Dear Friends,
Welcome to the 39th Annual Kentucky Farm Bureau Beef Expo! As the largest beef cattle state east of the Mississippi River, Kentucky is blessed to have this event as a staple on our agriculture calendar each year.
Every year at the Beef Expo, Kentucky cattle producers show and sell some of the best cattle in the country to buyers looking to upgrade their genetics or take home a show project. This event is truly the place to be for the beef industry the first weekend of March.
Over the years, we’ve seen ups and downs in the beef cattle market. But despite challenges, the industry is still in the top five for Kentucky agriculture, receipts from the production of cattle totaling $1.28 billion
Agriculture across Kentucky saw some unique challenges in 202 resilience. Cattle cash receipts rank fifth among Kentucky commodities and account for 13 percent of the total ag cash receipts for the state, which economists from the University of Kentucky near the $8.3 billion record mark set in 2022.
These numbers show how important agriculture is to the state of Kentucky and cattle producers are a large reason for that. The nearly one million head of beef cattle in the 31,000 farms with beef cattle, solidifies cattle among Kentucky
As a cattle farmer myself, I know firsthand the hard work that goes into the beef industry feeding calves to fighting the weather. It is that experience that forms my deep appreciation farmers across Kentucky who make this their passion year after year. Without their continued Kentucky would not have the great agricultural community that makes it s Farming is the backbone of our state and cattle farmers are a large part of the equation.
Lastly, a lot of work goes into making this event possible every year. As always, I wish to thank Kentucky Venues CEO David Beck and his team for the many hours that went into hosting this event.
Again, welcome, and best wishes on an enjoyable and successful Kentucky Farm Bureau Beef Expo. If I or any of my staff can be of service to you, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Shell Commissioner of Agriculture Commonwealth of Kentucky
Kentucky Farm Bureau and the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, Jonathan Shell, Commissioner
Welcome to the 2025 Kentucky Farm Bureau Beef Expo
For many years, Kentucky’s cattle industry has grown to the point that it is the eighth largest cattle producing state in the country and the largest east of the Mississippi which helps this sector of the agriculture industry to be a major economic driver for farm families across the state.
Working in conjunction with the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, the Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) Beef Expo continues to promote our cattle industry which now represents nearly 20 percent of the state’s total farm cash receipts, according to 2024 projections.
This event helps to showcase the industry and is one of the premiere venues to buy, sell, and show some of the best livestock in the country
The KFB so important to farm families

Here is an excellent calf right out of the heart of our breeding program! If her color does not catch your eye, then her Phenotype will. For a young green heifer, she is a very stout designed, well-balanced female. Sister Sandy gets out and travels extremely well and will make her mark in the show ring and will definitely be a standout as a Donor! The Dam of 408 is one I nicknamed “Fancy” when she was in the show barn. In 2022, she brought home a banner from the Junior National in Kansas City. Her sire, Innovator, is a full brother to the recently crowned NWSS Grand Champion Bull and high seller in the Summit Sale. 408 has all the parts to make her a force to be reckoned with in the ring. This is a big time pedigree, big time show heifer that has unlimited potential!
Lucky Charm is a heifer with a lot of balance and look. When the shows are over, she’ll make a very productive cow.
