SUMMER CREATE, INNOVATE, CHALLENGE, MOVE! summer programs for elementary, middle & high school students
STEPHENS +YOUTH
Welcome to
DREAM UP SUMMER! At Stephens College, we’re proud of our long tradition of offering quality summer programming provided by the same dedicated faculty and offering access to the same quality facilities that our college-level students enjoy every day. We believe: “Be yourself. Be good at it.” We want our students to pursue their dreams; we also believe in giving them all of the resources to pursue those dreams with confidence. And while we’re proud to be the second-oldest women’s college in the country, we’re also proud of our commitment to lifelong learning and offer many programs that are co-educational, too. We promote an athletics environment that focuses on the whole student, and have two great sports camps to offer this year. We’re centrally located, steps from downtown, on a beautiful historic campus—but with plenty of parking, too.

Camp Citizen Jane
Trends to the Runway
Session dates: June 8-19 (Basic Tools of Filmmaking and Media Literacy; 9 a.m.-4 p.m.)
Session dates: June 8-19 (9 a.m.-4 p.m.)
June 22-July 2 (Advanced Tools of Filmmaking/ prerequisites required; 9 a.m.-4 p.m.)
Enrolling: Rising 7-12 grade students; girls only
Camp Citizen Jane began in 2011 as a way to provide access to the tools of filmmaking for creative young women. Courses are taught by a collaboration of Stephens College and CPS teachers and Stephens Digital Film students, using equipment and facilities from Stephens’ digital film program. Session one explores the industry basics of filmmaking: screenwriting, directing, cinematography, lighting, sound and editing—and how girls and women are portrayed in life and media. You’ll get to work on a PSA, short fiction film and documentary, too. Session two is for those who have completed the first session, attended any previous Citizen Jane summer course or been trained in basic filmmaking or can demonstrate proficient skills. It’s your chance to take what you know to the next level—and prepare a short film for possible film festival submission. How to enroll: Visit Columbia Public Schools at www.cpsk12.org; open only to students residing in the Columbia Public School District.
Save the date for our film festival celebrating and showcasing the work of female filmmakers.
Stephens has been named one of the Top Fashion Schools in the world by Fashionista.com—one more reason why this is a great place to pursue your interests in fashion this summer. Join the Fashion faculty in this 10-day summer camp experience and explore how the fashion industry works, how to spot trends and how to classify your personal style. Learn how to work a sewing machine and draw a fashion sketch while also getting an introduction to the world of fashion journalism. Students will work in the same labs, use the same equipment and tour the same historical archives as Stephens fashion majors. How to enroll: Visit Columbia Public Schools at www.cpsk12.org; open only to students residing in the Columbia Public School District.
