BE PRESENT!
STEREO is one of the most progressive Hungarian contemporary theatre collectives, which creates event-like performances with the leadership of Martin Boross. Theatre is an event, audience members are participants, and the point of the event is the meeting of the participants’ reality and the fantasy of the artist. The essence of STEREO Akt performances is born from the – often wordless – dialogue between audience and performers.
BE PRESENT!
We create in the present for the present, initiating dialogues about communities and the society in general. All of our performances rely on the presence of the audience members. We work along causes, and according to the concept of each performance we involve collaborators from various fields: theatre, dance, music, sound design, visual and fine arts. We work with innovative approach and new perspectives, using new dramaturgies and technologies on stage and in public spaces as well. During its 5-year career, STEREO Akt has created 11 full-length performances and a number of local and international collaborations.

Why are there no female dictators? - this is the question posed by the fictive socio-artistic experiment, revealed to the audience. Men exhibited in vitrines tell their stories about everyday sexism, humiliating situations, harassment - however, this absurd showcase reverses male and female roles, and portrays an oppressive matriarchal society and its victims. The experiment is led by three actresses who model the alternative reality using theatrical means. The performance is inspired by The virility factor by Robert Merle, and mixes documentary and fiction to put questions of social relations, power positions and gender inequalities into new perspective.

In Etiquette we are searching for perfection. Though there is no sense in perfection itself, unless you are able to show it. We observe the two main characters, Martin Boross and Julia Jakubowska as if they were existing inside a terrarium. We follow the instructions of a mysterious voice, who helps us become like what we wish to be seen as, by others and by ourselves - as actors, as men and women, as humans. However, the voice often leads the potential perfect humans astray.

In Hungary every single day 2-3 persons become homeless. In is practically impossible to overcome this situation without extraordinary will, a huge amount of luck, and supporters. The collaborative performance of Lifeboat Unit and STEREO Akt is an interactive theatrical game which allows the audience to have a sneak peak into the life of homeless people, to experience and survive 6 months without a home as players of a game. The performance is played for both high school students and adult audiences. It reflects upon our society, shading light on the causes of homelessness that concern all of us. The performance also questions negative preconceptions that associate human value with wealth.
MARTIN BOROSS - GÁBOR THURY:
LAST CHANCE CLINIC MU THEATRE PERFORMERS KÁROLY HAJDUK ANNA HAY JULIA JAKUBOWSKA TAMÁS ÖRDÖG SÁNDOR TERHES After launching an attempted coup d’état, a band of radical freedom-seeking militants occupy a television studio in order to address the population, demanding that the people resist the ruling regime’s new ‘Clear Eyes’ program, which aims at isolating the population from what it sees as the more unpleasant aspects of life. The government plan to protect citizens from malevolent spirits and harmful influences, and give them a new perspective and general sense of satisfaction, by using a method that is, among other things, a biological experiment. The militants’ act of violent rebellion against the ‘Clear Eyes’ program fails to gain support, and by the end of the day the revolution has been crushed. Years later, awakening from a long slumber, the audience members who had been taken hostage in the television studio find themselves in a rehabilitation clinic, where attempts are made to reintegrate them into the now-flourishing society by erasing their unpleasant memories. But there is only space for those who are willing to learn how to see with new eyes, and who are capable of forgetting what needs to be forgotten.

There is a cruising bus in the city that is different from other buses. Fate tourists are traveling on board. Spectators follow the story in a reality set within the framework of a theatrical journey taken place on a tour bus. We guide the passengers of the Promenade bus in a world of fiction in time and space, as a tour guide leads the group around touristic sights. Scenes unfold as if pictures of a movie came alive. The reality of the street is intertacting with the action of the play, so the performance is different each and every time. Parts of the story, or even locations can vary as well.
BEFORE YOU DIE FILM, THEATRE, WISHLISTS
JURÁNYI HOUSE
PERFORMERS ZSÓFIA TAMARA VADAS IMRE VASS SZABOLCS TÓTH
What is a bucket list? Do you have one? Do you have any unfinished businesses before you die? Millions of people have lists of things that they want to accomplish before they die. Imre and Tamara started accomplishing the most important items from their own wish lists a few months ago. They have succeeded in some of them. They have failed in others. And in case of a few they will need the audience’s help. In the dream factory of STEREO Akt the extraordinary desires come alive on stage and screen, together with the secrets and fears embedded in them. Performing a sleight of hand, trying what it is like to be a mermaid, participating in a music video, having a near-death experience – as in your nicest dream or in the worst nightmare.
