterprise whether it be seedstock, pushing your cow herd to new levels, or pursuing excellence in carcass and efficiency in a feedyard, it all starts with a solid and predictable herd bull battery. The Shorthorn breed continues to surge and having spent the week in the Yards in Denver, I think anyone would agree, it was a tremendous showing across the board. Our breed and its breeders reached a new level of respect within the purebred industry.

As always, we are pleased to offer these bulls with our dear friends and astute Shorthorn breeders, the Gilman Family. Our operations continue to challenge ourselves in improving our genetic platforms while staying true to our foundational standards in sustainability.

I would like to thank everyone who has been a supporter of ours over the years, some for several generations. We couldn’t do it without you, and we also look forward to all the new interest we get every year. We also couldn’t showcase these bulls without the Will family and the “Cow Palace” facility. It’s a great venue and we encourage everyone to join us on sale day. They are also a great part of our Shorthorn family and presenting bulls to prove that. As always, we are available anytime to discuss the bulls and stay tuned to our platforms with updates on videos, carcass evaluations, and other important information.

~ Nathan & Dale Studer

Thank you all for taking time to sort through the offering. As we put this catalog together the cattle market is setting all-time highs, creating optimism and excitement for the American cattlemen. Therefore, there is no better time to invest in maternal-improving genetics for your core cow herd. Once again, our partners & long-time Shorthorn breeders Studer Shorthorns have put together a powerful offering. We take pride in the fact that the dams behind these bulls work for themselves, are held to a high standard on fertility and udder qualities. The bulls speak for themselves as they are fed in a matter to properly grow and mature, not for maximum gain. The most important day for us as seedstock producers is not our sale day, it is our CUSTOMERS sale day. Whether it be a sale barn, packing plant or production sale YOUR success is our success. As always, please reach out with any questions or for more information. Take note of our trucking policy for the bulls as we are committed to get you your purchase as economical as possible. We look forward to seeing you on sale day or speaking beforehand.

New Heights is the right bull for the times in the Shorthorn breed. As I start to write this footnote I can’t help but think back to 2 years ago and reminisce on this bull’s sire, All In. We had a great deal of pride in that bull for what he

accomplished in his phenotype, genotype and actual data measured. All In brought all aspects of the industry together, something few bulls of any breed have ever done. How does New Heights fit in here? He is all the above in a more moderate, roan package. Want to make replacement females? Fancy heifers? Structurally correct, good testicled, early maturing, performance bulls? This is your answer. He presents himself much like his sire, up headed, sound, moderate, dense, big ribbed, large square testicles and correctly shaped feet. This bull took off across the picture pen for his video and showed himself off effortlessly, and I heard Dad say, “Yep just like his daddy did here 2 years ago.” So much truth in that statement. There was much debate here about maintaining spring possession of this bull. Kathleen told me we have to sell this kind of bull and that AIing is good family bonding time. SO, He sells in his ENTIRETY possession and semen. We hope you can join us on February 22nd.

3M is such a remarkable bull, everyone that has seen him is an immediate fan. His picture says it all, big bodied, correct, good headed, and large scrotal. He is a great option for heifers or cows without losing performance and eye appeal and he is homo polled. My honest opinion on this bull is if we find one just like him with a different pedigree, count us in.

18M is a unique bull offering for us. One of the stoutest hipped, biggest topped, big boned bulls ever offered here. Yet, he comes with softness and is top 10% in maternal EPD’s. Breeding options are unlimited with this bull on today’s mainstream Shorthorn pedigrees. 36M, a son of Liberty Valence, comes to us in a dynamic calving ease and maternal package. If this dude doesn’t get you excited, then you need to check your pulse. This Break the Bank son is impressive in all aspects but especially starting from the ground up. His foot size and shape is outstanding and transitions into an

WW - lbs abundance of bone. He’s cool necked, big barreled, and square hipped. This one will be hard to let go!

THE BIG TICKETS

GILMAN’S ABRAM’S 80M

Rugged, real world, beef bull. If you want moderate framed cattle with tons of shape and rib, here is your answer. The stoutest Big Ticket son to date and he has been noticed by several for that very attribute. He made the trip to Denver

as an alternate to our Reserve Champion Pen of 3. His dam has produced stand out calves every year. He got his name for a reason! Abram’s Tank. Homo polled and ranking in the top 1% for $BMI. Weaning weight ratio of 114.

BW 86 lbs

One of our younger bulls but has really come into his own since fall. He is a full sib to Bill Ziats new herd sire, Gilman’s Cascade 33L. Cut from the same mold only in a solid red package with some added performance. I love how soft and

ADJ. WW 672 lbs deep 113M carries himself, while being structurally correct and sound. His young Cowboy Up dam has grown into a good looking feminine cow with a very desirable udder.

THE FULL SIBS IN BLOOD

GILMAN’S SARGE 125M

A lot of people are going to find this bull regardless of where he is in the catalog. He is the real deal. The closest in type and kind to Basin, from the Big Tickets. The Minnie cow family he stems from has grown in large numbers year after

year and for good reason. 125M is a deep sided, ideal profiling, long fronted, calving ease bull. He is a maternal sib to Gilman’s Royal Flush 63K, owned by Loving Farms. I thought it was unique to have two full sibs in blood, like the bull and heifer we have on this page. Want to make females like that roan heifer? Give 125M a look.

Retaining 1 flush with a minimum of 8 transferrable embryos at our expense and the buyer’s convenience.

Probably the toughest footnote for me to write. Only because I don’t know where

to start. When the E.D.G.E. show was being developed, this was the type of female I was envisioning for it. When I saw that Jr Nationals was going to host an E.D.G.E. show for juniors, I immediately knew this heifer would be a great fit for that show. Minnie shows so much upside with her whistle clean front end, flexibility at the ground and depth of body. On top of that she shows excellent birth to weaning spread in her EPD’s and ranks in the top 5% for CED, Milk, STAY, $BMI, $CPI. The guess work on genomics and breaking her to lead is all done. Dad and I would love to see this one in Grand Island next June and will be there to help in anyway needed.

The story of the Myrtles is only beginning here but one that could write the future for our herd & the breed. The dams and sisters of these two heifers rank in the top 10 of the entire Shorthorn registry for $CPI. Not only that, they are the tip of the spear for convenience traits, Stayabilty and are the type of cows built to be sustainable for today & tomorrow.

Exciting offer from the Myrtle Cow family. 76M a full sib to the sons we offered last year, 50J and 59K. She offers breed leading WW, YW, $BMI and $CPI in a deep sided, long bodied package. She has a great mellow disposition and would be a great option for a younger junior looking to participate in the E.D.G.E show. 112M is the natural calf of 50J and a maternal sib to the bull we just sold in Denver, Gilman’s General 42M ET. She is a stout constructed, long bodied female with a lot of lower quarter shape. Invest in confidence in these two heifers as these types of genetics don’t come by often.
