Matter Redesign the modern day smartphone so it is suitable for the elderly

Matter is a device tailored to enhance the experience of using the mobile phone for the elderly with its black and white display paired up with its retractable clip and also its hap-tic feedback button with a need for minimal pressure to be applied as well as its side scroller so that the elderly can stay in contact always.

Problem area Mobile phone / Elderly

80% Screen/ brightness is too harsh

52% Have an issue with battery

90% Say its too complex

80 % of the elderly believe that the screen of modern day smart-phones are a problem 52% believe that battery life should be improved and 90% of the elderly believe that smart phones are too complex and the elderly aren’t thought of in the design process therefore affecting how the elderly stay connected in this modern age

PROXI Design a product which Helps sufferers of anaphylaxis manage their symptoms better

Proxi is a potable proximity/temperature device able to remind the user wether or not they have forgotten their epi pens but also sends notifications when the pen gets to hot, a small device which can fit on keys or be carried separately and comes in two

Problem area 615% Increase in the rate of admission to hospital due to an allergy related reaction

50% Describe owning an epi pen to be daunting and can slip their mind now and again

63% Believe that not enough is being done by the government to make it easier for sufferers

From testing and analysis I found out that there were two issues epi pen users had with their experiences one was that the pen was too big and bulky and two was the fact that they would sometimes forget it or leave it at home by accident I decided to design a solution which aids in the remembering of the epi pen potentially saving many more lives.

Design Direction

Light, Mute, Calming

Alert you with a gentle vibration or even a beeping sound once after you head back to the house to pick up forgotten epi pens.

It also has a temperature sensor so can sense when the epi pen is getting too hot and notifies you on an application linked to the device.

Proxi is a mini device which is kept in your epipen pouch and one is kept on person and is able to detect when you leave the house without your epi pen as the device alerts you.

Infiniti Design a product or range made from sheet material

infiniti is a high end mirror inspired by the works of Walter Drexel a famous Bauhaus artist it showcases not only its elegance but its sheer size created for the high end luxury collectors market it instantly becomes the centrepiece of any home It is fixed onto the wall and the quarter piece can be inter-changed as well as the bottom to give it more of a personalised experience to the user.

Going back to basics and looking at the Bauhaus as a form of inspiration in terms of shape size and also individuality, looking into the works of Walter Drexel I decided to centre my design around the Bauhaus movement

BLINK Design an innovative urban experience for young people which aligns with mini coopers brand message and impact

This brief was a brand extension for mini cooper to challenge and explore areas in which mini could potentially go into with their existing brand strategy and what they aim to achieve the area that I looked into was the urban experience following mini’s slogan of “maximising the urban experience.

MINI

- “Maximising your urban experience”

Vibrant & Spirited The mini cooper brand is known for it personable characteristics dating back to the 1960’s when one of the first few mini coopers where designed and manufactured, very much known as the ideal family car, it has evolved since then, with its brief history of racing and its embodiment of what it means to be British
