Image Making Creating a pattern for Cath Kidston A purposed range for Cath Kidston which was influenced by oriental themes. The patterns were created through drawing, painting and digital means. I named the range ‘Broaden your horizons’ to inspire people to learn about different cultures. The theme directly links to Chinese tea; the three colour ways being inspired my morning, afternoon and night time. The pattern can be seen in context on various ceramics. The poster for the purposed launch of the range incorporates digital and print advertising.
Typography Poster designs for Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival Posters I designed for Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival, the ‘life is tweet’ poster won a competition to advertise the exhibition. The bright sweets attract attention from a distance. My tweet poster which reads ‘You only live once unless you have horcruxes’ holds a reference to Harry Potter within the horcruxes symbols, colours and stamp typography. This was exhibited in Hansom Hall in Leicester during the weeks of the Comedy Festival in February 2014.
Branding Creating an identity for Ashington Town Team This branding of ‘Ashington Town Team’ is work created on a placement at Gardiner Richardson design agency in Newcastle. The town is undergoing some major development work to become modern so the brand identity needed to comply with this. Therefore the logo I created is modern, simple and effective. Advertising posters were created to help celebrate the heritage of the town. Part of a series would be shown throughout the surrounding areas.
Image Making D&AD Make your Mark - The fabric of my life Work for the D&AD New Blood Awards in Make your mark brief. This gave me a chance to think about what makes me different, I believe this is my love for handmade and making something to cherish. Combining this with my love of craft I created a patchwork consisting of 21 squares, each one with a different pattern which resemble the clothing I wore on each of my birthdays. There is a guide to the patchwork which folds up and fits into the back pocket of the patchwork which looks like a book when folded up. This is named ‘The fabric of my life’ with the plan to add a square each year of my life.
