BARLOW MOTORS
The task was to design a car showroom in the spirit of Barlow Motors (a prestigious car reseller) as if it still presently existed. It must include parking for 300 cars, a car showroom, offices and a bachlelor’s apartment.
AUDI CENTRE
Audi cars were chosen to be sold at this car showroom. Audi inspired the design of the showroom from the neon sign outside to the exterior and interior of the building. Audi is highly facinated by technology and all things digital. As such, the facade of the building was inspired by their interest in all things digital and this is manifested in the form of pixels.

INSPIRED BY FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT
BOAT HOUSE The goal of the project was to design a boat house to replace the current one at Studley Park located in Kew. To meet the requirements of the brief, the boat house must also include a cafe, a restaurant and a boat renting kiosk. Furthermore, the boathouse’s design was to be inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s work.
5
Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater in Mill Run, Pennsylvania is the very epitome of organic architecture. I tried to follow through with that design philosophy by integrating the design with its surroundings through utilising planar structures, and making structures seem like they are floating by using dark elements underneath them.

This studio involved designing a shopping centre in the Arden-Macaulay goal was to design a shopping centre that also acts as a trasport hub to the area.
In a lot of ways, this project is a lot like Melbourne Central so studies w undertaken to see what makes it work. Something vital to transport hub is the element of permeability. Looking at Melbourne Central, it is full of entry ways into and out of the shopping centre. This is one of the important things that make Melbourne Central a successful transport hub as it actually caters for the traffic of people and their movement throughout the hub. I chose to use laneways to achieve this kind of permeability throughout the site. In Melbourne, laneways were the result of the hoddle grid which were originally used as service lanes for horses and carts. Since then, they have evolved to become rich in facilities and things to do, and have therefore become interesting and full of life. Now, laneways have really become a significant part of Melbourne’s culture and identity. As seen in the plans, these laneways cut through entire lengths of the shopping centre, creating circulation as well as inbetween space for the inhabitants to linger.

BJS TOWER SKYSCRAPER CONTRUCTION
This was a construction oriented project which involved working together with two other students. Our goal was was to deliver a uniform and consistent look throughout the building, and more importantly, one that is interesting and challenges the typical skyscrapers that we have all become accustomed to by introducing a literal twist. Our decision to adopt a different stacking process compared to typical skyscrapers, came with a plethora of issues that we would have to account for in the future, especially when it came to the structure of our building. In the end, we opted for an external diagrid structural system.

Current trends are showing that Melbourne’s house prices are culminating into the new high after risi year, whereby median apartment unit rose to a record $481,000. The result is an alarming amount of r shows the increase in renting over the past 8 years and for the first time ever, over 30% of Australian renting. Is the natural response to give up on apartment living all together and for future home own into the suburbs like their previous generation did? The ultimate goal of this project is to design a sk with a certain typology that fits within the requirements that it will be demanded of in the future.
Urban Analysis
This project aims to provide high density apartment living that remains very liveable by embracing shared living elements. Firstly, the sharing concept is to embrace different people, in this case target groups, and break down the idea of a single community which, by definition is a social unit that share the same values. This will be done by moving away from the idea of a community, more towards the idea of a home where many things are shared.
Site border. No access along Adderley street due to car parking, fencing, and a steep contour.
My take on the Dom-ino system creates two different typologies:
Half the site houses train tracks, most are used for train storage. Responsible for a mostly flat site.
1: THE SUPER FLOOR. 2: THE CONTINUOUS FLOOR.
Lots of car parking along Adderley street, hindering access to the site. More car parking along Batman and Jeffcott street.
Steep contour at the intersection between La Trobe and Adderley street. 6m drop.
MsD Design stUDio 13 tutors: e. Watanabe & i. Kebel -
15
The typology embraced is Le Corbusier’s Dom-ino house where the basic idea is mass housing production: a single unit that can be repeated over and over. With this idea of mass production also comes the free plan. The free plan’s importance in a skyscraper sharing typology is that it is completely liberating: providing completely open space for sharing.
