Drawing on expertise honed in major European cities, the team at boutique developer Sterboul has, in recent years, successfully introduced a range of customised, Western-inspired residences to the Kuala Lumpur market. One of its latest projects, Parc Monceau, a fivebedroom villa located in the city’s upscale Taman Titiwangsa neighbourhood, encapsulates the company’s ethos of delivering uniquely designed properties that blend bold tones, serenely contemporary interiors and unexpected amenities. Lead designer Daniela Capdevielle walks us through the villa and discusses her favourite features, inspiration and next Malaysian venture.
THE OPEN LAYOUT MEANS THERE’S SPACE FOR EVERYTHING AND EVERYTHING HAS A PLACE... IT’S YOURS TO FILL. Tell us about your background, how you came to be involved with Sterboul and the company’s philosophy. I’ve worked with architectural practices in the UK over the course of four years and three years in Argentina, assuming a wide variety of roles, ranging from urban master planning to designing luxury homes, before I started my own practice in 2009, which is currently based in Argentina. When Sterboul’s CEO invited me to join their team, which in just a few years had developed some of the most exclusive, luxury residential projects in Kuala Lumpur, I couldn’t resist. The company was rapidly becoming the leading developer of ultra-luxury homes in all of Malaysia. Where did you draw inspiration from for this project? The contemporary European flavour of the villa stems from its French and British design and architecture team. With its magnificent high ceilings, extensive use of glass and nearly 10,000 square feet of sophisticated space, Parc Monceau still remains a remarkably intimate home, like most homes in this country. The open layout means there’s space for everything and everything has a place... it’s yours to fill. Sterboul has always maintained a European contemporary design and we wanted to stay true to our mission of building the most amazing homes in Asia, blending European modern design with a contemporary feel.

Tell us about Titiwangsa, and how the property fits in with other buildings in the area. Taman Titiwangsa is recognised as one of the most desirable communities of luxury homes in Kuala Lumpur. Here, Sterboul’s Parc Monceau Villa is set at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, adjoining the visible rolling grounds and natural greenery of the Taman Tasik Titiwangsa park, golf course and equestrian club. More than a Community of prestigious homes, the Titiwangsa neighbourhood offers chic, sophisticated homes situated among Malaysia’s most affluent and influential businessmen. What’s your favourite feature? It has to be the informal living area, adjacent to the swimming pool. I think it will be a place where the future owners of this splendid villa will spend a lot of their family time, enjoying each other’s company. The swimming pool just outside, accessible by opening the floor-to-ceiling windows, the kitchen and dining area in plain sight, this is the pinnacle of open concept living. The orientation of the windows are actually designed to reduce direct sunlight throughout the day and we have 8.1-metre high floor to ceiling windows in the living area that really captures the right intensity of light to brighten up the whole space. What other projects are you working on in the region? Right now, I’m focusing on Sterboul’s next range of villas in Kiara Peak, Mont Kiara, where we will be building three more properties in one of Malaysia’s most desired neighbourhoods, staying true to Sterboul’s promise of building the most amazing homes in the best locations in the heart of the country.
