Virtual libraries are vital to the 21st-century educator in instructing students in using, evaluating, and producing information. A virtual library is necessary to teach life-long information literacy skills to students through active use of quality Internet tools and resources.

Betty J. Morris, PhD, is professor and chair of the library media program of the Department of Educational Resources, Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama. The Library Media Graduate program has recently changed to an online degree program. Dr. Morris has successfully transitioned the program.
